[Open] Come In From The Cold...

[If anyone knows the residents of the house, it might seem strange that such a group have selected a cozy abode for their home in the city. However, it is not to be said that they are unwelcoming (depending on who) and usually when someone comes to visit, there's always a warm cup of tea ready for them...and maybe some food to go along with it. Feels like a crime if someone doesn't get fed. And despite the hardships of the previous month, the house does welcome guests for any particular reasons whether a visit for the soul, a chat to catch up on events, or even maybe go a few rounds with the poor striking dummy in the backyard.

When you live with sword users and have stress, it gets used, ok?

It might be chilly outside but strange enough, the house itself is pretty warm. Just mind the gaelkitten and Flood running around from time to time.]

[She's more embarrassed at him finding this stuff too quickly. As someone who doesn't know what to do during this holiday, Mira simply does not want to screw this up and go off the rails. That seems to be a theme of this holiday.]

It's supposed to be a recipe book on how to make chocolate but I find the actual recipes being too much.

[He'll see her flip through the pages as there are indeed recipes that call for the weirdest things other than marshmellow or whole ice cream cones. Mira doesn't even use those in the potions so why would she even try that in food? Mira flips the pages quickly as she tries to find something that be useful.]

Alright, now it seems we are getting to what appears to be normal...

[And she speaks too soon. For when reads 'For the times to please your Bonded' and sees a list of ingredients, Mira's cheeks go a deeper shade of red and slams the book shut again. What she isn't saying is that she knows what those are for and they are not innocent.]

Next time, I must needs to see all before I purchase.

[He's only dimly aware that there's a holiday coming up at all; he certainly hasn't made any connection between that, and Mira's new chocolate-making interest.]

I suppose it's for more advanced users... or for those whom simple no longer satisfies.

[The impression he was getting was that this was a book for either the ambitious or the pretentious, but as long as the instructions were clear, surely Mira could figure it out? But when she gets to that section, he barely has time to read it himself before Mira's slammed the pages shut again, her face turning an ever more amusing shade. He doesn't even try to hide an answering smirk.]

...Now there's an unexpected sight- savior of both Source and shard, hero of legend... flustered by chocolates of dubious purpose.

They're more catered to sating a certain kind of craving, which I can assure you, was not my intention.

[Ok, seriously why the hell did she get this book? Why was she not aware of the aphro chocolate making and the weird decorations that look like a pixie made them? How did she even let the clerk talk her into it?! Well, there was but it was a bit obvious by now.]

Hells, I thought they said this was simple!

Oh? Well, if you're not interested in- [What had it said again? Ah, yes--] 'pleasing your Bonded', what is your intention?

[Seriously Mira, this was a strange time to pick up a new hobby.]

Perhaps they have a different definition of 'simple'. While there's nothing wrong with trying something less serious for once- I'd suggest finding something a degree less frustrating.

[She could go on with it and just let him assume that it's a new hobby and not with an actual purpose. But then he'll find out when she will make the attempt and it would get worse. Small popotoes but could get bigger.]

Normally I would! [Face to book now.] This was for a purpose and somehow I let myself grab the wrong book to try it.

[See if she actually rested more than five minutes, she would have been more aware.]

[While it remained amusing to tease her (and gods knew he could use a less depressing moment), and while Mira remained weirdly vague about what her intention was (if it was simply 'felt like making chocolate', why wouldn't she just say so?), he decides to switch to a more practical response.]

...Surely the principle of what you want to make remains the same. Find a recipe that has a similar base- isolate the extraneous parts, and you should be left with something more reasonable.

[It's actually the right choice to take; teasing would just make Mira feel much more awkward right now and going at it logically will also make the dark knight think for a minute. To take the fundamental parts in and discard the extra garbage within, including the more pleasurable fillings. She is not going to give either of her Bondmates aphro chocolate, that's for sure.

Setting the book down and nodding, Mira takes a breath to keep calm and listen.]

Aye, I think that is what I need. [With a small chuckle and a shake of her head.] Getting wound up over something so small...my thanks for calming me.

[Spoken as she leans over to give him a quick peck on the cheek. It's fine.]

Just don't make a habit of it.

[It reminded him of when she'd freaked out on realizing that the source of the sound which preceded the end of the world could still be out there, could happen again.

But that quick peck draws an instant frown, an expression that seems to ask, 'what was that for?' Or possibly, 'was that necessary?' Not that he minded, but a certain amount of skepticism was to be expected. But apart from a headshake, he doesn't comment on it (it's not as though he wanted to dissuade her, really).]

And so? What is this mysterious purpose that has you all fired up? 'Tis not something you've shown an interest in before.

[It was more like one of those things one simply does without thinking. At his question, Mira fiddles a little with the cover.]

Well, I wanted to do something since it's the holiday. Never celebrated it back on the Source despite lending my assistance for those who led the festivities. But now I wanted to do something for those I care about and I heard chocolate was a good way to show it.

[Her circle has gotten a little bigger so why not?]

I was looking for simple but I am a bit lost on what is considered a limit between comrades and Bondmates.

[Finally an explanation. Now why had that been so difficult? At the mention of a holiday coming up, he hums to himself; it sounded vaguely familiar, though he'd never exactly bothered to memorize the Eorzean calendar. And there's no reason Amaurot would've had something similar at the same time of year.]

And so, rather than buying something, you're going the extra step?

[Not a criticism. A reckless expenditure of energy in these difficult times, perhaps, but he could appreciate the effort.]

Well... as long as you leave out the more questionable ingredients, I'm not sure what the difference would be either.

Would it not mean more if it was created instead of bought?

[Something she still holds onto no matter what. Besides it's worth it in her mind and everyone can use a small pick me up after that shitstorm of a mess. However...it's with a bit of a playful look she sends him that she continues.]

And since now you know, I do not need to experiment and guess what flavors suit your palate more but just ask.

[You heard her Hades.]

Obviously.

[If one had the capacity, creation was always more meaningful. Even if the result were flawed.

But at the completely expected news that Mira was intending to make something for him, he matches her playful look with ever more skepticism.]

And you are well aware that I don't want anything?

[Why are you putting all this caring on him Mira, it's uncomfortable.]

[Look, this kind of thing is awkward to admit but she does want to do something that doesn't involve medical care and while she does like being a Warrior pillow, Mira does want to do more. But stay in the lines that doesn't go over the top.

Besides, Irhya is also getting chocolate but finding what vampires can and cannot have is a thing.]

Indulge me then.

[Emet-Selch just keeps looking vaguely uncomfortable. It was strange; he'd sought understanding from the Warrior of Light, offered cooperation, his hand in friendship. And now, technically, he had all of those things returned, but he didn't know what to do with them. It wasn't as though his reason for seeking those things had been satisfied- the Warriors still sided with the present day over the past.

He knew that her mind couldn't be changed. But yet she continued with this... whatever it was. What was he meant to do with it?

But he does finally answer.]

...More on the bitter or sharp side of things.

[It's a new thing to learn for an old man, isn't it? To have someone want to do a thing just because? Mira herself never experienced such a thing and she's just hoping that it isn't too much. And that smile gets a little softer because he answered truthfully.]

I will do my best not to disappoint you.

[She's heard of dark chocolate and so she will start there.]

Well... you haven't thus far.

[It wasn't as though he'd seen her fail to contain the Light on the First. And, very technically, he never would see that. And apart from a certain intense misunderstanding regarding a piece of his shattered soul, their relationship had been a largely pleasant one.]

I expect you to maintain your flawless record.

[No pressure. Though to be fair, his expectations weren't exactly high when it came to the field of chocolate-based-gift-giving.]

No pressure, hmm?

[Anyone would be a mess and nerves upon hearing that. Mira is too but her own way of handling it is seeing it as a challenge. Sounds like a lot of fun too. She's up for it as she can't help but give him another kiss for good measure. It's strange and she didn't think much until afterward, scratching her cheek with a nervous chuckle.]

Sorry, too much?

[You keep doing this to him Mira. Sleeping together was one thing, casual affection was something else entirely, and a source of far more suspicion. Not that he was quite sure what he was suspicious of, but it felt like the natural response.]

You're in a strange mood.

[Which was neither confirming nor denying that it was too much of anything.]

[Honestly, it just felt like a thing to do. Not much thought put into it but it's there.]

Am I? Hopefully it is a good one considering everything lately.

[Let them have some happiness before this world or city decides to fuck with them again.]

...'Tis preferable, perhaps.

[He has to give that much. After everything recently, and with what's sure to happen in future- a few calmer moments were sorely needed. And seeing Mira less obviously stressed or worried wasn't a bad thing. Reaching out, he brushes a few strands of hair away from her face.]

[Calmer moments were needed. With the events of the past coming to a close, it's time to try and look forward to something a bit better. Her answer must be acceptable if he decides to reach out and touch her like that.]

Worry not, it will not be so excessive. [Even Mira cannot be so overly happy to the point of teeth rotting.] But it is a pleasant feeling to have, better than tired.

[And since he is here...]

Perhaps there is time for a test run. Would you still like to stay and watch?

[An excessively happy Mira would just be alarming. An excessively happy anything would just be exhausting. She was much better as she was.]

I suppose I can spare you a bit of time, if you don't mind an audience.

[And he wouldn't mind the distraction. Or the company.]

Of course not. The company would be nice.

[She can not only use that but it would be nice to have a spotter for this new thing she's gonna try out. Besides, she knows how he likes to watch.
