[ 1. Will you bite the hand that feeds? (Existing CR) ]

[ Food has been showing up at the mouth of the den he'd set up since he showed up in the Wilde. It's been an annoyance and it's not like he can tell them to cut it the fuck out. Instead, he just moves the offerings inside (mostly to prevent drawing in any wild creatures that might want to partake). Well, at least he won't go hungry.

Nearby footsteps draw his attention from where he's laying. He peeks his head out of the den and narrows his eyes. The dragon recognizes who's coming and huffs out a sigh. ]

... You came to find me, didn't you? Don't tell me you brought food, too.

[ 2. Will you chew until it bleeds? (New CR) ]

[ The sound of something being dropped near the opening of his temporary home gets Berserker to stand up and look out. It's not a mirrorbound that's familiar to him, so he's not about to be very friendly to them -- he's out here to be alone, after all. ]

Leave what you've brought and go before my kindness runs out.

Speaking of projects--! [ is he abruptly changing the subject because he doesn't know how to process all of this? yeah.

Waver was having some issues healing from your bite wound, so I helped him out with it.

[ He's grateful to be transformed right now because otherwise he'd have the worst expression. It doesn't hide the feelings of guilt and shame that strike him at the mention of Waver's bite, however. He'd been trying not to think too much on how he'd lost himself and lashed out when he regained consciousness. It's so painful to think about it... ]

...You used the venom you took from me, didn't you?

[ whatever guilt or shame that flat experiences due to their bond goes mostly ignored, aside from a few pats on the top of berserker's head.

Something like that. To be more specific, I've been using it on a few rats I found, in order to have it create antibodies to your venom. I mean, I'd like to try becoming immune to it as well, but I wanted to make sure to have an antivenom first! In case...you know.

[ in case he poisoned himself like a dumbass. ]

Anyways! The point is that we're working on that but...you were kinda knocked out when Waver and I spoke about it. And then I forgot to tell you. [ because he was too busy making sure cu was Really Back. ] And then you left. So I'm telling you now!

[ They'd taken his venom, too...What had they been doing with it? It could be used as a weapon, that much he knew when he'd weaponized it in Dorchacht. Ah, nevermind. Berserker draws his attention back to Flat instead of focusing inward. ]

If you get the antivenom worked out, give some of it to Diarmuid, too. I don't know if he's built up an immunity for how many times I've poisoned him...

Probably not. That's something you have to do consistently in order for it to have some sort of effect...like a vaccine except you do it little by little or something! Although I have heard of snake wranglers tattooing themselves with the snake venom-- maybe he should try that?

[ flat shrugs, giving berserker a sheepish smile. ]

I don't think I've ever done a project this big since I went and solved the Voynich Manuscript with Ayaka. But this might actually help people--I'm really excited!

[ How much does he want to tell Flat here? He really doesn't need to know about the finer points of their relationship, but... ]

When we kiss, there's venom in my saliva sometimes, so he's been getting that little by little. It used to affect him but not as much anymore.

[ Berserker hesitates again. ]

So long as you limit who it goes to...I don't want to be rendered completely useless.

So you could have poisoned me this whole time?! Berserker!

[ the horror lasts maybe two seconds, tops. he thinks about it for a moment, and then shrugs nonchalantly. ]

Oh well, I wouldn't really mind if it's you that poisons me. I know you'd do it without meaning to, after all. [ perhaps you shouldn't be this casual about it... ] And besides, antivenoms aren't easy to make--it'd be one thing if you were a regular rattlesnake, but you're probably unique! Mass production is pretty much impossible!

...I did poison you once. That's the whole reason I gave you my venom.

[ Flat had agreed to being poisoned, at least. They hadn't been intimate as much as he and Diarmuid had, so there was less chance of the accidental poisoning.

Flat's reassurance does help ease his worries, though. Berserker knows he's unlikely to ever betray him. ]

Good. That's the last thing I'd need. To be defanged...

Well that’s because I asked to be poisoned. It’s a different story if neither of us mean to do it! [ d u h. ]

And while kissing, too. Haha, what a way to ruin the mood. [ perhaps cu shouldn’t have told him that bit of info, since he can’t help but laugh softly at the thought, not even bothering to hide it. ]

Defanging... that sounds terrible. I like your fangs after all—they’re my favorite part of you? Oh, but also your wings... hmm and your claws? Oh, but this form is pretty incredible, too! [ pause. ] I just like all of you! To have one thing taken out would be so sad.

[ Why did he want Flat to move in with them again? To endure this behavior daily? Berserker stares at him, annoyed. ]

...You're strange and you need to learn when to stop talking.

It’s the truth, though!

[ flat grins at cu’s annoyance, beaming like a little ray of sunlight. ]

If you want to me to be quiet though, maybe you should try to do it yourself? Be the change you wish to see in the world!

[ Berserker lays his head back down on Flat's lap and says nothing else. Fine, if he wants him to be quiet, he'll be quiet. This is petty nonsense and he's good at that. ]

Cu?

[ flat can deal with maybe a minute of silence At Most before he starts feeling uncomfortable. which means that he’s going to try to be even louder. ]

Cu!!! Cu, come onnnnn!!! Say somethiiiing!!!!!!

[ he’s even trying to move his big ass head from his lap to try and get him to react. ]

[ if cu can survive a minute or two of that, however, flat will accept defeat and just.

rest his head on top of the dragon’s. ]

Hmph.

[ at least he’s quiet, now. ]

[ He endures Flat's frustration admirably, not so much as looking at him as he desperately tries to get him to say something. Persistence can only do so much in the face of the pettiest man in the world. Silence is golden. In the silence, a deep rumbling starts to resonate in his chest -- that strange purring again. He's very content to lay here curled around his Bonded in the quiet, only interrupted by occasional noises outside the den of animals running through the forest. The pulse of magic between them feels as normal and familiar as breathing and it soothes the ache in his chest. The turbulent emotions from before have settled into contentment.

It's peaceful and the most comfortable he's felt in weeks. ]

[ the frustration passes quickly, as most emotions do with him. once the dragon starts purring, flat’s own breathing starts slowing down. he feels comfortable here, listening to the rustling of the leaves, the sounds of the animals and, most importantly, cu’s breathing.

gently, he traces mindlessly on cu’s skin. he doesn’t want to sleep yet, but his eyelids are heavy and the magic of their bond plus the warmth from his bonded is lulling him to a daze. he feels warm. he feels safe. he feels happy.

eventually, he closes his eyes and the tracing stops as flat gives in to sleep. ]

[ Cú, too, slowly gives into sleep. He curls his tail around his body and Flat in a protective way; it helps keep the chill out, too. His breathing slows and the purr starts to fade away into silence. Quiet and peaceful...As much as he wants to be alone to process what he'd suffered, this is what he truly needs: time spent with his Bonded to soothe them both. He would spend this sort of time with Diarmuid, too, for the same purpose.

Safe and secure, he can finally rest. Maybe the dreams of what he suffered won't torment him tonight. ]
