I like big books and I cannot lie [closed]
Who: Aziraphale & Enkidu
When: Before all hell breaks loose (the begin of January)
Where: The bookshop
What: After exchanging some messages they decide to meet and talk books
Warnings: B for Books
[In fact, they've been looking forward to this. Despite everything that has happened the prospect of meeting new humans and reading books is something that gets their spirits up.
Now Enkidu has never been the smartest dresser. Instead of a plain, white sheet they're wearing a grey coat that is slightly too big for them, a pair of pants that might look a little bit too summer for the winter and shoes that have seen better times.
Normally they're very good at pinpointing someone else's presence but nothing is normal around this place so it takes a while for them to find the bookshop in question. And on their way towards said bookshop they met a couple of stray cats who needed a lot of headscratches. So, yes, they might be a little late. Quite late, actually.
They knock a few times and take a step back.]
Are you still there?

[Aziraphale had been keeping an eye on the clock, assuming something had kept them, or that it had simply slipped their mind. These things happen and Aziraphale doesn’t mind waiting, and he’s not the biggest fan of texting or even using a phone in general, so texting them didn’t cross his mind. And he’d decided to make time by picking up a book, rereading some of his favorites.
…And, well. They do say time flies when you’re having fun, and reading is the most fun Aziraphale has ever had. So he’s actually a little surprised when he finally hears the knock on the door.]
Indeed I am! I’m glad you found the place. Come in dear, the door is open.

But for now. Crisis averted.]
It is difficult to find things here in this city. All stone buildings look alike. Boring and grey. [They talk as they step inside and close the door behind them.] But what matters is what is on the inside of those buildings, not?

[He wonders what they would think of Aziraphale's grey, always rainy, always foggy London. Aziraphale loves it, loves the people, loves the colours, loves the magic you can feel everywhere, but if they think this place is kind of boring and grey he can't imagine they would think any different of London.]
And this particular building is full of books for you to peruse! [He motions to the shelves, indeed full of many books as Aziraphale could get his hands on.] If you wish to find something in particular I can definitely help you.
Would you like something to drink or eat as you peruse my books?

[There are a lot of books and Enkidu wonders where to begin.]
I have heard about so many stories and I want to read them all. [They crave knowledge, especially now their soul will not grow anymore.] Tell me what your favorite stories are. [Oh yes, food sounds like a good idea as well. They are a bit hungry.]
I would like some mutton. And bread. And beer, perhaps.

[He chuckles, quite endeared at their demands.] I'm sorry, I'm afraid, of those things I only have bread in here, I do not keep that many things stocked in this place. I do not live here, you see, so I only have some pastries and the like for people to eat as they read the books.
But I promise you I will be ready for you next time.
sorry for the late reply!
Pastries will do well. [And Enkidu is just always hungry.] But before we eat, please show me some of your books.
[Really, there are a lot of them.]
I want to read those about humans. What they can do, what they can make, how they are. Their legacy.
never any rush!
Follow me, then, I'll show you the way. [And he leads them there, motioning with his hand for them to follow.] You'll probably have to try a few books before we find one you like, even I do not enjoy every single book.
thanks for your patience <3 the event ate me :C
I do not think there are books I will dislike. After all, every book contributes to humanity's existence. Even if it is a bad book. Or an awful story.
[They will still know and learn.]
What do you consider an awful story?
