Canon Update & Catch-All
Who: Towa Herschel and YOU
When: January 4th, and throughout the month
Where: Mirror House, Aefenglom and Dorchacht
What: Towa's canon update takes place and she tries her best to move forward following.
Warnings: Major spoilers from Trail of Cold Steel 3 up to and including the ending especially for the first prompt, but they may come up in the latter two as well. Mentions of death and generally dark themes of betrayal, political unrest, and supernatural disaster.
I. Mirror House
[Towa had not returned to the Mirror House in quite some time, but for some reason, today she felt she simply had to go. All other plans were put off that morning so that she could return not only to the house, but to the specific mirror that she knows is her own.
Hesitantly, her fingers grace the surface of the mirror.
Months pass in her mind, but in reality, it only takes a few minutes for the mirror to impart the knowledge to her in vivid detail. Her eyes widen, a far-away glazed look in them. And when it all sinks in, the strength in her legs gives way and she drops to the floor before the mirror.
A pained wail comes out of her mouth; tears staining her cheeks. For a few moments she truly allows herself to feel the full impact of her sorrows. Of course-- she allows herself this under the impression that there's no one to see her break. But it's not as though she has the proper presence of mind to be entirely sure that that's truly the case.]
II. Aefenglom
[If it weren't for the puffy look in her eyes, one might not think anything was different than normal. She goes to a local cafe to eat-- but at one point, accidentally drops her cup; trying to pick up the pieces and cutting her hand in the process.
Or you may find her missing her step off of a curb, or tripping for not stepping high enough.
Whatever scene you find her in, it's clear that her mind is elsewhere and she's allowing it to get the better of her.]
Oh-- I'm so sorry, I can't believe I'm so clumsy...
[She's fine. Or probably will be.]
III. Dorchacht
[With the heavy weight on her mind of everything happening, Towa's ultimate goal is to stay busy. Stay strong. If not for herself, then for the sake of the others who would rely on her. That's the best thing she can do for herself right now. Not let them down.
One thing she wanted to do was verify the changes in Dorchacht. While she was skeptical that so much could have happened in such a short time when they'd struggled to make even the smallest of impacts, she would like to believe the good news. It would be nice if there was something good to celebrate.
There are others who've likely had the same idea. Seeing a face that she might recognize as one of Aefenglom's mirrorbound, she smiles weakly in greeting.]
I guess I'm not the only one who wanted to see how things were going.
IV. Wildcard
[Anything else, discussed or otherwise!]

For some reason, earlier... I felt compelled to return to the looking glass house. So I went back to the mirror I came from. And in the reflective surface I saw it-- part of history that I took part in back there that I didn't remember when I first got here.
no subject
Would her mirror show that sort of thing too? She's not sure she wants to know. ]
And you saw yourself in it as well? As part of all of that?
no subject
[Things that had put her in this state, so perhaps not all of them were such good things. Towa can't say for sure that she didn't wish at least a little that she could have lived without knowing.]
Yeah. I was there too. It was like... watching history unfold in front of me. Like I should have known the whole time.

[ Just the idea of the mirrors calling them by itself is plenty creepy, but seeing that in it of all things? It feels unsettling to a point where Asahi doesn't want to think too deeply about it right now, and she quickly shakes her head in an attempt to get rid of the thought enough so she can just focus on the other girl again. ]
But.. was what you saw that heavy? That you've been so lost in thought about it.
no subject
[She had almost forgotten just how much they were connected to the mirrors. Considering how long it's been since she came here, it was easy to forget. And yet, that bond was still there.
The nature of what it showed her, however...]
Unfortunately... yes. The state of things back home is-- there aren't really words for the dark direction things are going in. But even if I ignore that as something I can't do anything about... I... lost some dear friends during that time too.
no subject
It makes her feel kind of out of her league, never having dealed with anything much heavier than dumb high school arguments for the most part. What does she even say to that? ]
.. I'm sorry. I can't even imagine how terrible it must be to see that kind of stuff all of a sudden.
no subject
[And she's powerless to do anything about it.]
I don't know what's going to happen when I can go back. It's not the first time one of my close friends... turned out to be something I didn't realize. But whether it's a terrorist or an enemy... I don't care. I'm still going to get back there one day and I'm going to make him answer me. I don't want to lose any more friends than I have to.
[Towa shakes her head and smiles apologetically.]
...sorry, this probably doesn't make any sense. It's a pretty complicated mess-- but thank you. I'm really glad you were here.

[ It's true that all of it doesn't make too much sense, considering how Asahi knows hardly anything about the kind of world Towa comes from. But she doesn't seem to mind listening to it anyway, even if she might not fully understand. ]
If anything, I should be the one apologizing. [ She shakes her head. ] I kind of feel bad that I can't do more for you than just listen if you're dealing with a tough situation like that.
no subject
[It's hard for Towa to describe just how much the simple act of being there means to her at a time like this.
Recounting the details right now might not help either of them. Of course she'd like to talk about them sometime, and she'd be happy if Asahi would listen when that time comes-- but for now, the best thing might actually be something much simpler.]
...what do you like doing when you feel sad, Asahi?
no subject
This is usually one of those questions she'd just try to avoid, since she doesn't like lying. But even avoidance would feel terrible when Towa is dealing with something so heavy, so she's trying her best to be honest about this. ]
I usually just mope around by myself. I.. don't really like talking when I'm in that kind of mood. But just lying around doesn't really help you cheer up easily.
no subject
Probably not. But... I think I can relate to that feeling. It's hard to figure out what direction to move when you get stuck in a rut like that.
[In it's own way, that confirmation was helpful. A lot of people had these kinds of moments. And it's going to be okay.]
Thank you. It's good to know it's not just me. It's difficult now, but it won't always be that way.
