[ Aqua's heart swells. Zack is so sweet, and his words have so much warmth to them. Tentatively, she reaches and places a hand on his. ]

Thank you. But... I don't want you to get hurt because of me.

[ She might be new to all of this - whatever is happening between herself and Zack, but... she can't bring herself to disagree with some of what he says, either. ]

... Though, I feel the same. I'd like that, too. I like being with you, Zack.

I think I can deal with a little hurt now and again.

[Hell knows he has. Some punk bothering Aqua is probably nothing for him in comparison.

Her hand is warm against his and for a moment he feels something familiar in the gesture. He finds himself smiling slightly in return.]

And if you mean that... How would you feel about bonding with me?

[ Her eyes widen. She's sure that he has someone else - someone closer to him that he'd rather bond with. ]

But, are you sure?

I think I am. [Zack's wings quiver slightly.] There's something about you I can't get out of my head. Might as well keep it there.

I feel the same way. [ She smiles softly in return. ] ... Back when I met you for the first time, you asked me out back then, too. I never realized that it would have lead to realizing as much as I have now.

[Zack can't help the wolfish grin he gives.]

Well, the offer still stands.

[ She tilts his head slightly at the grin, but she can't help but smile at his words. ]

... If you're sure, then my answer is yes.

[ She'd like to have a chance to protect him - especially if he doesn't have a bond any longer.

She does want to ask what happened - but it can wait until they finish discussing this. ]

[That pops out of his mouth before he can stop himself. Honestly, even if he'd been acting confidently about it before he'd almost been expecting her to say no in the end. She's got people she looks after, and all that. And Zack hasn't had the best luck with this...

But he quickly lets out a relieved sigh.]

... Thanks, Aqua.

[ Did he think that she would say no? She shakes her head. ]

Of course. I want to help you, Zack. And... [ The next words are said softly. ]

I'd like to be closer to you.

[He's been striking out a lot lately IT'S FINE--

But damn, she's cute.]

Same. ... You wanna go now? To bond?

[Shotgun bonding?]

[ There's no real reason not to go at this point. ]

Alright. [ She pushes herself to stand, offering a hand for him to take. ]

Let's go.

[He grins widely takes her hand and leads the way out of the place and down the path towards the coven.

He's pretty sure he's heard that monster-monster bonds can be rough. Something about a power imbalance that can happen. They should probably talk about that on the way...]

You know, apparently when two monsters bond it can be really powerful and hard to deal with.

[ That's enough to make her stop in her steps. ]

But, Ven and I-- we've been fine.

[ Is this really such a good idea?? ]

[He stops too but shrugs.]

I guess it really depends on the monsters?

[She's a dragon and he's a chimera. He's not really sure how that combination will turn out.]

We're both a lot stronger when the moon is out.

[ She's well-aware of the kind of monsters they are - and the power they both have. ]

Wouldn't it be less risky to bond with a witch?

Like I said before, I'm fine with getting into all your trouble.

I think we're both strong enough to handle it if I'm being honest? But it's up to you.

It's not that I doubt your strength-- but Zack, I agreed to bond with you because I wanted to protect you.

[Zack steps up to her, hand coming to tuck some of her hair behind her ear.]

And I'm gonna do the same for you. So I don't think we've got much to worry about. If anything, I'll be surprised if we're both not even stronger for it.

[ Her eyes softens at the touch, but she doesn't relax just yet. ]

I don't understand. How can you be so carefree about this?

[He pulls his hand away.]

Recklessly curious, I guess. [...] Sorry. Maybe I should have mentioned this before I said anything else.

[ She shakes her head, reaching for the hand that had been pulled away with both of hers - clasping it gently. ]

No, it's alright. I'm glad you said something now.

I still want to bond with you, Zack. ... But, we need to break our bond if it becomes too dangerous for either of us.

[Zack give her a steady look.]

Alright. That's fair enough. If it's too dangerous we'll break the bond.

Alright.

[ She pulls one hand away before stepping forward. ]
