[closed] So far away from neon lights and city streets
Who: Diarmuid and Marie
When: Sometime in Noveuer
Where: The Wildes/Farmer Georgie's farm
What: A princess and a knight go wish-hunting.
Warnings: N/A
[Just how they’d decided that this is how they should catch up Diarmuid isn’t sure. Maybe it was the harmless whimsy of it: tracking down a talking, wish-granting fish seemed fantastical even by the standards that they’re both used to but in a pleasant way. Maybe they’ll discover this bizarre, aquatic wizard, maybe they won’t. The knight is rather more inclined to think the latter and he wouldn't be entirely disappointed if that were the case. He's had enough of wishes to last him a lifetime.
Regardless, it’s a beautiful, if brisk day out; the trees bordering the cultivated farmlands, cutting them off from the wildes proper, are already deep reds and oranges. Harvest season has long since passed but ripe, dark berries still dot the hedgerows and a scarecrow sits contentedly in the middle of the field, stitched smile bright. Really, it would have been downright cruel to leave Mac-an-Coill at home in such weather and so the dog- he appears to be somewhere between a wolfhound and a greyhound- runs along beside Diarmuid as he heads up the country road to where he’s meeting Marie.
Naturally, the dog spots her first. And so, the first sign that she’ll get that he’s arrived is a chorus of excited barks and a large, dusty brown dog lolloping up to her, closely followed by an embarrassed looking knight. Coill has none of his shame. There’s no aggression in his movements but he noses at Marie with open curiosity, even pawing at her leg to get her to look down at him.]
Down, Coill! Easy, boy.
[At the sound of his master’s voice, the hound looks up abruptly. Coill gives Marie one last nudge with his and then, tail wagging, trots back over to Diarmuid, where he’s rewarded with a scratch behind the ears once he sits.]
My apologies, he’s just excited to be out of the city. [This time, he turns his smile on Marie instead.] I had hoped that Sir Georgie would have stayed with you until I arrived but never mind. I trust you’ve been well, my lady?

That is how she ended up trying to remember the basics of fishing she picked up during the summer vacation. This was really easy, was it not? (She ended up letting all the fish go back then anyway) Either way, it should be a nice trip, whether they encounter the fish and the wizard or not]
Who is a good boy? You are! You are a good boy!
[She smiles at the dog and extends her hand to pet his head, then proceeds to scratch behind the pet’s ears] I do not mind at all! He seems like a clever little guy. Coill, was it?
[Marie gives Coill one last scratch and turns to face the dog’s owner] I think we are both excited to be out of the city walls for once.
