Full Moon/ Transformation

i. Fish Out of Water

[ She had heard that the full moon would have an effect on her now, but hearing was different from experiencing. On her way home from the tavern, her body started to feel strange. Something was changing, and it terrified her, and while she had been warned not to fight it, Alex couldn’t help but do that. It was her automatic reaction to anything that scared her. Her neck in particular felt uncomfortable. Not painful, but she kept scratching at it as she felt something start to form across the sides.

Not fully aware of her surroundings or where she was going, Alex found herself closer to the river Temese. It was only the sound of the water that took her attention away from her neck. Something about it was soothing..beckoning even, drawing Alex towards the ledge. She gripped at the banisters that prevented people from falling into the river, her nails scraping at it as she stared down at the water. Without much thought, she started to climb over the railing, the only thing on her mind being that she needed to be in there. ]

ii. 'Cause You're So Shiny

[ Even away from water, Alex is restless, scratching the back of her hands as something harder starts to form on her skin. She keeps her head low and tries to keep to herself and out of people’s way until she can find someone who could maybe help her out, but that plan is tossed out the mental window when her eyes focus on something else. Maybe it was the way the moonlight made it twinkle or maybe it was just pretty, but whatever it was, Alex couldn’t look away and suddenly, she just had to have it. Was it around your neck? Your wrist? Maybe you’re wearing a well-polished belt buckle or your favorite earrings.

You may feel a tug as she takes a hold of you, or maybe she goes straight for whatever shiny thing is on you. Watch out for the claws. ]

Tavern

[ Alex noticed a difference in the way people spoke to her in the tavern after the full-moon. While the monsters seemed more comfortable talking to her now, the human patrons suddenly became colder. Even the way they looked at her had changed, at least, it did when they caught sight of gills on her neck. On one hand, it was kind of nice to have the other monsters lighten up around her, but the way the humans looked at her was a little too familiar for her, and not in a good way.

During her break, Alex can be found in the back trying to decide between keeping her hair up, or maybe putting it down to try and hide the new additions. You might catch holding her hair up into a ponytail, then letting it go, then repeating those actions.

[ He said that with more ease than she ever could. It really was that simple, but it didn’t feel that way for Alex. She was sort of hoping this place would give that fresh start of no one knowing what she was, but now it was because she was something else completely. ]

You’re not really bothered by this stuff, are you?

[ From the few interactions she’s had with him, it didn’t seem like much phased. He seemed a little like Worrick in that sense, that they were difficult to read.

She decides to go with a half ponytail. It didn’t completely hide her gills, but they weren’t completely hidden either. ]

I wish I was more like that.

[ The question earns a quirked brow. Realizing something, he takes a look at his arm and the scales trailing upward to his forearm -- there's more to show across his body but it's covered by his clothes, hidden away from any immediate wandering eyes. And though they're not close his pupils are slit and unnatural.

He's aware that there are more changes to come. He's seen them, felt them, when the opportunity arises, but it's fortunate that they have at least stopped here. ]

It's certainly new, but there's no point in crying over something that's going to happen inevitably. And adjusting to change is much better than waiting for the world to accept you, don't you agree?

[ Again, he says it so easily. Experience? Or did he just adapt that easily?

His new features are more apparent from this distance, and she does try to lighten the subject. ]

So..you've got more than a bigger heart now, huh?

[ His lips curl into a smile, stepping away from the door and towards her. ]

Would you like to get a better look? You can even touch it, if you're feeling a little curious~

[ Alex is a little more on guard (mentally) this time. She can tell he's teasing, but she was going to be mindful of her reactions. She doesn't move away when he does step closer, her gaze lowering at the scales that covered his arms. It would be a lie to say she wasn't curious, and at least these she could see compared to his organs.

So she does reach out, three of her fingers resting against his scales and slightly grazing them. She hadn't touched anything scaly before, but it was a lot smoother than she imagined.

Her gaze meets his again. ]

It's real.

[ It's similar to watching a child curiously touching something for the first time. He's sure it's not entirely common for most people to feel out dragon scales before, but he's not entirely a regular person nor human enough to entirely relate to that sensation. He only observes her reaction, watching her the entire time before slowly nodding his head. ]

As real as what's on your neck. I couldn't make this up even if I tried.

[ Would they cover his whole body in time? Even with it in front of her like this, she had a hard time picturing it.

She looks up at him. ]

Can you still..feel with them?

[ It was like armor over his skin. Did it actually work as such? ]

It's... certainly different.

[ He examines his hand, fingers curling inward and then out, noticing how the palm of his hand is completely covered in scales. ]

Though it feels as if I had them my whole life. Nothing has really changed -- though that makes our little transformations even more strange. [ He pauses, eyeing the gills along her throat. ] Doesn't it feel the same for you?

I can't say I feel the same..Maybe, yeah, sometimes I forget they're there. But whenever my hand brushes against them it still feels weird to me.

[ Surprisingly, the physical changes weren't the most challenging. ]

Have you..also been acting differently?

[ That receives a quirked brow. ]

Hm. [ He has -- but there's a part of him that hates admitting that. He's always been a person of self-control, capable of ensuring that every action is made because he wants it to be, and yet he feels as if his freedom is slowly being stripped away with each deepening transformation. ] A tad.

[ He breathes out through his nose. ]

It's been a little difficult staying in control, actually.

[ She straightens up at that, looking at him much more expectantly. ]

Like how? Have you..been trying to steal things?

[ More like he's been trying to sate that murderous hunger inside him -- ]

I did happen to catch myself almost snagging a shiny mirror the other day... Which made me chuckle, considering I've got plenty at home!

How did you stop yourself?

[ She's facing him completely this time, very eager to learn how another monster is dealing with a similar situation.

She sucks her lips in, her fingers fidgeting on her lap as she averts her gaze for a moment. ]

Because I sort of...attacked a few people..

Ah?

[ His eyes are wide, blinking thrice out of surprise. ]

You did? I never would have imagined you being able to hurt so much as a fly! Wow~ I wonder where all that came from~ [ He's teasing her, obviously -- though he finally answers her question with a shrug of his shoulders. ] Hm... self-restraint? I'm a man who's good at holding everything in when he's told to, after all.
