[open] hydaelyn's house for wayward souls
Who: Anyone!
When: All of November.
Where: The Haven, at the "classy" grade house maintained by some people from the FFXIV cast.
What: It's mingle time. Drop by for a visit, make your own toplevel, maybe ask who that weird old guy sleeping in the yard is. (It's probably crystal grandpa.)
Warnings: Mind FFXIV spoiler warnings in threads!

[ Located past the fanciest manor houses is something a little more modest. The most prominent thing one would notice about it is the front yard, which someone obviously spends some time in, though the cutting of certain bushes is a little close to amateur. More importantly, it looks a little messy but very inviting, and there's almost always the smell of something warm and delicious coming from inside the house. The lush and flowering garden in the back has a recently-scrubbed fountain and running water, as well as a near-permanent host of small birds. Is it magic? Probably. Most of the flowers are roses, though, which are a bit hardier than your usual flowers.
The interior is just as cozy, with a fire in the hearth that's almost always going, and plenty of books loaned or purchased from shops. Furnishings are occasionally sparse but the kitchen is fully-stocked, as is the family room where most people spend their time. The dining table exists and it's nothing fancy, but there's almost always a smorgasbord of fruit and other snacks left out for visitors.
New this month are tiny sigils drawn in faintly glowing paint along the windows and doors. Teleportation wards are in place, as well as soundproofing for each bedroom (ahem), so anyone teleporting directly inside the house will find themselves repelled.
There is a spare housekey under the mat, though, if someone gets locked out. ]

Yes, actually. If you have the time, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you.
[And then, without waiting for an answer, she walks in. The room is about what she’d expect from the Exarch. Someone’s been cat napping.]

[He returns the smile, but he can't help feeling like maybe this isn't just small talk. He has a small table he's been using as a desk and two mismatched chairs.] Sit wherever you like. [He'll sit on one of those mismatched chairs-- the one he had been sitting in before, actually.]
Pray forgive the mess. I am slowly but surely adding furniture where we need it.
[He needs bookshelves. Possibly at least ten? He has one at the moment, and it's leaning precariously against the wall.]

[Admittedly, it does warm her heart. This isn’t her Crystal Exarch, but he still treats her as he always did. Although she’s not sure what else she should expect from him, considering who he is.]
[She takes the other mismatched chair before glancing around the room.]
Compared to your room in the Ocular, this is spotless. I’m not sure what you’re apologizing for.
[And then she notices the bookshelves.]
You certainly haven’t wasted time rebuilding your collection.

Ah, yes... [He chuckles awkwardly.] I had almost forgotten you had seen that. I suppose one feels less inclined to clean for guests when you do not expect any.
[He cants his head slightly.]
Most of them are spellbooks, but you are welcome to peruse them if you would like. [His eyes linger on her, though. He's hesitating.]
But I think you did not come to discuss the finer points of evocation magic. What weighs on your mind, my friend?
no subject
Yes, and those who prefer to fill their rooms with books rarely keep them organized.
[It was never a problem that she had, but she knew plenty of people who did. Nothing against it, of course, until one of the towers accidentally fell on someone.]
You may be surprised to hear this, but exactly that. I can’t place why, but I have a sudden interest in glamour and illusion magics.
[Okay, she knows why, she just doesn’t want to admit it.]
