The Harsh Reality of Questing - catch'all

[ There goes all this sneaking around... ]

Huh. You're a night owl— [ Caster blinks and stifles a yawn. He didn't expect to meet Archer at this hour. The guy seems like someone to wake up early. ]

[boneofsword]

I couldn't sleep. [Archer shrugs one shoulder. It's true, even if the reason for his inability to fall asleep is suddenly gone. He notes to himself to be quiet in the morning and let Caster sleep longer.] You won't usually find me up at this hour. Nevermind, get some rest. Goodnight.

[Archer goes into his room, leaving the door open a crack. He prefers to hear any uninvited guests.]

Goodnight~ [ Caster waves his hand as he disappears into his own room. Huh. Own room, huh? Guess it's settled. He's really staying here, at least either until he gets kicked out, or something makes him leave.

He's tired but he gets the "can't sleep" there are some things he'd rather not dream about. He ponders about just barging into Archer's room for some late night idle chatter but decides against it.

That doesn't mean he stays in his room, just the reason why he knocks on Archer's door is different. ] If you still can't sleep, I think I can help.

Hm? [Archer opens the door wider. It's clear from his expression that he didn't expect the offer, but he does invite Caster inside.

The room is very similar to Caster's, sparsely furnished but clean. Only personal touch is a fresh outfit laid out on the chair and several notebooks on the desk.]

What do you propose?

[futhark]

I'm not going to forcibly knock you out if that's what you're worried about.

[ If you want to live with him you gotta T R U S T H I M right? Caster welcomes himself to the room pushing Archer in the direction of the bed. He got something on mind— ]

It involved a little bit of magic~

[Archer just rolls his eyes at the first remark, and allows himself to be pushed.]

So generous in sparing me a headache. [his quip is rather dry, but it hints at trust, just as the way he doesn't hesitate to turn his back to Caster as he walks to the bed.]

I got interested in enchantment because of boons it grants— [ It's similar to how he used his runes to strengthen himself. More strength, more speed, more endurance. Just one of them enhanced at a time, but enough to give an edge ] —turns out charm spells fall into this school too.

[ So he's talking about "charms" while leading Archer to bed. And it's actually innocent believe it or not. ]

A simple spell for easy sleep is what is part of this category.

[ So he gets to practice and Archer gets to sleep. Everybody win. ]

[Archer doesn't hide slight amusement at being the test subject, but it offers additional boon of diminishing Caster's magic. Besides he wouldn't mind a good sleep without dreams; his companion isn't the only one affected.]

Very well, do your worst. [he agrees sitting on the bed so that if he faceplants he's going to land in bed and not on the floor.]

Oh, just lie down. [ Caster pushes him onto the bed with annoyance. No faceplanting here, he intends to make it work. He starts— well he starts writing a rune over Archer's face, one that would have the same effect as he is trying to achieve here. Instead of stopping himself from doing this useless gesture he whispers a command ]

Dún do Shúil [ As he focuses on channeling the magical energy, that he has now in abundance into a simple charm spell that forces the target to fall asleep. Instead of just writing and making things happen through the use of runes, this is... a bit more active, requiring more focus. Especially since different schools of magic operate differently ]

[boneofsword]

[It's too sudden; Archer does lie down following Caster's lead and closes his eyes. Sleepiness comes with a feeling of sudden vertigo. Acting instinctively he grabs for something to hold onto-

whoops. It's warm, it's comfy, it's Caster. Enjoy the sudden cuddles?]

[ ?!?!

he's—

not enjoying them at all??

Damn, that's the wrong kind of charm spell. Or maybe not, because Archer does seemingly fell asleep, but the cuddling side effect wasn't planned! ]

—funny joke, now let me go.

[boneofsword]

[It's not working. Archer mutters something sleepily, but doesn't wake up, just clings tighter. He is asleep, his breath deep and steady as he unconsciously holds Caster close and doesn't let go. His expressionis surprisingly relaxed and unguarded, much softer than his usual one.

Whatever nightmares have plagued him before are gone.]

[ Wow. For once, spell working as intended is a bad thing. Caster hits Archer's head with side of his head, but since he gets only a grumble as a reply then— What an incredible mage he is.

Hope you move a lot during night. [ Because he will be waiting for the first occasion to sneak out of this deathgrip. For now tho, Archer can enjoy his rest. ]

[Archer doesn't move, though his deathgrip loosens in hour or two. It's been ages since he's had a pleasant dream, and the warmth of another body next to him brings long-forgotten memories.

He's going to feel incredibly well rested the next day.]
