[Open & Closed] ❀
Who: Enkidu & you!
When: Today, the 10th of October
Where: The Coven, mostly
What: School shenanigans

A - Lessons
[It seems they have a choice in this. There are a variety of classes and books and it seems that using magic isn’t a difficult thing at all either. Of course, they’ve never had the abilities to belong in a caster class but when push comes to shove, it doesn’t take much to make it flow through their body.
So it does not take long for Enkidu to decide that this is a positive thing. They can redefine their own purpose and place here and that is just incredibly new and exciting. Just like that moment when they decided to side with humans instead of staying a mindless beast has been exciting. And all that excitement shows when they enter the class.
Because they are totally that student that asks a lot. Next to that they do not really mind to silence others when they are chatty during the teacher’s lecture.]
I am sure you are able to discuss those matters outside this room. Please be silent. I try to listen. And I am sure that I am not the only one.
[The look on their face isn’t even an annoyed one. When they gaze at the culprit the expression is completely neutral.]
B – Magic
[The thing with flowers is that they are lovely. They also smell good and bring a smile to someone’s face. But there’s also something like too much flowers. Enkidu absolutely doesn’t mind that the front hall of the Coven building has changed into a sea of flowers. In fact, it is an improvement. There is absolutely nothing wrong with bringing some nature back in this large, stone city.
Slowly they make their way through their conjured sea of flowers, careful to not damage them or bring them harm. And maybe, for everyone else it is somewhat of a weird sight. A figure all dressed in white and without shoes tiptoeing through flowers that should not be there.]
Isn’t it beautiful? [They look up and smile.] I have used a spell to get them here. [The smile broadens because, oh, they are so very satisfied with the result.]
Closed to Mello
[They’ve gathered an immense pile of books around themselves now. Each one is even more interesting than the previous one was. So much knowledge and so much they can learn! But, to be absolutely fair, they find themselves a little overwhelmed.
Nevertheless they still want to grab that last book over there. The one quite close to another person who seems to be browsing around. For the last time they walk away from their table to grab it but when their hand is on it, the other person has taken hold of it as well.]
Ah.
[Enkidu looks up and whispers.]
I hope you don’t mind that I take it.

Finally they sigh and their shoulders slump a little.]
I do not quite know where to start... [They are well aware of the fact that they want to learn. They want to read every book and understand everything about it.] ...And I have never been inside a car.
[Help.]
It does not come forth when I want it to.
[They show the other their hands.]

[ He's giving what is possibly the most dead-pan look he could muster. He doesn't know what's common to humans at all. This is probably the first time someone's asked him what's normal for humans. Though he does know cars. But, it doesn't matter. ]
Maybe you need a focus or something.
[ Louis holds his pen in his hands. ]
Like an object that you can keep your attention on when you work on it. It works like that, too. Or you can use your words. Magic is... personal.
no subject
[Enkidu spends a good amount of time gazing at their hands before they look up at Louis again. Perhaps what is common for humans is not common for them. After all, they look human, talk like a human, think like a human but they are far from human. And they've known that for ages and accepted that a long time as well.
But here everything seems to shift in the most uncomfortable way possible. It feels as if they are drifting..]
You mean that I practice using an object? [It seems logic.] That can be any object? Or is it some sort of enchanted object?
[Lots of questions, Louis.]
no subject
As far as Louis is concerned, the person he's speaking with now is a human. They seem and look human. More so than himself, even. He has no idea of what to think. ]
I mean, it might help if it's magical, but sometimes you just need something that you can use as like - an extension of you.
[ Magic was, before this place, totally foreign to him. So he practiced it in the only way he knew how. ]
Like - say a pen. Act like your pen is the only thing in the room. Imagine the spell and the magic you want to do. It doesn't work with all types of magic, sometimes you need things like in Alchemy. But here --
[ Louis finds it easy to say. ]
Isn't like it. There's no trade.
no subject
[The sheer idea alone is mindboggling, really. Not something Enkidu is very used to.]
I would not know how to find something like that. [They're not even sure if they can, really and for a moment they frown deeply.] How do I find that? I do not have any possessions.
[Before they speak any further they focus on Louis' words again. A pen.]
Okay. I will do that.
[Enkidu leans forward a little and places a pen on the table. After that they focus their attention on said pen and do exactly what Louis is telling them. That pen is the only object that matters, the only thing that stands in this entire room. Slowly they push their hands forwards, stretching their arms.
The pen shakes a little, flies up a little and ends up snapped in two.]
Ah. I wanted it to become a flower.
no subject
[ That's true enough. It would be hard to adjust if you're not used to doing things because of your own motivations. He wouldn't be used to it, either. But, it seems like the other understood what he was talking about. Even if the spell didn't go exactly as they had planned, magic was happening, and that was a start more than anything.
He watches that pen snap and when it does, he tilts his head back towards Enkidu. ]
There's nothing wrong with that happening.
[ He shifts his eyes to his own pen and then towards Enikdu. ]
It can take a little while, and that's okay.
sorry, they're a little bit pessimistic
[Very messy and the sheer idea of losing their human form again is somewhat upsetting. They had sacrificed a lot for that. It feels strange to be so incompetent when it comes to magic. When they were still serving under their Master they were considered strong and powerful. They had complete control over their abilities and possessed a healthy amount of confidence. But here, everything seems to be shaking.]
I do not deem this okay. It does not feel like that.
[The tone of their voice is completely
neutral but there is a slight hint of frustration visible on their face.]
It is true that you try to give me comfort by telling me it will be all right in the end. [They reach out to pick up the parts of that broken pen.] It feels off.
no subject
[ Pause. ]
Oh. That mostly happens if you don't find a Bond eventually, I guess.
[ He wouldn't know. He formed a bond within a month of arriving, after the first full moon it was what he realized he needed and was more than happy to not have to do it again. He's glad to have two now. ]
The Bond is the most important thing you can do for yourself. I feel like I've been better at magic since I've gotten it, too.
[ He shakes his head. ]
I'm not trying to comfort you, don't misunderstand. Even idiots with steep learning curves eventually get it. [ Shrugs. ] Even if the only reason is that there's not a ton of choice.
no subject
[But Gilgamesh is not here and you are playing yourself, Enkidu.]
Since this world is full of magic there are probably methods to avoid bonding to a stranger. There are probably books about it, seeing the immense knowledge stored inside that library.
[They watch the pen in their hand.]
I am aware of the limited choices and I do get that I am being forced in a role that does not fit me.
no subject
[ Yeah, that blunt. He's going to of course say it like that. He's going to make sure this other understands. He doesn't understand personally. Sometimes you do certain things for survival. ]
There's only so much one can do...without them here. And besides, it's not like it's a replacement for whatever bonds you had before here.
[ Sigh. ]
And nothing that you can use would do enough to substitute it for long.
