[ Alex's ears picked up on the sounds of excited children and how it turned into arguing, though not as clear what with her hearing being poorer out of water. She didn't realize just how close they were until she looked down to find a very determined and upset face looking up at her.

Was..she supposed to do something?

Looking up, she finds the towering man the little girl was pointing too, and Alex had to do her best to not be taken aback. It still caught her off guard, the appearances of some of the monsters. And yet, there was something familiar about him. ]

Looks..like you get to go?

[ Not that Alex was sure what the argument was about--Until the girl jumped right at him and began making her way up. ]

That's not fair! I wanna go too! I bet I could get to the top faster!

[ Now there were two climbing up the dragon on either side. ]

H-hold on is that okay--

[ She's looking at the mountain in question now, concerned with..all sorts of safety issues. ]

[ it’s completely fine— oddly so— for the draconic man that you may be sure has killed a few people in his life. even in the short one he’s been living here, he’s got grotesque scars from hands to neck, all resembling bites of some sort from an assertion of beasts.

ooo, what’s this one? the boy turnskin asks with a wagging tail, prodding at eren’s neck on one side as ruby clings to his poncho, halfway up his legs and wringing around his torso. ]

A mimic. [ eren says curtly, before his attention is on alex. pointed ears and needle-like fins expressive, they move, perk even, and with reassurance, he stands still and allows them their climb. rux seems to be distracted by the tattoos sinking into his back, muttering what’s a mimic, and smelling them with a wet, enthusiastic nose that’s accidentally met with an involuntary forked tongue flickering over his face. the boy giggles, and eren remains sound, giving the turnskin support for his legs with his arm-wing— to keep him from falling. ] As long as they don’t fight each other, it’s fine, Alex.

[ It's his voice that starts to sound to familiar to her, but Alex remains confused. Surely it hasn't been that long since they last saw each other---How could he have changed so much?

The little girl climbing up does have her concerned, so Alex has her hands out for support just in case, but she also doubts Eren would let anything happen to either of them. But, speaking of... ]

Eren..um..who are these kids..?

[ literal time travel ]

Rux and Ruby. [ oh god ruby is definitely catching up, howling and throwing her weight towards alex to purposely freak her out— all while rux reaches for a horn and sticks his tongue out while doing so. whether he's trying to copy eren or just being silly, only the child would know. ] I know their grandmother. Their mother ended up asking for help until she gets out of work.

[ and as you can see . . . eren found it very difficult to say no. ]

[ Ruby was very much successful in getting Alex to panic. They were starting to cause a bit of a scene with people trying to squeeze on by and getting elbowed in the face. ]

Maybe--Maybe we can find a park or somewhere to take them?

[ Yes, she wasn't about to leave the poor boy--man?-- with these rambunctious pups treating him like a tree. ]

[ kids are good beans, eren is just not the babysitter one should turn to if they don’t want their kid coming back home saying things like they’re free to choose or w/e they want (worst case scenario). ]

If you know a place.

[ meanwhile, they’re both grabbing at each horn to say i win!! the hard part is to keep the bickering from happening about who won first, or if it was a tie. a tie might be a good idea to defuse their screaming. ]

[ Wasn't that the best babysitter though? ]

Looks like a tie!

[ She responds to the kids first, gesturing with her hand for Eren to follow her. ]

I was totally faster!

nu uh! I was!

Well, what about this? Whoever can hold on to Eren the longest until we get to the park wins the next round?

[ It doesn't take long for the kids to wrap around him like a koala, determined to not let go.

She leads them out of the market, only stopping to quickly by some snacks, then leads Eren to the closest park she could find.]

[ eren can only hold onto them for backup, around the legs as he follows alex’s lead— much better than his if he were to stick around here alone. some sort of playground is out there, with far better things to climb upon than a man with horns and scales. by the time they arrive, the children cheer, a little irritable that they’ve come to a draw again, so as eren lowers them down rather gently, each arm around their little waists and hauling them like meat bags (which might make a mother scream, though the pups laugh and shrill with glee), ]

You’ll have more challenges to make. [ which is enough of a start for the both of them to get ideas. eyes on the jungle gyms, but eyes (and nose) even closer onto alex and her treats. whatcha got, is that for us?! ]

[ It definitely made Alex freak out as she tries to get Eren to hold them properly, please!

At least they made it to the park without getting reported. When the kids start sniffing at the bag, Alex laughs, only holding the treats up a little higher. ]

They are, but you need to make a choice. You can either play now then eat after, or eat now, then play when you're done. You can't do both at the same time.

[ The kids boo in disappointment, but think long on hard on this life changing decision they had to make. They whisper amongst each other, weighing the pros and cons before finally coming to an agreement. ]

We're gonna play first!

[ And off they bound towards the jungly gym.

Alex shakes her head in amusement as she watches them run off, but offers the bag to Eren. ]

Just because they don't want to eat now doesn't mean you can't.

[usurpers]

[ ?!?!?! food was for all of them all along—!! it’s a bit of an involuntary act when his tongue comes tickling out for better smelling, he holds the bag from its bottom and keeps it held right there, between them. ]

Just me?

[ please, he means to join him. ]

[ Was it weird to start finding the tongue thing a little endearing? ]

I'll eat with you too.

[ She reassures him by reaching in and grabbing one of the still warm filled buns. ]

Eren..do you mind if I ask a weird question?

[usurpers]

[ good— he’ll do the same, in that case, offering a quiet thank you to her and holding a bun up. ]

Might not be as weird as you think.

[ shoot him dead ]

You..look different from the last time I saw you. And I don't just mean your um..monster changes. Like you got...older?

[ That sounded less offensive in her head. ]

I told you it was a weird question...

[usurpers]

The truth isn't weird. [ it's not all that difficult to really notice. only now does he begin to dig deeper into his food, all while keeping an eye on the kids. ] It was the mirrors.

[sing_for_me]

What do you mean..? They can do more than bring us over?

[ What, could they do whole makeovers too? ]

Over and back. [ and over again!! ] It’s just not as obvious as we want it to be.

[sing_for_me]

[ Sorry, she's still not getting it. ]

You went...over to where you're from? And the came back? But it hasn't been that long. And you look...so different.

[ Unless he hit puberty all over again and had another growth spurt. ]
