Who: Everett and anybody!
When: Throughout Octeuril
Where: Aefenglom
What: Gardening, Kittens, Quests- many OTA prompts inside!
Warnings: NSFW in some threads, will mark individually as needed.
[All prompts in header are OTA! Closed prompts will be below and marked accordingly. New and established CR both welcome, plotted or not! Will match format, if prose is preferred over brackets!]
Rainy Days, Here to Stay
A. Gardening for fun and competition
[Everett's cottage was a welcome sight, coming back from Dorchacht. He hasn't been a mirrorbound for long and yet, it felt enough like a home to him. His garden had been well taken care of in his absence, but after gaining so much more experience with his magic in Dorchacht, he was ready to really expand. He could let his neighbors have the more beautiful garden, after all!
He'll be happily recruiting any who wish to help him, offering them garden boxes of herbs and tea plants to take home with them in repayment. His tobacco plants he's protective of, but the lilies are off limits!
If gardening isn't in one's skill or knowledge set, that's just fine, Everett seems to be new to it himself, mostly relying on his magic to grow and maintain his garden. All the same, he didn't want to keep draining himself, so there is a stack of literature bought and borrowed on the subject. He's happy for others to take a look, or to write out instructions transcribed, for home care of gifted plants!
They just need to be mindful none of those books get wet. Everett enjoys working out in the rain, but it's difficult to not trek in the water and muck straight into his tidy cottage...]
B. Shelter from the downpour (aka The Kitten Giveaway)
[Throughout the month, Everett will be out and about his yard. He's landscaping the front portion with verdant rose bushes and hibiscus and ivy to crawl up the front porch of his cottage. Soon enough, it's overtaken with more green and blossoming flowers than it is wooden structure. HIs front gate is always left wide open and welcoming.
On this day, it's really pouring. He spies someone stuck out in it, waving to them from under his porch. There's a basket in his arm and he's stuffing it full of... kittens? Seems a family of strays was taking shelter and he felt a need to help. The neighbors keep feeding the local cats, but this was the first Everett saw of little ones. They should really be brought in.
As should the poor person out in the rain! Everett waves them in, warmly greeting even a perfect stranger. He's always happy to make friends.]
This way! My cottage is warm, do take shelter. It really is coming down today!
A Questing We Shall Go
A. Garden Troubles
[Everett loves him some fresh preserves! He's also just a very helpful man, aiding the old woman with her troubles would be on his to-do even without reward. He's happy to see someone else willing to indulge her. He's glad others are so kind!
He does not expect the issue to be puppies of all things. The same from the dream, even! Same kind of creature, at least. Everett was already very fond of the petal wolves, so he's careful not to harm any while shooing the majority away. One remains and it's a particularly pesky one, he's in need of the other helper to chase the pup into his arms. He catches the dog around the midsection and swings the creature up in his arms, looking it over appraisingly]
Caught you, little one! This is no place for you.... [it whimpers at him and. Oh. Huh.
He could understand just what it meant! How curious that is.]
B. Habitat for Refugees
[While he's more than happy to be out of Dorchacht, Everett is not content to leave the refugees without assistance. They're in real need of support and mentorship, autonomy is a frightening prospect! Everett does not want them slipping back into familiar habits or finding new, worse ones. Aefenglom may be a better place, but it's not perfect and these monsters could easily be taken advantage of if they're not well looked after. Everett is assisting on two, main fronts.
Firstly, thrifting! He's happy to gather some money up of his own and kind donation of other volunteers, using every coin of it wisely. With so many yard sales around the city, it's easy to get practical goods and furniture at a bargain. The housing for the refugees should be well stocked with living essentials in now time! Of course, assistance hunting down good deals and even just moving so much furniture would be very helpful to him.
Second, he's doing much the same as he did in Dorchacht, brightening up the neighborhood with plant life! His focus is on planting herbs, tea plants, and fruiting trees. Plants the refugees can easily tend to themselves and harvest for the local market or keep for themselves. Everett's eye is steadfastly on providing the practical!]

wildcard!!!!
[ As requested, Daenerys feels almost compelled to explain her questions. It is not the first time people (even her fellow mirrorbound) has assumed she would jump ahead of herself. There's a sense of council she misses – of having guidance and perspectives given to her for her to act upon. Jorah provides damn good council, but here? He is but one man. One guarded man. If she is to get home – she needs more than that. There needs to be action of some kind.
She navigates easily to his cottage, the directions clear and simple when she asks around. This is not the first time she has sought out company alone away from her Queensguard – no, her friend. Dany does not wish to complicate things further and with that? A knock on Everett's cottage door awaits! :) ]

Fine to see you, Lady Daenerys! Please, please, come around the back. I have tea set out in my garden proper. [as if... the front of his home is not a magnificent enough flower patch- that of roses and hibiscus, all fragrant and full bloom. He wishes to save them trudging through his home and wasting the niceness of the open air. It is an overcast day, rain drizzling on occasion, though not at the moment.
He did set tea out on his covered back porch, which he leads her around to. There are blankets upon the chairs should it get a bit too brisk. The cooler autumn air and the warm of the tea should be a cozy combination, he believes. Everett pulls a chair out for her, the table arranged with a full tea set and an assortment of fresh berries.
Everett looks so proud of himself]
Everything plucked fresh from this very garden, my lady.

Oh, you – you are too kind, ser. [ Instinctively her words tumble out of her mouth. There's a quick step to bring herself closer to him, her hands limp at her sides as the display of his beautifully foraged home extends beyond where she can pinpoint a start and end. The entire compound was filled with more greenery than she was ever use to – Essos the sandy and dusty continent and Westeros nothing but dead grass and steep cliffs from her landing in Dragonstone. ] Your home is a marvel all on its own, are you sure I will not pay to view such a sight?
[ She can tell how proud he is as she finally peers to his garden – the display all the more welcoming. The aroma, the sights – it plays with her and nearly relieves the tension in her shoulders fully. Eases her heart quicker than she'd like. ]
You have created your own paradise. [ She stands, not daring to take a seat yet – not when there was so much to take in. ] Truly.

He notices her hesitation to sit and moves in close again, offering her the loop of his arm]
Silly me, you must wish for a tour. Allow me. [ever the gentleman, he's happy to walk her through the paths he laid out between planters and plants growing from the soil of the yard. Above them, even, a trellis is grown with all variety of crawling vines and hanging plants. Hopefully Dany doesn't mind the occasional droplet of water or dew falling over them, the day had on and off showers so everything has a fresh sheen of water clinging to it.]
no subject
[ Was it rude? She was in awe – a far more simple look in her face than the weight that usually weighs her down. There's less seriousness, less tension – she almost looks at ease. As he mentioned the tour, it was clear she'd love that.
A looped arm to his, she follows at his side. Dropping her guard a bit. ]
I know I scolded you back in that horrible city, but here – I'm pleased to see such greenery. It's more than I've seen in my entire life...

Is your home a more barren sort of landscape?
no subject
[ It was honestly admirable — for him to root himself here and find comfort to grow. Her eyes scan over every blossom and leaf, over every petal and thorn. ]
Yes. I have been across many lands to get closer to my home, but all of them barren in their own ways. The Great Grass Sea nothing but green, but no shade or trees. The Red Waste unforgiving sand. The way to Dragon's Bay all cliffs and water. Dragonstone, all rocks and sand. No greenery such as this — a diversity, if you will.
no subject
I'm sure all such places had their own, unique beauty to them! I did always enjoy the majesty of each new landscape, in my own traveling. My people lived in the Below Lands, that is to say, entirely beneath the ground. I had not even seen the Sun until I was nearly twenty years of age. [he likes this story, smiling to admit, with funny enthusiasm rather than any shame nor embarrassment]
The first time I saw the sky, so vast in all directions, I fainted!

[ There's a chillingness to her tone, one reflective of what a dragon truly offers this world. It is not 'hope' to most, nor creation. It is will and the end, if they so fear them. Dany does not dread on the topic – there were far more beautiful things in the world here in front of her to focus on.
He weaves the beginnings of a tale that knit her eyebrows up in surprise. Even after the stories she has heard since arriving... this one was one of the more odd ones. ]
You have jokes, ser! [ The Below Lands...? ] What did these lands consist of if no sky or sun? And no stars?
no subject
Myddvai is a curious place.]
Our name sake is taken from the river we settle our cities along. The water runs warm all throughout the year and helps provide for our people. The Springtide, you see. I spent half my life there and half traveling the Above World. Sometimes, I still get dizzy in too open of spaces, it is... overwhelming. And magnificent, of course.
no subject
[ The name fumbles past her lips before she could catch it. Inquisitively, she tries to imagine a place such as that. Even when she was chained by her brother selling her to Drogo – she had the vastness of the world, more than she had ever known. Imagining a night without the stars and a day without the sun feels cold and hollow.
Then again, she thinks of days when she was a little girl and a time where she learned to be happier.
Once he answers and once he continues on, there's a nod. An understanding, ]
But, you have freedom. Possibilities. Hope. Is this place like your... Above World? It is not like Westeros, or anywhere I have read in a book. We have no magic freely used and no... devices to call upon one another. That is the overwhelming part.
no subject
Everett reaches to the nearest branch and uses some magic, a peach growing for him to pluck. That would be a pleasant addition to their table of snacks. And he's ever the show off. He hands it to her graciously, the skin fuzzy and ripe under her fingertips]
The Springtide cities are very much like Aefenglom. A bit dreary, but so very full of life. The Above Lands are more vibrant, though the vastness can lead to a certain... loneliness. It is difficult to be isolated, among my people, there isn't the space for it. Above. Well, there can be miles between you and the next living thing. Both can be overwhelming, in their own ways.
no subject
The peach was offered with a smoothness that makes her heart skip a beat — a gesture that reminds her almost of Daario. More humble, never crude. She offers a gracious nod. ]
It does sounds lonely, if you'll forgive my bluntness. In my life, what I've had was once ... nothing. Merely a house with a red door and a lemon tree, once upon a time. I've acquired cities, armies, and dragons. I suppose the sun always gave me hope when I left behind the house with the red door and my lemon tree. I can't ... imagine it being as you described your world.
no subject
We do still have some things in common. You mentioned dragons, what ever are those like in your world? Far different than I know them, if you consider them yours... [to Everett, they are deities, the idea of possessing one is not for a mortal to claim]
no subject
[ But, he mentions dragons and there's a saddened expression upon her face. She looks away as her chest grows tight. She remembers every ridge, every bump of her children's features — and it makes her pained. ]
They are magnificent. Miracles. Most lost to time, lost to history. However... the three brought back to the world are my children. Birthed from fire, raised by my hand.
no subject
You remind me of the Sunderroot Chieftain, Lady Sarnai. Though she is born of a Dragon, child to the Sun himself. The likeness makes me somewhat fretful! [he says with a teasing sort of chuckle]
She is a woman of willfully blind ambition. I should hope you are more keen to see. To look both forward and backward on your path towards influence, here.
no subject
You have to be to survive in a world of men. One day, it will not be as such.
[ All of his tales — the locations, the people. There's a small smirk on her features as she comes to understanding everything he tells her. Her mind can't keep up — painting pictures that were so ill-fitting, she's sure. ]
If I look back, I am lost, ser.
[ She will certainly take tea when offered — this is nice. This moment of relaxation is nice. ]
My path has always been forward, it is the only one I know. This Lady Sarnai, whether our traits are surface-deep or we are the same, it is a fault of mine to weigh the world on my shoulders. No time for simple strolls and tea. ... Thank you, for this.

genresworlds and he would be horrified to hear just any way women are treated in such places. People, by and large, do not suffer so much inequality, where he is from.Everything is pretty chill in Myddvai. He doesn't have the most serious perspective]
Looking back is not about finding a way. It is to see what was so important, in driving you forward. The path ahead is for hope, the view back is to reflect. To remember the red doors and lemon trees. To remember the love for one's children. Such small and large things will shape who we are and will become. [He speaks as wisely as he can, relaxing into his own chair at the table and looking across his garden. No lemon trees... he should grow one. A project for later.]
... Simple moments like these, though. I feel are best appreciated in the moment. You are very welcome. Your company is my pleasure, dear lady.
no subject
The way he speaks nearly breaks her heart. So vividly, so with confidence – it was unlike anything she had heard. When Tyrion instills his blunt reality of the world outside of castle walls, when Jorah pines his devotion so clearly in a silent stare. No one speaks to her without pretense – Everett has no reason to even honor her with this conversation, but here he was. ]
One day, I will return such a kindness. I will have good stories. One of hope – away from freedoms I've had to bring to the world. I will have tales for you of happier times, so far from the bad it would rival this moment.
no subject
Your good company is reward enough. I shall hope those good stories will occur soon enough. Perhaps, we will even share them in them! To have you as apart of my history, and to be apart of yours, would be an honor.
no subject
[ She sighs a bit, looking down. ]
Moments like this... to clear my mind and enjoy in simplicity... It felt so out of reach before. In that, I truly am thankful.
