Octeuril Catch all [Open!]
Who: Everett and anybody!
When: Throughout Octeuril
Where: Aefenglom
What: Gardening, Kittens, Quests- many OTA prompts inside!
Warnings: NSFW in some threads, will mark individually as needed.
[All prompts in header are OTA! Closed prompts will be below and marked accordingly. New and established CR both welcome, plotted or not! Will match format, if prose is preferred over brackets!]
Rainy Days, Here to Stay
A. Gardening for fun and competition
[Everett's cottage was a welcome sight, coming back from Dorchacht. He hasn't been a mirrorbound for long and yet, it felt enough like a home to him. His garden had been well taken care of in his absence, but after gaining so much more experience with his magic in Dorchacht, he was ready to really expand. He could let his neighbors have the more beautiful garden, after all!
He'll be happily recruiting any who wish to help him, offering them garden boxes of herbs and tea plants to take home with them in repayment. His tobacco plants he's protective of, but the lilies are off limits!
If gardening isn't in one's skill or knowledge set, that's just fine, Everett seems to be new to it himself, mostly relying on his magic to grow and maintain his garden. All the same, he didn't want to keep draining himself, so there is a stack of literature bought and borrowed on the subject. He's happy for others to take a look, or to write out instructions transcribed, for home care of gifted plants!
They just need to be mindful none of those books get wet. Everett enjoys working out in the rain, but it's difficult to not trek in the water and muck straight into his tidy cottage...]
B. Shelter from the downpour (aka The Kitten Giveaway)
[Throughout the month, Everett will be out and about his yard. He's landscaping the front portion with verdant rose bushes and hibiscus and ivy to crawl up the front porch of his cottage. Soon enough, it's overtaken with more green and blossoming flowers than it is wooden structure. HIs front gate is always left wide open and welcoming.
On this day, it's really pouring. He spies someone stuck out in it, waving to them from under his porch. There's a basket in his arm and he's stuffing it full of... kittens? Seems a family of strays was taking shelter and he felt a need to help. The neighbors keep feeding the local cats, but this was the first Everett saw of little ones. They should really be brought in.
As should the poor person out in the rain! Everett waves them in, warmly greeting even a perfect stranger. He's always happy to make friends.]
This way! My cottage is warm, do take shelter. It really is coming down today!
A Questing We Shall Go
A. Garden Troubles
[Everett loves him some fresh preserves! He's also just a very helpful man, aiding the old woman with her troubles would be on his to-do even without reward. He's happy to see someone else willing to indulge her. He's glad others are so kind!
He does not expect the issue to be puppies of all things. The same from the dream, even! Same kind of creature, at least. Everett was already very fond of the petal wolves, so he's careful not to harm any while shooing the majority away. One remains and it's a particularly pesky one, he's in need of the other helper to chase the pup into his arms. He catches the dog around the midsection and swings the creature up in his arms, looking it over appraisingly]
Caught you, little one! This is no place for you.... [it whimpers at him and. Oh. Huh.
He could understand just what it meant! How curious that is.]
B. Habitat for Refugees
[While he's more than happy to be out of Dorchacht, Everett is not content to leave the refugees without assistance. They're in real need of support and mentorship, autonomy is a frightening prospect! Everett does not want them slipping back into familiar habits or finding new, worse ones. Aefenglom may be a better place, but it's not perfect and these monsters could easily be taken advantage of if they're not well looked after. Everett is assisting on two, main fronts.
Firstly, thrifting! He's happy to gather some money up of his own and kind donation of other volunteers, using every coin of it wisely. With so many yard sales around the city, it's easy to get practical goods and furniture at a bargain. The housing for the refugees should be well stocked with living essentials in now time! Of course, assistance hunting down good deals and even just moving so much furniture would be very helpful to him.
Second, he's doing much the same as he did in Dorchacht, brightening up the neighborhood with plant life! His focus is on planting herbs, tea plants, and fruiting trees. Plants the refugees can easily tend to themselves and harvest for the local market or keep for themselves. Everett's eye is steadfastly on providing the practical!]

What are we to name these two helper pets of ours? They should match! [since they were found together, would be working together for their little flower operation, it only made sense to have matching names, right?]
no subject
Alright. Thank you for giving me this chance, and...
[ Well, now he's really gotta check it. Wataru lifts the pup for a moment, and then hums before quickly snuggling it back in his arms. ]
... she's a girl. They must be brother and sister.
no subject
[a moment's pause]
I've never been good at giving names. [his sister usually named his rats, she always had good ideas for fanciful names. Clementine was her call. Everett is at a loss for anything clever.
Don't let him think too long on this, Wataru, he'll probably end up with a dreadful pun]
no subject
Something related with flowers, perhaps? Because they're petalwolves.
[ Not an incredible idea but not bad either. ]
no subject
I think mine looks like a Daisy. And yours... hmm, Rose is much too obvious. Perhaps Dahlia would work? Daisy and Dahlia?
no subject
[ He has to admit so, with a tad of a blush, and he softly pets the newly named little girl and speaks to her. ]
Do you like it?
no subject
Much better to adopt them than set them into the danger of the Wilde again. I'm glad we could volunteer here, an added reward. [Everett will still take those homemade preserves, though, those sound delicious]
no subject
He now has a pet all for himself. Kivat might have a hard time getting used to the new house member. ]
Yeah. Good thing we thought of a quick solution for them... and I suppose our work is also done here?
[ Those two were the only ones causing trouble, it seems. ]
no subject
The pups can run about and tear up my yard a while. [he'll let them, to some degree, so they can have a designated burrow. He can always regrow his plants around it and incorporate the space into his landscaping]
no subject
Adjusting Dahlia in his arms, he nods, though he has to show a bit of concern. ]
I hope they don't literally destroy everything, otherwise we'll have to catch them again.
[ One dive was enough for his poor body. ]
no subject
My own cottage is not far. Let us collect our reward, I look forward to this fruit spread on some biscuits! [a well deserved tea time, sounds like! Everett will stride to the home and happily show off the little trouble maker in his arms. The old woman seems unsure about them taking such destructive things with them, but the faun assures her they'll be trained and looked after closely so they don't cause any more damage.
His eyes glisten happily behind his glasses to be given a basket of preserves to take with them, enough for the two of them.]
What prizes we've gotten! A fine day, this is, one to cherish. [Everett's a grateful man, never one to let a good moment go unappreciated]
I thank you for joining me on this little adventure, Wataru. Have you been settling in well, since arriving?
no subject
Once out of the area, he looks slightly amused at the excited faun, smiling a bit himself. ]
Here's to many more days like these, honestly. [ He nods, allowing Dahlia to nibble his finger with her nub teeth. ]
Thank you for also helping me out. [ A pause as he thinks. ] Well, it's been... relatively calm since my arrival. I'm trying my best to get accustomed to the new place and culture, but I'm still having a difficult time frequenting the Coven and learning about all sorts of magic I never heard of before.
no subject
Especially not now, if he couldn't take this puppy with him]
no subject
[ He had a whole different type of superpower, which was being a Rider and sending enemies through the walls with his kicks. Wataru never thought he could miss that, of all things. ]
As for my heritage... I was what I would be commonly defined as a Dhampyr. I had a human father and a... vampire mother. [ Fangire, but he'd like to use a more common term that describes the similar kind of monsters. ]
no subject
Vampires seem to exist in many worlds and in all sorts of varieties. Those of my world are peculiar sorts of immortals. What are yours like?
no subject
[ He muses, rubbing the underside of Dahlia's chin. ] They can also function perfectly fine in the sunlight, and can have regular lives like humans.
[ Many of them used that as an advantage to approach and then hunt humans for their life essences, but he's making no word of that. ]
no subject
Different still from here, where they cannot be beneath the sun at all. Curious, the differences in details, but similarities in titles.
no subject
[ Now he feels kind of lucky that he wasn't given vampire features here, in spite of his heritage. ]
Fauns were one of the few who didn't exist back home, however.
no subject
[he's enjoying his garden very much, going into the dreams this place inspires has been... less thrilling, save the rather pleasant one in which he met Wataru]
no subject
Did you own a garden in your home world, too?
no subject
What he does sound fond of is his work]
When I became a diplomat, I traveled too much for such a thing. The change of pace is rather nice, here. Settling into a cottage with a garden all my own. [and while he'd appreciate help with it and running a business out of it, he'd still always be doing work himself, not one to sit back on his laurels.]
no subject
You were a diplomant, even? Was there a lot of conflict where you lived?
[ He's probably making too many questions, but he's quick to beat his self-doubts into the curb. ]
no subject
[he sighs, wistful, in a very casual oh well manner, not too fussed at all]
I'd done a decent enough job of it, though now I am here... someone else will need to take up the mantle, if I do not find my way back.
no subject
Mmm. [ He nods slowly. ] I sincerely hope someone else will pick up what you've left.
[ Dahlia steals his attention with whinings and puppy licks... he looks down at her. ] Are you hungry?
no subject
What do you like, little one? [he gets a quick answer, which makes him laugh] Yes, yes, food! I could guess that. What kind of food? [BARK BARK]
OKay, okay... mushrooms! It seems, is what they enjoy. I do remember the old woman mention her mushrooms were first to go. [Everett.... thinks he will go get a book on these animals soon enough, to check in on this. Apart of him is suspicious that if you asked a child what they like the eat, they'd say CANDY. Of which a healthy diet would not make. He's got his dad instincts on high]
