[Tongue between his teeth, he sketches out the changes - a little more length to the grip, a more distinct curve to the blade, a slight thinning of it to make it look a little sleeker.] Something more like this? It'd be tricky with the blade shape, but I think I could make it retractable into the grip. The enchantment would have to... [He trails off in a mumble, jotting down a few things in blocky Norse to the side of the sketches.]

Adaptability is... It's necessary sometimes. My father was- he was as rigid a leader as they come, a good one, but- firm. [He smiles a little over at Toothless, fond and somehow sad at the same time.] But he still found a way to embrace change and be who he needed to be for Berk. For me. So if this is how you adapt to being here, there's- there's nothing wrong with that.

[Her gaze catches his, and he flushes immediately, with something like embarrassment or self-deprecation.] I'm- you know, I'm not that special. I'm not nearly as experienced as you are. But- I'll support you, however you need me to.
