Who: Azura + open
When: latter half of Septeril
Where: all over Aefenglom
What: Some part-time job stuff, some bond-searching stuff
Warnings: mild nsfw on the Victorious Secret prompt, otherwise none
I. part-time jobs
[ With the everything that's been going on, lately, Azura decides to keep herself busy. Less time to think and worry. So once she gets back Dorchacht, she almost immediately signs up for two part-time jobs, enough to fill her schedule without being an overload. ]
a - Snapped String
[ Well, it's...not a singing job, but it's music, so she'll take it. She doesn't actually know how to play any instruments, though, so it's a learning experience. She's taken to tuning lutes in particular, being the sort of instruments she's heard the most, gently, vocalizing the notes as they come and noting any inconsistencies. Out of any of the places Azura spends her day, she seems to be the happiest here, and you may catch her singing a song or two. ]
b - Victorious Secret
[ Here's another thing Azura is good at: keeping a straight face when things get completely and utterly ridiculous. Which helps, because she's there during its busiest hours and in various forms of what this shop considers "dress." If anyone approaches her, she speaks up: ]
If you want to buy something, you'll have to check with the clerk. I'm just a model. Though, I think this one is on the affordable end...? It's a three-in-one potion.
[ She tugs on the end of her nightgown, which is just barely that...all while looking like this is normal and she's discussing tuning lutes and not racy clothes. ]
--
II - around the Haven
[ She's had a feeling she knows why she's been feeling sick lately. The restlessness, the snappishness, the headaches, dear gods, she's never had headaches this bad or this frequent before. Eventually, it gets too much for even Azura to withstand, so on the last day of Septeril, she takes a short trip to the hospital. But, well, she gets a confirmation it's not sickness exactly, and there's not much they can do for her. So Azura heads home, taking the long way back to the Haven.
So, bonds. She doesn't have one, doesn't know where to get one, and has no one to ask about getting one. What is she supposed to do? Talk to people, make some friends, she guesses, but that's pulling her out of every comfort zone she has. She's largely kept to herself the whole time she's been here, so of course she needs to start doing something now, as soon as possible, before she accidentally blows something--or someone, or herself--up. But thinking about that makes her nervous, enough to make her start walking faster, and then her head starts to ache again, and when she closes her eyes to block out the light, there's a cracking sound.
It takes her a moment or two to peel her eyes open again.
A nearby tree took the brunt of the "static", a wave of uncontrolled magic making a dent in the bark and blackening it. It wasn't a serious hit, but the damage to the tree is noticeable, and was loud enough to alert someone in the vicinity. ]
I, um--
[ She looks around. Nobody saw that, right? But if she sees someone nearby, she averts her eyes and pulls her cloak's hood up over her. ]
....what--what do I do? I--
[ .......... ]

(( For the second prompt, this is a sort of putting out feelers if anyone is interested in doing bond stuff with Azura in the next month or so, or sooner, as she's starting to get the more intense symptoms of being a bondless witch. I don't have any options OOCly so I'm game for anyone in her general age range (she's 19).
Feel free to pm me or hit me up at
hakurei if you want a custom prompt or wanna discuss any of this o/ ))

I-b
Azura, on the other hand, seems perfectly normal and at ease, even in this situation. She's so impressed that, between customers approaching them to ask questions about the potions, she lets a thought slip out.]
You're... really good at this.
[Don't mind her suddenly averting her eyes a bit. She just happened to realize she was looking Azura up and down in that barely-there nightgown, and the last thing she wants is to stare too much.]
no subject
[ blink blink ]
I've never had a job in sales before.
[ azura that's not what she means........... ]
no subject
[She's blushing, but surprisingly not because of her own or the other girl's outfits. Saying that has forced her to think what she would actually consider this job. Beyond just testing, they're also there to be looked at as examples of the product, and maybe give testimonials - more living advertisements than salespeople.]
You just... well... you look incredible... and comfortable, even wearing something like this in front of people...
[She hadn't been doing so bad herself, though her apparent (partial) confidence is cracking just a little bit the more she thinks about why she's impressed by Azura.]
no subject
[ she thinks about this for a moment ]
Well, I used to dance professionally. For theaters and the like. Most of the costumes I've worn have been fairly showy, so I suppose I'm just used to wearing this sort of clothing.
[ FE dancer outfits are ridiculous]
no subject
So you'd... perform, kinda like this?
[The flush of her cheeks flares up again, and her eyes shift away briefly in an attempt to refocus. After a moment, she lifts her gaze to look Azura in the eyes again.]
I guess... this is easier, huh? We just have to kind of... stand around, and maybe answer questions.
[Both jobs still involve being looked at while wearing very little, though.]
no subject
I'm not much for customer service, truthfully. But it's reading from a script either way.
[ a musical versus...How Can I Help You Today ]
no subject
[She awkwardly rubs at the back of her neck, still kind of embarrassed but also getting to feel a little more comfortable with this girl the more they talk.]
I don't know why I keep ending up modeling clothes in this place.
I-a
But music is always pleasant.
He catches a glimpse of a familiar face and waves, though his expression appears distant, almost.]
Music truly soothes the soul, does it not?
How long have you been working here?
no subject
[ she plucks at the strings as she talks. Azura....very obviously only has a week's worth of experience playing a lute, but she's trying. ]
Are you looking for something soothing? My instrument-playing isn't in that field, unfortunately.
no subject
Well, I think you're doing a lovely job for only having a week's experience. [He wiggles his fingers in front of his face.]
I have slender fingers. Do you think I'd be able to play something?
no subject
[ the fuck happened there ]
You're asking the wrong person, I'm afraid. But I believe the piano is one of the more beginner-friendly instruments...?
no subject
Are you sure it's not that no one has bothered to form a theater group, yet?
[A pause and a nod.]
I could always just press on some keys and see what comes of it, then!
no subject
[ a pause ]
Mmm. This one should be tuned properly, if you'd like to give it a go.
no subject
That makes him wonder what could have happened to warrant such a knee-jerk response, but he won't press further. He's distracted by the allure of those ivory keys, anyway, as evidenced by how quickly he moves to seat himself upon the bench.
He cracks his knuckles and hits a few keys, almost instantly warranting a loud, echoing sound to overtake the entire room.]
I was just warming up! [He says, but --
He isn't really well-versed in this sort of thing.]
no subject
[ DO PIANOS EVEN SCREECH. IS DAZAI JUST THAT BAD. ]
II
[Someone did see that, but is hardly concerned about the tree or the noise. It's surely had worse than a little static.]
no subject
Her hands are shaking and she keeps looking between him and the tree. ]
I...I don't know...
no subject
He reaches out a hand to steady her.]
Do you live far from here? I'll escort you home.
no subject
[ She shrinks away and takes a step back ]
Please don't, I don't...need someone to walk me home, it's fine.
no subject
[He lets her pull away, but stays close just in case she does need assistance.]
Please, allow me to help you.
no subject
[ Azura grips her cloak tighter and backs up even more ]
I can't just go home, now! Don't you understand what that was?
no subject
But if not to your home, then where? The coven perhaps?
[Either way he can't leave a lady in distress on her own.]
no subject
[ she's just gonna. turn around and walk back. if he wants to follow. ]
no subject
Well, wherever you're bound for, I'll see you get there safely.
I-a
W-wow, you're, uh, pretty good!
[This is her attempt at small talk.]
no subject
Anyhow. ]
I'm assuming you don't mean my mediocre lute-playing? Thank you.
no subject
The lute...? Oh, no, I mean your singing! N-n-not that your lute playing is bad or anything!
[Two sentences into this conversation and Alphys already has her foot in her mouth, good job.]
no subject
On the contrary, my playing is still quite dreadful. But again, thank you. There don't seem to be any jobs suitable for a singer in this city, but instrument-tuning is interesting on its own.
no subject
Y-yeah, you know, me and my friend noticed that when we arrived. This place isn't really big on theater, huh?
no subject
No. I noticed that. Something big happened to cause the ban, but I wasn't able to find out what.
