[ There's a brief pause while he frowns slightly at her before it occurs that of course she wouldn't know about that -- if nothing else has struck as familiar so far, why should history? ]

Ah. The great war of the gods, some thousand or so years ago. It left it's mark on the world, to put it mildly.

Your Gods make their battles so clear?

[ It was half smartmouthed, half curious. Daenerys had not seen the Gods of her world – not had she intended to. But, she picks up on the tension of his words. ]

Oh yes.

[ There's a dry amusement to his tone, and it curves just slightly at the corners of his mouth. ]

Less so now. But they have their way of making themselves known.

Through the will of evil men or miracles, I'd say. [ Of course, that's her bitterness speaking. ] Have... you seen one of your Gods?

Personally? No.

[ Percy's never had that sort of connection. Or sought one, really. But he's seen enough to have very few doubts in that direction. ]

I've seen the work they do through a very dear friend.

[ The implication is strong, making her gaze drop a bit. ]

I see. [ She wouldn't dwell, not let it fester. ] Men leave their work known as well. Perhaps we are not much different than Gods.

[ Just look at the tradition of fighting pits and chained slaves, no God created those decrees. ]

The fun part of life is undoing that work, isn't it?

[ Percy's eyebrows lift a little, a very small smile flickering across his face. ]

Not everything, I'd hope. Men or gods. We leave behind what marks we can, so that we'll be remembered. For good or otherwise.

[ It's always about legacy, isn't it. I live while Whitestone lives, he can hear in his own voice, and Percy can only hope that's still true. ]

I'd like to think what I leave behind are positives. I'd like to hope.

I'd like to leave behind a world good and fair. The Gods or kings of my world do not feel those words are for everyone.

[ The legacy she wants to leave undoes her family's terror. Breaks chains and frees those who need it. She may leave no child behind, but she can leave hope. ]

What do you wish to leave behind, ser?

[ A small, almost humorless smile flits across his face at the question. Something besides weapons, though it seems almost too late for that, now. Percy will always have a legacy of blood, and it's not something he can stop.

But can he make up for it, is the question. ]

A name spoken of well. A chance for civilization to continue. [ He can't help but shake his head a little. Doesn't sound like much, listed out that way. ] My lifespan is comparatively short. I'd like to say I made the most of it.
