[open] pre-gaming, the dignitary variety

Who: Anyone invested in the Dorchacht Dilemma or planning to visit Dorchacht through the event.
When: Septeril 1st, late evening
Where: The Sly Seadog
What: Planning
Warnings: Who the eff knows

[ It was getting late in the evening, but it was crucial to meet up. Daenerys – with the help of some more technologically savvy people – offered invitations to anyone who seemed interested in the affair with Dorchacht.

They meet at the Sly Seadog: a run-down little dive of a tavern, found along a narrow back-alley in the harbour, frequented by sailors, welcoming to Monsters and humans alike. The crowd is dense for this early in the "night", but still a few drunkards pawning off their last bit of money for a little bit more booze.

It was not up to a standard she would prefer, but it's something and it's relatively quiet. Three long tables can fit enough people for their meeting – and there's some standing room at the bar. Time to get down to business, right?

Feel free to top level, make points, argue, etc. ]

While Yako's been mostly silent, listening to others interject with their viewpoints, this is a perspective she agrees with, and she'll raise her voice in support.

"We just don't know enough about Dorchacht itself, or how long this has been going on," she offers. "Based on records I found in the dream, I do know that they were in favor of Serwyl da Uathmar ruling Geardagas, and that they got the idea to use monsters as shock troops. But that doesn't tell us much about the resistance itself ... and they weren't willing to let us into their confidence, even if they were willing to help."

It doesn't immediately occur to her that people might not even know who she's referring to, there. Her teeth worry at her lip.

"I want to help these people, but I don't think we're in a position to dictate to them what help they need."

"I found it while I was looking at what Dorchacht's Coven might have as far as historical accounts go..." Yako shakes her head, realizing she might have to backtrack a bit. "Da Uathmar was a tyrant who was deposed some three hundred years ago. His castle used to be in Aefenglom, actually, before the Coven overthrew him and destroyed it."

At the question, though, Yako shakes her head.

"They were willing to teach magic to help fight the compulsion from the wall's spell, and lead people to safety ... but I didn't learn much else. I wonder if they're real people -- and if they'll remember us."

"I think Aefenglom would have its own history of da Uathmar, but I haven't looked into it much myself. The first time I heard that name was from a professor at Undermael College, but I think he's more like a figure of legend after this long. Dorchacht's accounts were a little more ... positive about him."

Yako pauses, uncertain.

"When we dreamed of Aefenglom destroyed during Litha, the people who were there were all knew they were dreaming, too, but that didn't seem to be true in that case." She folds her hands together, soberly. "Did you also dream of the fae in Dewaint Forest, or the nymphs burning in the wood? Those seemed to take place in a different time than our own, and they didn't seem to have awareness that it was a dream, so I thought we might have been experiencing a shared vision of the past -- or they weren't in a position to make demands of Aefenglom."

“It’s possible, but for the dream of Dewaint Forest and the fire at least, I believe it’s unlikely,” Yako says this with certainty, ticking off the points on her hands.

“In the dream with the Fae, they spoke of the Queen and the courts — both of which are, to the best of the knowledge of the Fae in the city, either no longer in existence or haven’t been seen in a long time. For the dream of the fire — Professor Bell told me that before the Cwyld infected so much of the Wilde, historical accounts say that Fauns tended forests and springs alongside Nymphs... but they’ve been mostly extinct for some time. Given the number of them still alive in the dream, it would have had to be a time before they were wiped out.”

She pauses, then sheepishly waves her hands in front of her face. “That’s not to say everything in a dream follows logic or time, of course. We could very well have been experiencing events totally out of order, or someone’s made-up version of it. But in the dream about the nymphs, not all of the witches were from Aefenglom. Some were from another place called Faegar — if an operation like that really took place, there might be a record of it somewhere.”
