[open] pre-gaming, the dignitary variety

Who: Anyone invested in the Dorchacht Dilemma or planning to visit Dorchacht through the event.
When: Septeril 1st, late evening
Where: The Sly Seadog
What: Planning
Warnings: Who the eff knows

[ It was getting late in the evening, but it was crucial to meet up. Daenerys – with the help of some more technologically savvy people – offered invitations to anyone who seemed interested in the affair with Dorchacht.

They meet at the Sly Seadog: a run-down little dive of a tavern, found along a narrow back-alley in the harbour, frequented by sailors, welcoming to Monsters and humans alike. The crowd is dense for this early in the "night", but still a few drunkards pawning off their last bit of money for a little bit more booze.

It was not up to a standard she would prefer, but it's something and it's relatively quiet. Three long tables can fit enough people for their meeting – and there's some standing room at the bar. Time to get down to business, right?

Feel free to top level, make points, argue, etc. ]

Yeah, but...

[Steven leans against the table, with his hand on his chin. That he's feeling a lot of doubt is obvious.]

...We are dangerous, aren't we? No one should be treated like Dorchacht treats monsters, but...

We accidentally hurt people. I mean... I have. I've accidentally hurt people.

Witches are dangerous too. [America's aware he's talking to a child, so he's doing more to regulate his tone than he would be in most circumstances, but the frustration of the views and problems of monsters is definitely evident in his voice.] They can accidentally misfire a spell or I guess blow up. [Admittedly, America has only heard about that blowing up thing.] And they can do dangerous stuff on purpose, too, obviously.

It's different. At least, for me.

[Steven is theoretically talking about monsters generally, but he's really just talking about himself. There's a self-loathing edge in his tone.]

Being a witch doesn't change who you are.

[And Steven's hit on a particular issue America has, too. His response is firm and certain because it makes him feel better to say it that way.] We're still the same people we were before.

Most of the time, I guess, but during the Full Moon everything is... different.

I act so mean and terrible to other people, and I only think about myself. It just... doesn't feel like me at all.

That's not you, it's like--this Aefenglom thing that got added into us. [America's tail swishes like an agitated cat.] It's different from you even if it's in you right now.

Maybe... but I'm still the one doing it.

If monsters do this kind of stuff all the time I can understand being scared of them. It just isn't fair to treat them like slave or prisoners, either.

People should be scared of witches, too, though. [They made it snow in the middle of summer without asking anyone! America will never get over that.] People just don't 'cause everyone who isn't a monster is one, I bet, so it's like default here.

I think the ones in the Coven are kinda different. They use magic way more than most of the regular people in the city. I don't think they have problems unless you have a lot of magical potential.

None of us have really seen a witch lose control...
