Who: Yuya + Anyone
When: Post Auguril-10th, through the month
Where: Magic classes, the outskirts of the city, around
What: Yuya's giving this magic thing a try + the Out of the City Quest
Warnings: Explosions
[Universal]
Yuya hadn't been very serious about the magic classes when he first arrived. Sure, he attended them, but he wasn't really listening. As the days drag on, though, it's increasingly obvious he's not getting out anytime soon, and a few more practiced witches emphasize his magical potential means he really should be exerting it, not ignoring it, because there are risks. That seems to be the other side from monsters--is blowing up worse than going completely feral?
Teleportation ends up around the top of the list as something cool and useful, while he's perusing the vast amount of subjects. Who wouldn't want to be able to snap their fingers and just appear wherever they want to go?
Well, it ends up taking more focus and verbal incantation than that, but the result is the same. Almost. After a few hours of repeating the spell, he manages the point of being able to leave his position. What's harder to get consistently is ended up in the location he means to.
So sometimes he just shows up, right here, phasing into the room or out in the street without a lot of fanfare. He opens one eye first, then the other, looking a little dumbstruck as first to whatever he interrupted.
[Alchemy]
He really should have known better. Science is one of his worst subjects. How did he think magical chemistry was going to go better?
It's during one of the smaller evening classes that, from one classroom, there's a muted boom and small whiffs of smoke slip through the cracks of the door. But even that much carries a putrid scent to it. There response elevates inside to loud objections and groans.
Yuya swings the door open a moment later, his hand cover his mouth and nose as the rank scent starts to escape the room in full force, like standing in the way of old, soaked laundry. At the opposite end of the room, the instructor is opening a window for the little good it'll do.
[Out of the City]
Yuya remembers his experience with Cwyld in the dream of the forest, but it doesn't quite prepare him for seeing a more sickly decline of the people outside the wall. He obliges with instructions to put on a mask and gloves, and provide what relief he can--with minimal magic given his poor progress. He helps with sorting donated supplies and bringing them to other volunteers with more experience than him.
He's particularly attentive to younger children, passing out donated toys and entertaining them with small acrobatic feats and juggling. It's easier to keep up a smile for them, seeing a difference it makes. He doesn't ask after their parents if he doesn't see them... just in case.

Or she did. She backs up a step when the door opens and the reek really hits, her thin scaly lips curling away from her many blunt teeth. "Is this smoke? Did you put the wrong thing into a crucible?"
no subject
At least, nobody else's beakers suddenly burst into smoke and moldy scent.
no subject
"I do hope," she says faintly, "that whoever is responsible at least knows what they did that it might be averted in the future. That is an unusual smell." From her limited experience it's typically more acrid and less... moldy.
no subject
Nobody else is inclined to stay among the scent, either, and the rest of the students start pushing by Yuya and Toby to filter into the halls. Yuya grunts as he's pushed before squeezing out the doorway as well. "It'll go away."
Hopefully.
no subject
She backs another step away so the fleeing students don't have to get too close to her blades. "I suppose no one was hurt so much as alarmed."
