★FIRST EVER WITCH & MONSTER SPEED DATING!
Who: All the people who signed up for Speed Dating!
When: Aguril 10th, 7PM-11PM
Where: The Little Melody music hall, side room.
What: Steven has organized a speed dating event for witches and monsters to meet each other. This log is closed to helpers and people who have signed up on the OOC event post.
Warnings: Good clean fun. Hopefully.

Finally, the day arrives. Steven will have contacted everyone coming by watch in advance, giving them the venue information and confirming their arrival. It turns out that he has arranged for a side room in the Little Melody music hall to be used for this event - he's made a positive enough impression with some of them that he managed to get it without charge, in exchange for doing chores around the hall. It's a somewhat ornate music room with a piano, chairs along the walls, 10 tables set up for dates, and one larger table set up with a potluck 'buffet' or sorts.
The offerings definitely include at least one quiche and one pie, provided by Papyrus, complete with a little note card thanking him and a description of what each food is. Papyrus's pies are actually pretty okay, even if the crust is a little crispy in places. Alongside that is water, a couple types of juice, and four trays of sandwiches: ham with cheese, chicken salad, egg salad, and veggie. Beyond that, Steven will display anything people bring with them, and write up little note cards to go along with the others.
Each table is set up with a lit candle and a sheet with a series of 'Icebreaking Questions', which read as follows:
1) What would you take with you to a desert island?
2) If you had to be someone else for a day, who would you be and why?
3) If you could invite anyone, dead or alive, to dinner, who would it be?
4) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
5) What would be your ideal holiday destination?
6) What's the most reckless thing you've ever done?
7) What makes you laugh?
8) Do you have a party trick?
9) If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be?
10) What time in history would you have liked to be born in and why?
11) What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?
12) What would be the title of your biography?
13) What is your favourite restaurant meal?
14) If you were given 1,000,000 cunes what would you spend it on?
Of course, using these questions is optional. Each date will last FIVE MINUTES, during which Steven and Elliot will be playing music to accompany on piano and violin. Towards the end of the five minute period, they will ramp up the tempo a bit to indicate that you are almost done, and then stop to tell people to change tables. During the whole proceeding, Steven will be projecting a sort of ambient illusion over the room, making the roof look like twinkling stars and leaving impossible to touch sparkles in the air.
OOCLY, I have made top levels below for every participating character, indicating who they have been randomly selected to tag. ICly, all witches will presumably have the chance to talk to all monsters, but since it isn't realistic to expect everyone to do 10 threads, we are starting with two tag outs. Beyond that, you can tag out to any additional people that you like. Find you character's name down below, see who you are assigned to tag (and who you have been tagged by!) and start a thread as soon as you are able. I understand that life happens and not all of these threads will happen, but it would be really cool if they could! I recommend keeping tags short and light to ease the load - and also because that seems suited to Speed Dating, anyway.
After the dating session is over, you can also make general mingle threads of people hanging out afterwards. The dating will only take about an hour, and Steven has the venue booked until 11PM.
NOTE: When you have an idea how your threads are going, please fill out the Google Form to submit your character's grades for each date. This is mostly just so you can have the fun of seeing who would formally approve of and reject your character.

MARY
Re: MARY
He offers a hand to Mary, to shake.] Hi, I'm Yuya Sakaki. It's nice to meet you.
[Practiced, polite, it's still a little hazy to him that he signed up to begin with but it sounds like bonds are pretty important, so it wasn't a bad decision.]
no subject
Hi, Yuya! I'm Mary.
[Unlike Yuya, Mary is clearly not practiced with any of this. When he finally lets go of poor Yuya's hand, he proceeds to tuck his chair too far under the table, squishing his chest in the process, and has to loudly hop the chair back again. At least he's quick to recover. Once he can breathe again, the questions are instantaneous.]
How'd you get your hair like that? Was it on purpose?
no subject
[He reaches to pull as some of it, having not received a question like that before. His eyes roll up.] I don't do anything on purpose. It's natural?
[Yes. The green and red split is natural.]
no subject
Woooow. Not even mine is natural! It's almost like you were born a witch!
no subject
[There's just some sort of weird hair genetics going on in anime land.] You dye yours?
no subject
I had brown hair and eyes when I was human. They changed when I became a vampire. I guess that's something that always happens where I'm from.
no subject
[A vampire, just like in stories... well, if monsters are real here it stands to reason they're real elsewhere.] So are you still a vampire or did coming here change that?
no subject
[Mary frowns as he tries to figure this out, glaring intently down at the table.]
A different kind of vampire? Now I'm the kind of vampire you hear about in the stories, instead of a real vampire.
[No, vampires in his own world are just unique.]
I'm an undead vampire!
no subject
Does that mean you can't go out in the day?
no subject
Nope, I can't. Not without my hood up anyway.
Speaking of-
[Mary reaches across the table to poke at poor Yuya's goggles.]
Do you have anything like these but sunglasses?
no subject
[He smiles before pushing them back up his head.] They're cool, right?

[Well, what an enthusiastic welcome! There is some honest relief in those brief words, though, even if it may not be obvious: Konoe is no good at socializing, and being tossed into a room full of people he doesn't know and then being expected to talk to them is a little overwhelming. A familiar face is very welcome indeed.]
... Have you thrown yourself into any more fires lately?
[That's not the question on the card, Konoe.]
no subject
[Mary's lips immediately contort into a pout as he slouches into his seat. Is this frustration that Konoe would think of him that way or disappointment over the fact that he hasn't had the chance? That's left up to Konoe to decide.]
I don't know that it'd do anything to me anymore anyway....
[Just kidding. It was the latter. Of course it was.]
no subject
... It wouldn't do anything to you?
[He can make an educated guess as to why, of course, but. He'd rather not jump to conclusions when he can just ask.]
no subject
[Mary stretches an arm over top the table, inviting Konoe to take his hand. His body no longer produces its own heat, and thus his temperature has equalized with that of the air.]
See? I'm all cold now.
no subject
He lets go again, but an uncomfortable feeling lingers, somehow. He has to say something. He can't not say something.]
... That's all the more reason to look for a fire to heat you up.
[KONOE?!]
no subject
You think? Like a lizard or a snake?
no subject
Y-Yes... Like a lizard... or something.
no subject
[Oh, wait-]
But don't worry. I'll do it while you're not around so you don't have to watch.
no subject
[That's a lie. It's totally reassuring: just watching a fire would be terrible, nevermind anything else. But that doesn't mean Konoe will admit as much.
He will at least make an effort to (very belatedly) avoid a mess, though.]
Don't jump into it. You can just warm yourself on it.
no subject
no subject
[It's just barely that one syllable, but Konoe means it wholeheartedly. Not wanting to be cooked is a definite improvement for Mary, he thinks!]
... Why are you so cold, anyway?
no subject
[Mary ducks his head like he's embarrassed. His answer is half-whispered. Nobody else at the event need hear.]
Well, you know how the vampires in the stories are undead? I'm one of those vampires now.
