[ amadeus frowns. ]

Remain still now, if you can help it. I don't want to leave you here more injured than when we began.

[ he meant it — the wound looks terrible, but to think the poor fellow can't even nod without flashes of pain. he supposes sleep would be a far-gone thing ... if he weren't around.

amadeus takes a seat in a chair to the side, not facing his patient, as he doesn't need to like a doctor or a nurse might. so confident in his skill, amadeus hasn't quite begun, and won't, for the moment. it's their first chance to have a proper chat here in their newfound, spacetime-traveled home, after all, and he's not so rude as to knock out the other servant in the middle of it.

as it happens, he needs time to tune his violin anyway, which he plucks from its case and adjusts to his shoulder. ]

I'm barely in the good graces of your nurses as it is, ahahaha. [ he continues. ] Whisper at me if you need to – I'll be able to hear it. [ a wink for good measure. ]

I am. Pleased to finally meet you, Your Majesty.

[ Still wincing a bit, Arthur manages a shaky smile in return to the other man. He couldn't really blame Mozart for wanting to talk more before sending him off to sleep. The King of Knights from another world has kept to himself a lot and if Cú Chulainn's initial reaction to him was to call him "that hiding guy", then he assumes he's already gotten himself something of a reputation around Chaldea as someone who's hard to pin down. ]

My thanks... and my apologies for the delayed nature of our meeting. It isn't that I had no interest in meeting a genius composer such as yourself-- or anyone else, for that matter. I am also happy to make your acquaintance as well, even with circumstances as they are.

[ His admission of guilt is a bit embarrassing, but he feels it's only right to be honest. He doesn't go so far as to explain why he's chosen to keep to himself so much, but he does want to make it clear that it isn't anyone else's fault he's done so. ]

[ even bruised and beaten, arthur exudes the holy glow of chivalry and decorum, amadeus thinks. the composer is the last to be offended by the king's ducking company, and much more the last to pry, so the assurance and good show of etiquette simply for their lack of meeting makes him laugh. ]

Oh? Consider the debt repaid, then — in your generous compliments, my King. [ "genius," he says. how sweet of him to notice! ]

As long as you've got a functioning pair of ears on you, we're sure to get along spectacularly. [ that now being said, the orchestral hum of a collective band tuning sounds quietly between them.

losing his familiars was a heavy blow. but while he had become so reliant on mystical access to any instrument a conductor might need, he studies night and day learning the proper conjuring spells to emulate the same thing. or, close to it, anyway. ]

[ Arthur sometimes does forget himself when his insecurities and fears are pressed upon the most, but most of the time, he is polite and sincere in how he speaks with others. He never lies outright, even if it would be more convenient for him, so Amadeus can also rest assured that Arthur has indeed already heard his work before now and means what he's said to him from his own experience. The knight-king smiles softly. He might not know anything, on an expert's level, about music, but is it not the nature of music that one need not possess any expertise -- only a beating heart -- to understand it? ]

Thankfully, this place has not robbed me of those just yet.

[ Speaking of his transformations... ]

I am relieved to see that you've mostly been able to keep your usual characteristics and talents. At least some of the Servants need only relearn the skills they knew before being brought here. Have you been well?
