[ Sucks for Saber though, whoever he is. Chasing after this idiot into a swarm of venomous bugs... that sure doesn't sound like a fun time. ]
You're lucky you didn't get infected.
[ Or he really would've never heard the end of it from Waver! ]
Hey. Lean forward a bit. I need to put more pressure on the cut, so if it hurts, I'm just trying to stop the bleeding before dressing it.

[ Probably a lie, but he's still annoyed that Arthur got himself hurt worse by rushing in after him. Even though he's no longer a Servant, he can take a lot more damage than the average person and continue to fight through it. A Berserker's nature is hard to erase, even with magic.
He leans forward further as he's asked. Maybe he's more patient with this because he's tired or maybe he's trying to be ... a little bit nicer to Waver. ]
Nothing you can do can make it hurt worse than it already does.

[ If you say so.
Waver won't hold back applying pressure as needed, but he's never unnecessarily harsh. His hands are soft, and warm-- warmer than a human's, these days. He's learned to be careful of his claws. ]
Are you worried about him?
[ For all his stumbling and awkwardness in certain social situations, and easily-sparked temper notwithstanding, Waver is actually quite good at reading people. He's gotten more familiar with Berserker too, even if he is still often too deadpan to make it particularly easy.
The question slips out in genuine curiosity-- and maybe a little to distract Berserker as he works to clean his wounds as efficiently as possible so he can put the ointments on them. ]

Berserker remains impassive under any pressure. If anything, he's a model patient. At Waver's question, he doesn't immediately answer. It's a difficult thing for him to admit to; being concerned for the well-being of himself, let alone anyone else, is still such an alien concept. ]
Yes. [ Arthur is an ally, after all. They shared a home at times, which made Berserker protective of him. These newfound instincts complicate matters. ] Cwyld infection is more dangerous in dragons...
[ Why does that bother him? It shouldn't be his concern that Arthur got himself injured and infected. Berserker did what needed to be done and took him to people that could care for him. That should be enough, shouldn't it? ]
...I don't trust the Coven to take care of him, either.
[ He doesn't trust most people, a result of the life he'd led. This time, though, it's more of his protective instincts taking over. He should be able to take care of his own and having that control taken from him is frustrating. ]

While Berserker speaks -- sharing more than Waver had expected him to -- Waver finishes cleaning up the wounds on his back and starts rubbing the ointment into them carefully, placing the enchanted self-stick bandages as he goes. He's been stocking up from work, just in case. It's a good habit, apparently. ]
The Coven are best-equipped around here to take care of infections like that. There's nothing you can do but put yourself at more risk for no reason.
[ Still, he instinctively understands that protective urge to care for one's own. Better than he had before, even. They have that in common, even if they're completely different Monsters in other respects.
Even so, Waver at least likes to pretend that he's the practical sort. ]
If you're worried about him, you can go visit tomorrow. If the healers there say you can. Right now, the best thing you can do is keep out of their hair and give your body some time to stop bleeding.
[ ... ]
Also. Maybe consider buying more practical armor if you're going to be tromping around in The Wilde on the regular.

[ It was true -- the caterpillars were strong enough to crack the metal of his breastplate. The parts that weren't covered caused the problem, too. ]
My armor's served me well enough in the past...I was careless and underestimated my opponents. That's my own fault and not the fault of my armor.
[ He leaves that point alone for now. ]
Hm...I will go visit him tomorrow, though. Give him time to rest.
[ Not himself, though -- he still runs himself into the ground on a regular basis. Maybe he'll learn his limits some day. ]
