Who: Alex and you (With a closed to Wei Wuxian)
When: Mid to end of July
Where: Wilde, somewhere with water the world is your oyster
What: Quests and Full Moon changes
Warnings: Tentacles. Maybe some other warnings later on.
I. Wilde Quest: Ingredients
[ The idea of a weird mix and match monster with the features of predatory animals was indeed terrifying, but hearing that their nests were way up there while the feathers would be way down below helped convince Alex to give it a shot. Gathering feathers sounded like an easy and quick enough task. No water was involved either, so she would have legs to run with if needed.
But things don't always go so smoothly, like yet another change towards her more monstrous form. She actually thought she was done. How much more fish could she become after gaining gills, fins, and a tail?
As she started picking up the fallen feathers, her eyes began to lose focus. It had been happening for some time now throughout the month, moments of blurred vision. She chalked it up to fatigue from the jobs she’s been undertaking, especially since she’d regain her regular eyesight right after. This time was different though. It was taking much longer for her to focus, and she was beginning to feel disoriented. She stumbles, but reaches out and manages to steady herself against a rock.
Except this rock felt oddly soft, and seemed to rise and fall steadily.
She turns to squint at it. Then knocks her knuckles against it. It starts to move ]
II. Full moon
[ Alex finds herself once again in the nearest body of water she could find. She was able to resist on any other day of the month, but when the full moons formed, she found it harder and harder to stay away with each passing month. There was just such a calm that came with being in it, like there was nothing for her to fight against while she floated along the surface of the water. She’d gotten rid of her skirt, but her blouse remained, although completely soaked through now. Her eyes, poor as they had become this past month, were sharper in water. She didn’t need her glasses there. To think even her eye sight could be affected in that way. Maybe it was just safer for her to be in this form, to stay off land. Even the cold didn't seem to bother her.
What was it she was able to do now? Breathe under water, hear and see better than she ever had before…Others had mentioned an ability. One that allows merrow to lure people to them. Was it really more than a story? Could she so easily lead someone into the water with no resistance whatsoever? Would they snap out of it once they were submerged and could no longer breathe? Could she make them do whatever she wanted? That could seriously hurt them, couldn’t it? That’s not something Alex ever wanted to do. It’s why she’s been trying so hard to control what she could with her changes.
And yet she began to hum as brought herself back to shore, waist deep in water still as she sat facing the water. The gold scales along her spine and the center of her tail seemed to glow brighter in the dark, like coins that had spilled out of a treasure chest. Her humming escalates too singing. No actual words, just a slow, soothing vocalization of a melody she head learned long ago.
Would anyone come? Would it work? How far would she let it go? Never had she felt so curious about such a thing before.
She hears a sound behind her, but she isn’t alarmed. She turns slightly to look at you, the blue of her eyes standing out even more against her now blackened sclera. Are you her guinea pig for tonight? What will you do now?]
III. The Cold War
[ It was some harmless fun with some kids at first. Building some snow men, then getting into a snow ball fight. She had time before work and they way they insisted with their cute little pouts...she was weak. But she had underestimated them as well, not thinking they'd actually use magic to their advantage. There was no hiding she was a merrow what with her fin-like ears, and some of the kids were aware of what worked on them. The snowballs themselves didn't hurt, but the next onslaught was different. They were mushier, and she could feel them melt into her clothes. She looked up to find the kids heating them up slightly before chucking them at her, and she soon realized why.
Down she went as her legs bound together and morphed into her tail, and there she was, a sitting duck for their next attack. She scrambled behind whatever she can find for cover, still attempting to keep them at bay by throwing some snowballs back. ]
Ruthless little..!
[ Would you like to help an outnumbered fish out, or maybe you get hit by a mushy snow ball as well. Or maybe it's Alex that hits you with instead. It's a little hard to aim and hide at the same time. ]
IV. Wildcard
[ I'm open to other scenarios too! I'm down for other things in the snow or what have you. Either toss up a top-level and I'll wing it with you, or hit me up at

Good. Sometimes a vulgar display of power was necessary to stop future annoyances.
A shiver runs trough his body when she touches his ear -- letting anyone this close is so strange, he's unused to this kind of thing. ]
... I was in a fight. [ That's the easy answer. ] A bite for a bite. He was protecting the one I bit.
[ He's really lucky he still has an ear, really. ]
It doesn't hurt anymore. Even if it did, I earned the pain given to me.
no subject
That sounds fair of you.
[ What she knew of him so far was that he wasn't opposed to violence, but he still followed some kind of code. She wasn't sure if she would call it honorable, though he didn't seem to be as underhanded as the men back where she was from.
She gives the bitten ear another soft rub with her thumb before tucking some of his hair behind it, her other hand moving up to brush against the markings under his eyes. She is careful not to scratch him with her nails. He was still towering over her at the depth they were in, so her arms had to reach a little. ]
What are these ones called?
no subject
[ Honorable is not a word he'd use to describe himself. The only reason he let go of Caster is because he didn't want to lose his ear over it (it would've upset Diarmuid to see that). If there hadn't been a witness, things would've turned out differently.
His reaction to touch is partially because he denied himself for so long -- this is a weakness to indulge in it. He flinches just slightly as she brushes the tattoos on his face, and yet he lowers his head to make it a little easier for her to reach. ]
They're also knotwork, just with harder edges.
no subject
And yet, she still wanted to see what more she could do. How much more could she push? ]
Mm, still a little hard to see.
[ Or pull, in this case, as her hands reach up and take hold of his horns. It depends on him now, whether he'll allow her to pull him down even closer, or if he stays sturdy like a tree, instead allowing her to pull up till she was face to face with him. ]
no subject
He refuses to lower his head and, instead, looks offended and straightens up. Have fun doing a pull up to get a better view! A low warning growl rumbles in his throat. ]
What are you doing?
no subject
Getting a better view. Now I can see you.
[ She smiles, that hint of mischief she normally wouldn't have. The growl didn't deter her either, if anything, it was nice seeing more of a reaction out of him. But now she's studying him again, the remaining flecks of white in her eyes turning black. ]
So the horns are a no? Ah, do they hurt?
[ She tilts her head as she tries to read his expression, but she is genuinely asking. ]
no subject
No, they don't. [ Not anymore. ] But they're not handles.
[ That's mostly why it bothered him -- the loss of control. Not that he couldn't do more than growl about it, but he's choosing not to right now. ]
no subject
You're right.
[ She releases his horns one at a time, lowering down to his shoulders for support instead. As she does so, she presses a soft kiss to his cheek, looking back at him once again but from a slightly lower angle now. ]
I'm sorry. I won't use your horns like that anymore.
[ Her tone sounded as sincere as it could be in her present state, but a more-in-control-Alex wouldn't blame him for doubting it. She brushes some long locks of hair to the back of his wings, watching them slide over slowly with the weight of the water on them. It could have just been an excuse to play with his hair some more. ]
Why are you being so patient with me?
[ Another honest question. She normally wouldn't have gotten away with majority of the behavior she's displayed so far. ]
no subject
It's easier than trying to fight you or get you to stop. [ And smarter -- this was her domain, after all. ] So until you do something that really bothers me, letting you do as you wish is easier.
[ And... ]
... I'm also curious to see how far you'll go. And how you'll react when you're in your right mind.

The flinch not too long ago didn't go unnoticed, nor how wound up his body got the softer the touch. He wasn't afraid of getting hurt, but he recoils at gentler gestures. It wasn't difficult, then, to figure out which gained more of a reaction.
A hand sliding up behind his neck, the other lightly tracing his jawline. She leans in to slowly close the gap between them, silently musing over how strange it was to use what she was trained in to find what the other person didn't want. And with that thought, she pauses a hairsbreadth away from his lips, his words repeating in her head and pulling her back from the depths of that full moon fog.
It's easier than trying to fight you or get you to stop.
A beat.
Letting you do as you wish is easier.
Her brow furrows.
It hit a little too close to home for her liking, but a part of her didn't want to let on just how much that bothered her.
Instead, her tail wraps behind his legs and sweeps forward. ]

If you want to try to kill me, you'll have to do better...
no subject
If she wanted to kill him, she would have just gone for his neck.
Her brow furrows, bothered by the fact that that thought even crossed her mind. But that wasn't why she did what she did. ]
You should have done that from the beginning.
[ He shouldn't have let her go that far, although at the same time, she couldn't blame him. She was the one doing wrong. ]
Even if it's easier, if you don't like it, you shouldn't be made to do anything you don't want to.

[ Berserker moves now to get out of the water. He's seen enough here and his wounds from his encounter with Arthur are, at least, not bloody now. Though...Arthur's words still stick with him from their first meeting. What he wants should matter...Neither of them understand. That's what he tells himself. ]
Seek easier prey next time.
no subject
Keep that up, and you will be easier prey.
[ Getting killed wasn’t the worst thing that could happen.
That way of thinking is part of what kept her under Barry’s thumb for so long. Although, can she really say the alternative worked? Because no matter how many times she said no or how hard she fought back, in the end she didn’t succeed, did she? But maybe that’s what bothered her so much about how he just let things happen. Maybe it wasn’t just him she was mad at. ]
There’s more than just your life lose.

[ Everything else had been taken from him by the Grail or the life he lived. The emotions he'd sealed off in the name of strength were slowly returning, but it didn't matter. His own wants and needs didn't matter -- he's a tool to be used and nothing else. Even to his Bonded, that's all he sees himself as. It's a depressing way to exist, but it's the only way he's ever known to exist. ]
Don't project your feelings onto me.
[ A shot in the dark, yes, though one he feels will hit a target somewhere. ]
no subject
Maybe so, but I don't think they're just my feelings.
[ The merrow doesn't try to stop him, the time for games having long passed with a heavier mood settling between them now. Although she wasn't apologizing profusely like she normally would have, the guilt was like a weight on her chest, her cold stare melting slightly with a hint of regret as she watched him a little longer. But as she is now, she didn't have it in her to call out, turning away instead to dive into deeper waters to prevent anything worse from happening. ]
