The cold shoulder is now much more intimate when when can feel it in their chest. But it's Jaskier's vast experience with people -- and his Bonded -- that lets him know exactly what not to do in this situation. Which, to be fair, he often ignores and does anyway... but not in this moment. He didn't come with her to be an annoyance. Simply a distraction.]
You know, I bought some rather prime fish the other day for Burza. Since she doesn't technically know about it, I think it's fine to use it for a nice stew before she finds out. I know a recipe from Toussaint. What do you say to a pot?

The mention of fish earns an arched eyebrow, not having planned for something quite so... in depth. Paired with the sudden realization of sharing a meal with Geralt after that nightmare wasn't at the forefront of her mind when she'd mentioned putting something together for Ciri. ]
That's certainly above and beyond what I had in mind, but if you're willing I don't see why not. I'm sure she'll enjoy coming back to a hot meal. I'll prepare her room while you cook then, before I take my leave.

It was the least he could do, to help spread salve over whatever this was between them. It was quite clearly about Ciri, but he couldn't exactly pick out why.]
I'd be happy to. [Why not? Isn't this a celebration? He bit his tongue. It didn't entirely feel like one.] Wait, your leave? Where are you going? [He shifts the basket as Burza begins making herself known again, until she quiets.] I thought you would stay, to... to meet with her.
thanks dw for not sending this notif
She's not surprised that Jaskier was willing to shift his plans so quickly and repurpose items to help elevate someone else and make them feel welcome. It was in his nature. Brushing off an invisible bit of dust, she clears her throat before responding -- choosing her words carefully and swallowing down the slight bristle before it can reach her tone. ]
You truly have to ask? Geralt should stay in the house and have time with Ciri whilst she settles in rather than disappearing into the forest in an effort to avoid me.
[ The significance Yennefer might have had in Ciri's life is still something she hasn't quite wrapped her head around, but she knew exactly how seeing Geralt again so soon after their argument would be uncomfortable at best. ]
There will be time later should she wish to see me. I'll likely stay at my old cottage. [ At least for a few days. While she couldn't avoid Geralt for the rest of time, a bit of distance to recollect herself and organize her thoughts was necessary. She had the opportunity here, there was no need to force a conversation or another confrontation. ]
dammit dw
[One, or both of them, disappearing after some sleight or argument. To their credit, it's been a bit since it's happened between them, at least on this level. Things had felt very level, actually. (Not that he was there to witness their interactions after his kidnapping. Which was for the best.)
Jaskier's silence lingers as he considers his options. Considering the past, he doesn't think convincing her otherwise is in anyone's best interest.] I hope you have no objections if I show her the way, then. Or visit myself?
[Yes, ages ago, the very idea a he would go out of his way to visit Yennefer would have been an impossible idea. Now he is so used to having them both around, that the loss of one almost feels like the loss of both.] I'll bring you some sandwiches.
[It's a bandage on top of a festering wound, but an attempt.]
