Speaking from experience, I take it?

[ Geralt certainly looks the sort, after all. And after fighting with him back then, Brennan's more than impressed by the man's skill with a blade. ]

But you're not wrong. The days after are always the worst. Especially because you can never quite pick back up right where you left off, even though it feels like you should. Hells, the first few days after, it was exhausting just to get dressed.

Mm. [ He might heal quick, but that tends to get offset when the things he fights can chew right through bone.

He can tell Brennan is of the similar sort, too. It surprises him, a bit, how easy he finds the man's presence. More familiarity than he expected—or perhaps it's just something he needs at the moment. Simple company makes for simple distractions. ]

Sword feels too heavy. [ Yeah. He gets it. ] At least you've time to recover here.

[ No one kicking you out for not paying up. There are some upsides to the relative safety of this city, and though he has his own reservations about it—he can't deny it's helped in places. ]
