Damn. Here that, you ornery bastard? You're stuck with me for a while longer.

[The cat huffs, then thrashes his way out of Hector's arm and lumbers off to his favorite perch on a chair that is theoretically for visitors.]

What's your friend like, then?
petcromancer: (sideways glance)

A younger cat, then. That'll keep him busier than an adult would.

[Adult cats, like Old Ornery, were more self-sufficient, whereas kittens were more inclined to welcome more frequent affection.

He pauses. A kitten would also require more care. Hector could trust Old Ornery to this man, because that cat would outlive God out of sheer spite.]

How responsible is your friend? Does he have a stable home and resources enough to provide for an animal? I have a cat in mind, but I won't send her to just anyone.

Hmm. Horses are high-maintenance beasts.

[Hector supposes there's no harm in showing the kitten to this man. With a silent look of 'stay here', he slips away again, and comes back with a little ball of fluff.]

This one -mew- loves to sing. He'll -mew- be lucky to -mew- get a word in edgewise.

[The cat give a few more meows to voice all of her thoughts on the subject.]

[Hector raises an eyebrow at the other man. The observation doesn't make sense to him.]

I'm fond of all of the animals here.

[They should be rewarded for not being people. He holds out the kitten for Geralt to inspect.]

Do you think being constantly interrupted would annoy your friend, or would he enjoy a conversation partner?

He's not for you. Your friend is the one I need to approve.

[Hector doesn't have a formal interview process. He'll just fine out where this friend lives, then come and chat with the cat in a day or so to get an update from her. Just faun things. Totally not menacing at all.]

You'll need to get supplies for her, unless your friend already has them. A box, food. Those sorts of things.

[And Hector may judge this man based on his choices.]
