... And it does smell - and taste - quite good. [So fine, there it goes.]

Especially not when we have to be alert. [ Souji doesn't wholly trust the Coven, though he's sure they mean well - but he doesn't know about the rest of the city, or what's outside the Wall. ] I suppose we got lucky that there was a festival with a lot of food, and that lets us sort of take in the people here.
[ But cheers! He'll eat to that. ]

Either way, she waits until she's eaten a bite to respond. Ah, and that really does hit the spot.]
Yes. Dangers lurk around every corner where I am from. Here, they call those dangers "Monsters" and allow them to walk in plain sight. But... as long as I don't see aggression, this is not my home and so... [A sigh, as she looks down at the parts of her food uneaten.] I reserve my blade until I see a reason to use it. I can't think of a good reason to be considered an ungracious guest yet.
[Another bite, a bit of chewing. She feels better in some ways, at least.]
And yes, this is helpful. It lets me see how these Monsters behave, and the people around them. It seems the humans don't fully trust them, either, but the feelings are reciprocated. I haven't seen much... but the two groups do seem to avoid each other.

Especially with what she says. His eyebrows raise slightly as he brings up a forkful of the pancake-like dish, hand lowering, his mind taking in and processing those words with some consideration. ]
I think there are reservations on all sides - those of the humans, the Monsters, and the new arrivals like us. [ He takes his bite, chewing it and mulling over his words before he speaks again. ] A lot of this, I can say for sure that I'm not used to. The kind of dangers that I faced, most people never knew, never saw. I want to believe that the dangers aren't going to be the Monsters who seem to just be trying to live their lives, but then, you never know what someone will be willing to do to survive.
[ Humans, Monsters... both sides fall under that, he thinks. ]
But they're still celebrating. Maybe not together, not completely, but they've got some hope there that lets them celebrate.

... She has a pretty low opinion of humans in general. She is one and she doesn't like them, but she doesn't like these Monsters more.]
Still, I hope you are correct in that. Time will tell, eventually. They cannot hide secrets forever from the observant.
