I can't say I relate. Magic wasn't really something that existed where I come from. That is not to say that curiosities did not, but most of those were the hand of the Great Ones.

[Ah, to be a Great One.

... That couldn't even be a goal anymore for her, could it. It had gotten her and the Church both in so much trouble.
]

I believe it is because there are Monsters there. I could see why they would be hostile to myself; I am not particularly fond of such things either. But... you're right. I don't think the Monsters and the people here get along as well as our gracious hosts do. [She means Mhairi and Nerissa, of course.]

[OOC: I just wanted to say thanks for the patience with my slow tags. I ended up traveling for work majority of May so I've only recently gotten home and caught. Don't feel pressured to reply if this is too old! Thank you.]

Ah, well, majority of the population back home didn't know it existed. We kept magic hidden to avoid persecution. It never really bothered me, but being more free about it here is certainly nice.

[Newt looks back at the bonfire with people jumping through the flames.] Yes. Well, it's normal for people not to get along with others based on appearances. It's likely that the natives here won't be so fond of us. There's quite a few of us, it feels. [And he can't imagine there being precautions with trying to suddenly house a sudden influx of people arriving.]

np!

Well, it can be, yes. I know a bit about having to act in the shadows... mostly to prevent mass hysteria.

[The early hunters worked mostly under cover of night, after all, and it wasn't until the end, there, that they were becoming more and more well-known to the general populace of Yharnam, what with Ludwig heading up his church hunters. Maria was long since retired then, though...]

More, if they already don't have enough places for jobs or housing. As I understand it, there is only so much space in this place - that wall sees to it, though I suppose one could live outside its borders.

For us, it was to avoid panic and persecution.

[The Statute of Secrecy had already been in place so he never had to experience the persecution that lead to it. He has certainly seen the cruelty of those with magic being treated poorly though.]

I wonder how easy it is to travel out of the city and how close the next city is from here. [There's certainly a lot of things he's wondering now that they're here. How exactly were they going to be acclimated to their new setting with such a sudden arrival?] There's certainly a lot we don't know about here, but I suppose we'll have to be quick to change that.

I suppose there is an element of that, as well. In the early hunt, no one wanted to admit their once loved one was too far gone a Beast to be able to see reason anymore.

[So technically some people would see it as. You know. Murder. Technicalities.]

Yes. It's why I've been trying to learn as much as possible in the short time I've been here... but it's not been very easy so far. [Resurrection sickness makes it very hard for her to concentrate.]

With the festivities around, all i feel like I've managed to hear about is things about the festivities. That, and I suppose our sudden appearance has caught them off guard as much as we've been caught off guard. [He doesn't really blame the natives to be a tad apprehensive about the sudden influx of people.]

I've not heard much passed the basics, I guess. We came at a busy time for them, it seems.

Yes. By their reaction, they're just as surprised as we are that we're here. I can't blame them for wanting to be a bit more cautious.

[A pause, and she also... shakes her head.] Nor have I, though what I have learned has been a bit... troubling.

Troubling? In what way?

[He isn't surprised by any means, but things have been overall mundane at best. The only real excitement and talk he has heard has been festival related.]

No one seems to know how we go back, for instance. Tensions are not very good between humans and Monsters... there's a long list, but it's wise to stay cautious.

Oh, well the fact that they seemingly don't really understand our arrival made it easy to assume the difficulties of returning us. Unfortunate, but I suppose I'm not incredibly surprised by the turn of the events.

[While he wonders about a multitude of things with returning home and the passing of time; he also wasn't outwardly going to stress about it either.

He also doesn't find the tensions between people and monsters to be surprising, given how people treat beasts from home and the overall viewpoints of witches and wizards towards non magic folks.
] It's not so dissimilar to home.

No, there are a lot of similarities to my home, as well. [Except the aforementioned part where she is here to kill Beasts, not to make friends with them. Except now she has to adjust to that alien feeling of trusting things she can only think are out to kill and eat the populace.]

But I can't imagine it's going to be easy for many people to adjust to life here. Especially as many of us don't belong.
