[Holy shit it is like his animes. He won't say that part. But he definitely just thought that Keith is like a power ranger and this is the best thing to happen to him all day. Admittedly, a very low bar, but still.]

You know, that sounds kind of cool. [In a nerdy way but Akechi likes ray guns and lightsabers so you know what.] I would have bought capsule toys of the lions, I'm sure. [Specifically of whoever is red.] Well, fighting aliens is more serious than that, of course.

[ A Power ranger probably isn't all that far off honestly. He's just got a lion instead of a dinosaur, or whatever else those crazy kids are using these days. Ninjas, maybe. ]

It's pretty insane, admittedly- but yeah. It's also pretty cool. [ He smiled, unable to help but being just a little bit proud of his part in team Voltron. Whoever red is Akechi? Well you're looking at him! The red on his armor spoke to that. ]

...I've seen action figures of us before. It's a little embarrassing sometimes, but- I mean if it inspires people, gives them hope? Then I guess I can live with having toys with my likeness.

[Hey Keith said Blue! Well he didn't say he pilots Blue but Akechi can't be blamed for thinking they aren't completely colour-coded. Maybe they aren't power rangers.]

Ah, really? I have to admit I'm envious. I didn't have anything like that. [A pause.] Well, I did have quite a lot of fans but I think that was mostly because I was their age and pretty, not so much because I was solving crimes.

[ Blue just kidnapped them, okay. He didn't pilot her. ]

To be fair I've never heard of any other detectives having fans. That's pretty... niche. I mean aside from Sherlock Holmes I guess, so you must have done something pretty impressive to have that kind of wide appeal.

Sherlock Holmes is one of the few, yes. Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, both from Agatha Christie books, are also popular. Most popular fictional detectives are Western detectives, though some Eastern ones have gained popularity worldwide in recent years. Kogoro Akechi and Manabu Yukawa are two popular characters off the top of my head. I don't think anyone is as famous as Sherlock Holmes, though.

[Obviously Keith wanted to know about this right.]

That said, I don't really think I did anything special. I solved a few difficult cases but I'm not sure that's really my main appeal when most of my fans were teenage women.

That's just my point, though. How many non-fictional detectives get fans, or even fan clubs? I can't name even one. [ Keith gave the other a sort of flat, unimpressed, though somewhat amused look. He was trying to give the guy a compliment! ]

Fans are still fans. And you shouldn't sell your work so short. It's a disservice to you, and to others who do the same work.
