[ Rohan's arms cross, his head tilted upwards to better look down at Giorno as he speaks. There's a lot of factors that go into why the hell he's out here, among all these people getting on his nerves and forcing him to interact with strangers, essentially people he could care less about.

And even though it'd be simple to just open his mouth and genuinely answer this stranger's question, Rohan doesn't. At least, not yet. ]

Why, you ask? [ A scoff. ] I could ask the same of you. I don't think I've seen you do anything that resembles participation in the slightest since coming here.

[ That last part's a bit of a stretch, all considering he's only had passing glances of Giorno. BUT STILL... He's speaking with a haughty air someone who just got kidnapped probably shouldn't have. ]

[They're feeling equally haughty, it seems, and Giorno's instinct to be petty heightens when Rohan doesn't just answer his damn question. He doesn't like the way he's being looked at, either, although that's a little easier to bear simply because he has experience being looked at funny. Still a bold choice coming from someone with a spiky headband!!]

[That's his slightly unclear explanation of what he's been doing instead of participating — because Rohan's right, he hasn't been doing much of that at all. He's trying to get a feel for how things work here before he puts himself forward into what could very well be danger, which means people-watching. Trying to figure out what is a big enough social faux pas that it might get him punched or thrown in jail.]

It's rather simple, actually. It's because I didn't want to. [ But mainly because he just wanted to know what the hell the other was doing first before answering, it's only fair, right? And now that he knows, as plain of an answer that is, he indulges in Giorno's curiosity. Rohan puts a hand to his hip, the other gesturing vaguely towards the crowd. ]

Although I doubt it's for similar reasons, I am also people watching. My work will not stop just because my publisher can't reach me. When I return I must be prepared, [ He's hoping he'll only have to do a manuscript or two, because as good a material these people are he'd much rather be in Morioh figuring out all that nonsense instead of the nonsense here. ] regardless of the situation I find myself in. Does that answer your question?

[Well, now he's not sure whether he feels more petty or amused by this situation. They're basically doing the same thing, aren't they? Even if he isn't doing it for creative inspiration so much as to ensure his own safety . . . they're both essentially just being nosy. He could put the patronizing tone in this man's speech to the side and consider him an obnoxious kindred spirit.]
