In a way. I was taken in by the Belmonts - Richter and his wife Annette. My family is distantly related to them and they're hunters. Vampire hunters but honestly we hunt pretty much any sort of night creature.

[Richter and she don't really have many abilities in common though so training is limited there.]

[Vampires... those are the sorts of creatures that Blake has only ever read about in books, but even after only a few short hours, it's clear that they're very real in this world as well as Maria's. No doubt she's about to see all sorts of creatures she's only ever seen in stories come to life.]

The vampires you've seen— are they feral monsters, or... more like people?

[She's just finding herself full of questions now that they've discovered this common thread between them, so much so that she's almost forgotten about the reason they both came here. She pauses to correct herself, shaking her head.]

I'm sorry, I'm asking too many questions. You came here to enjoy the baths, didn't you?

[At that Maria seems to recall where she's at too. And she laughs, waving a hand.]

I did but that doesn't matter. This conversation is much more interesting.

[That said:]

I would like to get cleaned up though. I was pretty busy before I found myself here. Were you going to go into the baths too? We could talk more if that's the case.

I don't see why not.

[It's an efficient way of handling things, although Blake gives another glance at the signs that denote which bath is which. Though she may be a brand-new arrival and thus not quite categorized as witch or monster yet, she knows what her ears have a few bystanders thinking already.]

We'll have to wait and see if anyone takes issue with my going to the human side.

[Let them. She'll have plenty of words for them, if that's the case.]

[At that Maria frowns a bit. She supposes it would be a problem given Blake's ears but at the same time... well, she can't see the sense in it. If Witches and Monsters had to live together, what good came in separating them?]

Maybe we could badger them into a private bath.

[Blake shakes her head— she's hidden her ears in the past, but she refuses to do so now, because she feels like she shouldn't have to. In the grand scheme of things, they're nothing compared to what some of the local 'monsters' are sporting, but she's gotten a pretty cold reception from a number of natives all the same.]

We don't have to do that— we have the same right to enjoy the baths as anyone else, don't we? We were told to make ourselves at home.

[If someone comments, she'll have no problem standing up to them. Her expression softens slightly, and she offers Maria an appreciative smile.]

I'm not afraid of what anyone might say, and we have a lot to talk about.

[At that Maria gives her a gentle smile. She doesn't care a wit about ears or what not, only in comfort. And she certainly wouldn't begrudge the other woman if she wasn't comfortable dipping toes into the other baths.

So she reaches out and in a move Blake might or might not see as overly friendly, she links arms with the other woman.]

They can say whatever they like, I'm very used to hearing talk. As long as you're comfortable I don't care.

[To be perfectly honest, Blake isn't quite sure what to make of it at first— it's surprising, but not unwelcome, and her face colors a little as she nods. Making friends has never come easily to her, but Maria makes it seem like it might be easier here than Blake wants to imagine it could be.]

I like the way you think.

[Her smile warms, her cheeks still slightly rosy as they begin to move towards the baths once more. They're going to get along just fine.]

Shall we?

Mm!

[To be fair, making friends is quite easy when you pretty much accept whatever comes your way. Or you're an optimist.

At least they'll be clean while they challenge the baths!]
