[ Especially since the niffler's pocket isn't quite so bottomless anymore... having a fountain pen sticking out of it will certainly be a shock for everyone. ]

At the very least, he's particularly friendly towards you. And I'm sure he isn't the strangest thing this place has seen. [ Souji, always willing to try and befriend an animal, extends his hand out just a touch, fingers curled inwards loosely to show the back of his hand and his knuckles. Just allowing the zouwu to become familiar with him in this small space, as much as he'd love to pet such a giant cat. He's not about to broach its comfort. ]

Are his injuries healing well? [ Soft concern and disapproval alike are obvious in his voice. ] I can't imagine someone caging something like him, but then again, people have been putting wild animals into cages since we knew how to build them - it's just a matter of getting a strong enough cage.

[Honestly, the most shocked will probably be the niffler himself. He probably won't know what to do about the limitations and still try to stuff himself with whatever his grubby hands can get ahold of.

At least Newt doesn't have to worry too much about the little guy trying to nab everything.
] Most creatures tend to be on the friendlier side towards me, so I can't say this isn't the norm for me either. [He just has a natural affinity to beasts. Newt pats Greg's cheek affectionately. The large cat is staring at the other carefully and hisses a bit when they extend their hand out.] He'll warm up with more socializing. He was a bit panicked when we arrived, so I think he's having trouble acclimating.

They weren't too bad. Just areas were raw from where the chains may had been cutting into him based on the observation I made of them.

A strong enough cage and magic makes for trapping even the strongest beast easy pickings sometimes. Of course, there's a few creatures that would be difficult to incapacitate without numbers, but zouwus aren't really known for being dangerous or resistant to magic.

[ At least Souji is pretty amicable, but he's not going to be particularly willing to part with any of the shiny things he came into Aefenglom with...

He calmly lowers his hand with the hiss, not interested in pressing the large creature's comforts. As someone so patient, he can earn the at least tolerance of "Greg," and would prefer to let him know that he's no harm.
] I can't exactly say that I've encountered many creatures in this way, but I can get it, on a smaller level. I'd befriended all the strays in the town I was staying in, as well as a fox that was protecting a shrine.

[ Ah, he sort of misses the fox now... but he nods. ]

I take it then that a zouwu isn't the first magical creature that you've taken care of? Definitely not the first you've helped to free. [ It's said with a smile, as Souji looks from creature to man. ]

He would be my most recent addition if anything. I can't say I cared for a Zouwu at anytime until now. [He gently taps Greg's nose when he hisses. Greg stops immediately but whines a little. Newt sighs a little and scratches the other's neck affectionately.]

I traveled and spent a bit of time observing them. I- Well, I should have all my notes. Well, maybe not all, but I have my journal on me. I was researching creatures for a book and I traveled with a plethora of them. It's always been something I did growing up. Taking care of creatures that is.
