Waver actually laughs at that, shaking his head. Soren must be feeling better if he has the energy to be flustered like this.

Sitting back against the couch cushions, Waver complies with the petulant order, lifting the cup to his lips to inhale the steam even if it's still too hot to drink.

"Oh, all right. I'll be quiet and let you fend for yourself."

Soren is quite content to bask in Waver's silence for a while. He also partakes in his own silence, lets the time elapsed between the last Waver spoke carve distance from his own surprise and embarrassment at being caught daydreaming. For a minute, he reins back his composure. Sips his tea. Watches the fire. Before he knows it, his thoughts have slipped right back into those fond and recent memories of his. Over the span of that minute, Soren's expression relaxes. In his renewed self-awareness, he manages this time to avoid being so swept up in the blissful stream of his thoughts that his lips move, but there's no denying the softness in the gaze he steeps in his tea. He looks forward to Ranulf coming home to him. To Waver, who has grown a little more used to the finer nuances of the Dragon's faces by way of working with him than afforded to those who don't spend time with him, it is tough to deny the uncommon peace, the marked contentedness that lighten his features.
