My girl wants to party all the time [closed]

[Kyrie can't remember the last time she got to dress up for a formal event; it's been many years since, and there's a distinct lack of formal Order dress uniforms and familiar faces this time round. Life here is still new enough to her that everything's a novelty; she's never lived outside Fortuna before and this is certainly nothing like Fortuna. She's certainly never been to a masked ball before.

Even a few weeks into her new circumstances there are times where she still can't quite believe that it isn't all a strange dream, that witches and monsters co-exist, that she's a witch herself, that Nico and Nero have been there for months already without her but it's only been a matter of weeks since she'd last seen them. It does, at least, give her hope that the boys will be alright, that they won't miss her or even notice that she's been gone.

That's if everything they've been told is to be believed.

Honestly, it's a lot.

The news of the masquerade and the accompanying excitement had been enough to take her mind off things, and managing to convince those closest to her to make a night out of it had been easily accomplished, though some parties had been easier to persuade than others. Getting ready had been fun, she and Nico had monopolised the bathroom for hours in preparation to Nero's exasperation until they were both primped and polished into their dresses and ready to leave.

She's dressed in a delicate yellow gown, her hair pulled back from her face and teased into gentle waves, and a gold and white half mask completes her outfit.]

Oh, look at how pretty it all looks!

[Kyrie should probably worry about how childish that observation is, but she's so enthralled by the lights and the beautiful fountain as they arrive that she can't help herself. She turns to the others, smiling brightly at them both, hoping to see similar enthusiasm on both their faces.

She's not really all that surprised that Nero... isn't looking too thrilled to be there, but that's just Nero and she's sure she'll find some way to make it up to him later. At least Nico looks just as pleased to be there as she is. It really is wonderful to have another girl to back her up.]

We're going to have a good time tonight. [It's not a threat, it's a promise as far as she's concerned.] I can't remember the last time we had the chance to go out together, so we're going to make up for lost time.

[Still beaming, she doubles back to position herself between them both and link her arms through theirs.]

[ This...is not his thing. By any stretch of the imagination, in any world or reality. In fact, Nero vehemently is against formal parties, mostly because the point behind them is a huge waste of money to try and impress people who will never be impressed, no matter how much effort you put into playing their games. It's all pomp and circumstance and Nero is short order on both. He had his fill with the Order the few times his presence as knight had been required, which was (blessedly) far and few between. He was okay with not being wanted. There, at least.

But...he really can't say no to Kyrie. And she knows it. Oh, does she know it.

That's why he's here with her and with Nico--to women he cares a stupid amount about, albeit in different ways. He agrees to be on his best behavior, but Nico can likely feel the budding annoyance and anxiety radiating off him. Even with feeling her own generally positive emotions towards getting all gussied up for a good time, he can't find himself to really indulge in those.

He's trying. That's really all that matters. Right?

Right.

So he let's Kyrie dress him up in whatever she figures is best and tries to ignore how it makes his scales itch. That doesn't stop him from scratching his lower back as he looks out towards the venue. ]

Yeah...someone put a lotta effort into this.

[ See? Look at that. Not even really negative, just an accurate description of their surroundings. He's got this in the bag.

Nero clears his throat, looking down at his admittedly absolutely breath-taking girlfriend. That is something he can allow himself to enjoy. ]

Right.

( Nero isn't wrong: someone did put a lot of effort into this, and Nico isn't the kind of person who lets someone's hard work go unappreciated. This works out pretty well for her in this instance, if only because she's pretty sure there's no better way to show her gratitude than by enjoying the party to the fullest. On Kyrie's other arm, she smiles broadly as they approach the warm glow of the entrance, already envisioning champagne waterfalls and those fussy little pastries she so enjoys. )

Of course!

( She shoots Nero a look — just playfully chiding. )

No hangin' around bein' a misery. You can do that as much as you want any other day of the week; tonight we've gotta have fun.

( Not that she imagines they won't, but you know? It's fun to tease Nero, even if they all now Nico wouldn't really force him into anything he truly despised. If he wants to stick to the corners with a face like thunder, he's more than welcome to. She turns her attention to Kyrie, looking up at her with a bright, impish smile: )

Speakin' of: you gonna join me in a couple drinking games?

[Nico's excitement is infectious and Kyrie's buzzing with it too; even though she knows she is utterly useless at drinking games and nowhere near devious enough to come up with anything remotely entertaining or scandalous at Never Have I Ever.]

Drinking games? You know I can't keep up with you two, you'd have no competition and I'll just end up in a heap.

[Although, unlike any usual misadventures into drinking, Kyrie's not going to need to wake up early in the morning to the boys needing breakfast while she tries to battle a hangover. That's a depressing thought.

No. They're out to have a good time today, she's not going to get caught up in her own head. They're going to dance and eat canapes and she's going to make sure Nero cracks a smile of his own volition at least once over the course of the evening; he looks much too handsome in formal wear for the effect to be ruined by sulking.]

But if you promise to go easy on me, I don't see why one or two wouldn't hurt.

[ For as much of a grumpy front he feels compelled to put on, just in case anyone made the terrible mistake of thinking that his is at all a thing of his, he doesn't actually want to go out of his way and give either of them a hard time. Or a bad time. They deserve to enjoy themselves, at least, even if he has to suffer the indignity of being social for it.

That doesn't mean Nico is free of the pointed frown and eye roll he sends her way. At least she can probably sense that there is no real ire behind it.

The notion of a drinking game is...well, not normally something he would turn down, exactly, but doing shots or downing beers with Nico in the van is a little different than letting loose with Kyrie in tow at some fancy ass party. Her reputation deserves to be better than that. ]

What, champagne pong? This looks like the kinda place that they offer you drinks on silver trays.

( It's well into the night by the time Nico finds Kyrie again — this time Nero-less, although that isn't too surprising on its own. He's always been a despicable grump when it comes to social gatherings, but even his grouchy attitude isn't enough to put a dampener on the mood. There's good food, good drinks, good music, and Kyrie looks cheerful as ever in her yellow dress, and when Nico approaches she has a sparkling wine in each hand and a broad smile on her lips. )

Now, you look like someone who needs company!

( Hardly — Kyrie is the type who could befriend pretty much anyone — but Nico just tosses her a wink before pressing one of the glasses into her friend's hand. She's loosened up from drinking, pink-cheeked with dancing, and only a little clumsy from the alcohol — and best of all? Her dress has managed to stay intact so far with not a single wardrobe malfunction.

It's all going wonderfully. )

C'mon, let's drink these and then go have a dance.

( What's the worst that could happen! )

[Kyrie has somehow managed to recover from the horrors of the suggestive green lamp auction and after another turn of the room (admittedly trying to find the rest of her party), she's relieved to see a familiar face.]

I'd love some, thank you- oh, and thank you for the drink!

[She takes the drink from Nico, smiling with similarly pink cheeks, and raises the glass in a toast to her friend.]

Are you having a nice time?

[She takes a sip of the sparkling wine and hums her approval. Yum. Good wine, good company, what's not to like?]

Pfft, don't thank me. I just don't wanna be that loser who's drinkin' all by herself.

( Nico grins mischievously, clinking her class against Kyrie's with a little laugh before taking a sip. While she's never found it hard to make friends, nor has she had any problems in Aefenglom with regard to getting settled in, she's incredibly grateful to have Kyrie here to remind her of home. Nero is great, and all, but Kyrie is just ...

Well. She's herself, which is all Nico could ask for. )

I'd say it's been a good night so far!

( Which it has been! Drinking, dancing, attractive men, gorgeous women ... very enjoyable indeed. )

Isn't a woman drinking by herself liberated and mysterious? Besides, you're never alone for long, you're always the life of the party.

[The wine is crisp and cool and the company is excellent, Kyrie can't find anything to fault about it. She's heartily relieved to have Nico there; even though she's the younger of the two, her prodigious friend is so much more worldly than Kyrie and it's a comfort to have her there when she's still feeling somewhat out of her depth.]

It definitely feels like we're very far from home here, but everyone I've met has been very kind so far. And this is such a wonderful party. I'm glad we all came out tonight.

[And then she leans in with a conspiratorial whisper:]

And you should know that there's someone over there who cannot take their eyes off you.
