Oh, she determined where his eyes landed, did she? It's tough to say whether she did or didn't, but she at least determined that they were a 'he'. He returns his sights to her and her alone.

"I would agree with that notion," says Soren after a short and thoughtful pause. "It insures you against sudden and potential losses." He focuses on his stumbling footwork for a moment in hopes of correcting it, trying to better match up to hers so that they are more in step, but his mind still trails after higher, more abstract concerns. He doesn't often go into much detail about his personal feelings or his inner life, but something about their moment, his lack of observable identity, compels him to go ahead.

"...Something about the masquerade, even this year... haunts me. I think what I mean by that is I am transported to the same place I was last year, when I had one Bond, was made to feel insecure about its dependability, and swiftly lost her to the mirrors the same night."
