( Yazoo is learning to expect the unexpected when it comes to his life in Aefenglom, but he's fairly certain that even a long-time resident would have been taken off guard by the "package" that arrived for him yesterday morning. In part, it's because he doesn't recall telling anyone where he lives, but the real surprise had been removing the lid to the neatly addressed basket and immediately finding himself with his arms full of—
Well. Some kind of kitten, or so it would seem, although the shimmer of starlight within the limits of its body leave him certain it's about as natural as he is (which is to say, not very). A good while is spent simply holding the thing beneath its front legs as it squirms and bats at him, clearly in the mood to play, and for a moment he's tempted to take it through to Sephiroth and find out whether he has any input in the matter — but he dismisses that idea relatively quickly, unwilling to risk inviting more reasons for him to be exasperated by his presence.
Yazoo smuggles the sphinx into his room with what he thinks is relative success, which gives him the space to properly consider what the thing might actually be. It's obvious that it's different from a regular animal — ornate, accessorised, and filled with a bright energy that brings to mind the Lifestream within his own cells — but there's something more than that, too; something that speaks to him on a level he's only really felt with his family. For whatever reason, Yazoo feels as though he needs to be around this small, silly thing to show it how to survive.
... And speaking of. It doesn't appear to have any eyes, or a mouth, but surely it needs to eat? He watches it closely for a moment before deciding to fetch it a bowl of water, but no sooner has the door opened and—
Ah. The sphinx darts out of the room, already making a beeline for playtime somewhere else in the house. Yazoo tenses for a moment before racing off after it, determined to catch the thing before it has the chance to run in to six feet and one inch of tight-lipped trouble. )

Highly suspicious, indeed.
Sephiroth can only watch as Yazoo swoops down and pick up the kitten, who wiggles and pushes gently at his cheek. What a strange sight to parse; what a difficult notion to reply to.]
Why?
[Well— difficult until the most obvious question surfaces.]
You’re going to accept it without question? In a place like this?
[A pair of questions that feel as though a sigh of disapproval might punctuate them cleanly, but instead Sephiroth reaches out with expectation, and stolidly—]
Let me see it.
