Justine gently shook his head, not listening to half of his comforting words. She heard him but she wasn't able to process it. It was all too much for her. "I am not the girl you know." Her voice was harsher, her nails digging a little more forcefully into his chest.
Then she felt herself break.
"I don't even know if I love Thomas." She's been with him for years but it'd started because she had to be. She belongs to him. Then she got to know him and she saw the man that he was beneath all that. She loved him but she didn't know in what way. All she knew for sure was that she was addicted to him. She needed him to breath and live.
Even when he hurt her and made her forget. He sheltered her from the world and kept her in a place at his side. Was that really love? Justine didn't know and it hurt even more to think about now.
