Justine felt her heart tighten in her chest. She could end things now and lie. He would know it was a lie but his heart would be safe from her, even if her heart was never safe from him. He had accepted her, taken care of her, believed in her and had gone along with every selfish request that she had asked him. Justine couldn't bring herself to ask for more.

Her eyes dropped and she hoped that he couldn't see the feelings that she'd been trying to hide from him.

"What about Thomas?"

She whispered the question, not giving voice to her own answer despite how obvious her emotions were. There are many things that Justine is able to hide well but how she's feeling has never been one of them.
