She sighs, looking up from her notes -- visibly frustrated. As far as she knew, she'd bought herself some time with a familiar, still looking into the most effective potions. ]
Non-viable options and theories that require a decision of likely success versus possible danger.

[Alucard's careful to place his bag on the table away from Yennefer's current set up, as to not disturb how she has things arranged. The dhampir slides his own notebook out of the bag, but leaves the rest within for the time being.]
Moreover, are they theories based in the native magic, or have you gotten creative?

[ She absolutely fears that the day may come where she doesn't have a choice. But until then? She'll do her best to continue hunting for an answer. ]
And creative. [ She grabs a few more pieces of paper, handing over one she'd scribbled a theory on about the chances of magical tethers from other worlds possibly weakening the longer it's away from its world of origin. ] I don't think I have the time to wait and see if this particular one is correct.

[Alucard's voice does it's best to sound encouraging, and he takes the offered paper carefully. He reads it, considering the theory.]
This one you requires no more effort than finding someone who has been here for over a year and asking about the matter. [He places the paper down, not quite offering it back.] I can offer only one name, but it should confirm or deny the idea.
[There is something else though, and it demands a delicate touch.]
The nature of the curse. How personal is it?

Yennefer doesn't ask for the name yet, though she's curious for more than one reason. Instead, she answers the question. ]
Extremely. At least, the details are. Geralt wasn't thrilled that I asked for suggestions from strangers and I don't blame him, but my hands are somewhat tied at this point. He's bonded with someone else from our world, so now if the wish goes awry, it's not just our lives on the line.

Forgive me for asking this, as I am sure you've already given it deep thought, but I have to do it all the same. Are the consequences and potential for being worse off than when you started worth it?

[ Mostly true. It was still a very touchy subject between them, Yennefer being allowed to make choices for herself something highly important. She'd lost since left being a weak and mewling child behind, but certain things often never sat well with her. Especially being forced into something she didn't want. Even if what she wanted from Geralt was far more complicated than she was willing to admit.
She sighs, leaning back slightly in her chair. ]
If it's taking steps towards a resolution of the wish, then yes. I would rather face failure whilst trying to make progress than give up now.

It seems to be a reoccurring theme between them though - always carefully avoiding anything especially important or personal.
Alucard nods once.]
And I trust you're confident with that choice. Where shall we pick up the work?

In my world, all magic comes with a cost. Draw too much power and it can have drastic consequences. From my understanding, such a concept doesn't seem too foreign to these lands.
[ She's hoping he's picking up on where's she going with this. It's not a good idea, but it's an idea. ]
If there was a way to perhaps mimic a magical overload before the risks to life and limb actually take hold, it might perhaps trigger something with the wish. [ Fractured and weakened magic already being vulnerable to burning out. It's a stretch. ]

[Mucking around with bonds feels like it may be required at this point. A careful means of disturbing balance, but the word wish feels like the crux where all of this hangs. The dhampir pauses, considering.]
Probably the easiest way would be to only have witch bonds, and to spellcast. However, that would require the other parties involved to consent to that potential overload, which may be asking too much.
[There's something Alucard pointedly isn't asking, and that is if there are any bonds in play at the moment. He's always found the question intrusive himself, and so it feels only fair to be respectful of that fact.]
