Who: Aera Mirus Fleuret and YOU!
When: Juril 4th (July 4th - today!)
Where: Various locations around the city. From shopping during the day to bar crawling with friends during the evening.
What: It's Aera's 29th birthday and she's like a happy little kid. Basically, an overly excited adult shopping and having all sorts of shenanigans.
Warnings: None at the moment, I'll edit if need be.

A: Party all day

[ Today is a good day. Today is, in fact, a great day. Since arriving, Aera's been trying her hardest to hide a lingering sadness that had honestly felt pretty overwhelming. But as the days go by, that pain and feeling of general upset has been dissipating, and at least for today, it seems to be mostly gone, something she's very grateful for. Why?

Because it is Aera Mirus Fleuret's twenty nineth birthday, that's why! A birthday that she wouldn't be able to be celebrating at home. Which is exactly the reason that she will take advantage of the day herself! To be fair, no one really knows it's her birthday, save for two people, but that will not stop her from going out on her own to celebrate ~~and probably inform E V E R Y O N E who stops to talk to her of what today is~~!

It's been a month, and she's hardly gone out to get new clothes. She's just been wearing the same dress she arrived in for the most part, but she's realized that she really needs to fix this. What better day to do a little splurging?

Aera can be found in various areas shopping; from dress shops to her favorite flower shops, she won't turn down anyone who wants to join her! If shopping isn't your thing, she can be found a bit later sitting in her favorite cafe, loads of bags full of clothing and flowers and supplies surrounding her, sipping on her new favorite cold beverage: iced coffee. The weather may be a little chilly, but the cold never bothered her anyway. ]

B: Party all night!

[ With shopping and coffee and general day celebrations out of the way, it's time to go out and have a little fun in the evening. Besides, it's a good time to break out one of her new outfits, right? Aera's never been much of a 'party' girl, so to speak; in her time that sort of thing was unacceptable for a lady, especially one with such a coveted title as her own. But this is not Eos and she is not an Oracle... and also, this was fun the last time she'd done this.

She feels a little strange, admittedly, but not in a bad way. This is all so different than things had been at home, and without duty or ties, she's free to just have fun and do what she pleases. It's an odd sensation.

It is with a fruity alcoholic beverage in her hand that she comes to plop down next to the first person she happens upon, a bright smile on her face. Whether or not you're here for her birthday or just on your own, she's going to chat you up... sorry not sorry. ]

Good evening! Are you having fun?

[ Basically, if you bumped into Aera or just know her in general, then obviously you have been invited to come bar hopping with her. Feel free to hit her up for a chat, a dance, or just to tell her to calm down in general. ]

[ Her entire wardrobe has been white since... before she can remember, okay. Dark colors have never been anything that her family has worn, actually... ]

I love shopping... granted, at home, there was no time for that and it would have been seen as rather sinful, I think. [ Which she totally gets. Oracles aren't meant to blow off money, they are meant to donate and be good girls, after all. She giggles at his statement, and lightly nudges him. ] That's true, it has always been your thing. But you always managed to color coordinate very well! Far better than I ever could, I think.

[He snorts, motioning up and down his clothes with the hand that isn’t holding her bag.]

I have to admit it is quite easy to color coordinate when your two favorite colors work well together. But I’ve always enjoyed looking good, it makes me feel better and more sure of myself. [Unlike!! A certain Jesus-looking hobo of a brother!!! Who had to spend literal millennia locked up to get a sense of fashion.]

You must feel elated to not be tied down by the expectations of what the Oracle should be wearing.

That is very true. That is why I enjoy white... anything goes with it, for the most part. And it is easy to wear... at least, for me. Of course, it is also extremely easy to dirty up... [ She heaves a sigh... ]

I do in a way. But I am glad for the chance to be somewhat normal again. What of yourself? Are you, too, enjoying the peace here?

[He knows what she wants him to say. He knows she wants him to enjoy the peace here, or become a better person with his fresh start or whatever way she likes to put it. So even though he’s a man of war, even though he was trained and he enjoys fighting alongside Gilgamesh and his soldiers more than he’d thought when he’d started as a young boy, even though peace is actually incredibly boring and annoying to him…

He doesn’t say any of that.]

I suppose. [He says instead, a bit of a compromise.] I have enjoyed meeting new people more than I thought I would, to be honest. People are… kind to me, and even though I am aware I have done nothing to deserve said kindness I’m not going to look at a gift horse in the mouth.

[ 'Even though I have done nothing to deserve said kindness'... that's almost hilarious. Because she knows that much is true, yes. But she'd imagine, unless Ardyn has opened his mouth about Somnus, no one else would have any idea of the things the young king has done.

These things, of course, these thoughts and amusement in general will be kept to herself. Because she does want the best for Somnus in the big scheme of things. ]

It is an adjustment, yes. But you are right to do that; besides, we still don't know a lot about what is going on here. And making as many allies as you can early on will be beneficial to you in the long run.

[Ardyn will probably always hold the information he has on Somnus like the sword of Damocles, never knowing when he will decide to use it against his younger brother and ruin any friendship or allies he may make here. But Somnus had decided early on that he was going to be as honest as he could be because there wasn't any point in lying, so if he does...

Well. He'll have to work with what he's got.]

And I have always sought whatever is most beneficial to me, after all. Aera, you happen to be what they call a Witch in this place, don't you?

[ Of course he will. Ardyn is a changed man now, even she can't tell what he's up to these days. She used to be able to read him like a book... now, not so much. Not that she's gone out of her way to seek him out, after all. The first step to healing a broken heart is to try and put everything behind her, and that's what she's sought to do.

Her head tips slightly. ]

You have, yes. I am a Witch, yes, though admittedly I am not... exactly the best witch. But I am learning... why do you ask?

[He shrugs, and makes a movement with his hand as if he were reaching for his blade. Not many people know that's a tell that what he's going to say next is probably not the entire truth, but Aera might.]

No reason, I am merely curious. I am trying to keep track of everyone I know, it is simply useful information to have.

[ It is a tell, yes, but it's one that makes her slightly nervous and that shows as her eyes quickly dart to his hand before her gaze moves back to his face. She doesn't exactly want to get stabbed again, thanks. ]

Liar. You were going to ask about bonds, weren't you?

[He makes a face, unaware of how she could tell he was lying. Or at least not telling her the whole truth- he does like to keep track of everyone he cares about, it's not his fault that list happens to be rather small.

As in, the fingers on one hand would be more than enough to count the people on said list.]

I just- [He hesitates, unsure on how to word it. Finally:] Not having a bond can get really ugly, I've been told. Painful, as well, in the worst of cases. And I know- ['how stupid you can be about my brother'] how, sometimes, you can be quite determined when you set your mind on something.

I beg of you, do not wait for my brother if he doesn't wish to create a bond yet. He's... changed. I am sure there would be plenty of nice people willing to bond with you, while you wait.

[ She nearly squeaks when he brings Ardyn up, and she looks away quickly, fidgeting slightly. ]

We have already discussed such a bond, and I have agreed. We plan on doing so tonight, as a matter of fact. I owe him that much...

[ She chews on her lower lip, keeping her gaze firmly away from Somnus. ]

...besides. It is almost like a wedding, yes? Except without the love and romance that comes with it. At least we will be close in a different way. Not that any of that matters anymore, of course.

[ Time to change the subject, though. She looks back at Somnus finally, still a little fidgety because she can't help it. Ardyn is a sensitive subject to her now, especially since he doesn't... want her anymore, and she's been brave about it this whole time and she's really still struggling with it. ]

...And what of you, Somnus? Have you created any bonds with anyone yet?

[He takes a moment to process that, because he really wasn't expecting that. Ardyn seemed so different whenever they've managed to have a conversation, no longer then naive innocent brother he'd had to lie to for his own good. But if he'd agreed to a bond with Aera then maybe there was a bit of his brother inside of that monster.

Doesn't mean Aera's reaction to this topic of conversation any less weird, though.]

I suppose it is a bit like a wedding. [He'd wonder why he hadn't been invited, then, but considering he killed one of them and imprisoned the other for millennia the surprise would be if he had actually been told about it.]

I am happy for you, Aera. I know how much this will mean to you. And I can't bond with anyone. That would require me actually caring about someone enough to sacrifice my own thoughts and feelings.

[ She can't help it. Ardyn is a sore subject, and as much as she's trying to push forward this bond isn't going to help things... but she owes it to him. It's her fault, after all, that things ended up the way they did.

So she can push through her hurt for him. Because she loves him. ]

I don't really know what to expect... [ She shifts a little bit again, before frowning. ]

You shouldn't be. He and I do not have the same feelings for one another anymore, and he needs me for his own good... and that's alright. This doesn't mean much to me.

[ That's what she's going to tell herself, at least. ]

I don't believe that. You are capable, you just refuse... but there may come a time where you need it, Somnus.

[Somnus glances at her, raising an eyebrow as he considers what she's saying. He'd call her out for lying but that'd make him quite the hypocrite, considering he just tried lying to her. He doesn't know Ardyn's true intentions, either, he doesn't know why he'd ask her to do this for him, but he's having a hard time believing they don't have feelings for one another anymore.

Ardyn spent Astrals know how long imprisoned, but Aera just died for his sake, just died to protect him even as he turned into a monster, and those feelings don't just fade away that easily.]

Please, protect yourself, Aera. Not just your body but your mind as well as your heart. Don't let Ardyn use your kindness like I once did.

And you know what I am capable of to get my way, the things I am willing to sacrifice when I think I'm right. Do you really wish to inflict that on anyone?

He isn't... he wouldn't. I don't really know what I'm doing, honestly.

[ She's hoping for something, maybe? She can't quite put her finger on it. She just knows that this is a way to be somewhat closer to Ardyn again, to have something shared between them that is just theirs, even if it's just grasping at straws. ]

I do know that. But should it come to it, should you honestly need to bond... then consider it done. I will do it for you, if it makes things easier for you.

[He snorts in amusement. And he... won't lie: it is incredibly tempting to bond with her simply to get a reaction out of Ardyn, to be able to call him and tell him he's got a better relationship with his once-beloved than he does now, and it's all Ardyn's fault.

But petty jealousy and trying to one-up Ardyn was how this entire mess started, back home. It's how he got Aera killed, how he managed to turn his brother into an actual monster that he couldn't even get rid of. And despite what some people think, he's trying (really trying) to be better.

Baby steps.]

I thank you, Aera. I didn't expect any less from you. But I will be alright, I assure you. I always manage to, after all.

It's cute that you worry about me, though.
