Ah, you could say I resisted it. I...didn't take one on for longer than I should have. [ It's a bit of an embarrassing admission. His own hangups with letting people in kept him from bonding for longer than he should have. ] Witches present a different sort of danger when they're unbonded. Magic builds up, even if you're using it daily, to the point it can make a you sick. It escalates from there and ends with the witch exploding from the buildup, which can be devastating for more than just the witch.

[ He laughs, though it's more of a nervous one than anything else. ]

I didn't want to risk harming anyone else. I ended up finding someone who I trusted to bond with. She resisted bonding for some time, too, but we came together naturally. It's beneficial for both of us...I wish I'd done it sooner, if only for her sake.
