We try to be.

[There's a note of melancholy, but she doesn't dive into the depressing fact that her people had been long wiped out. Sought for the very power that they used to achieve their prosperity.

Instead she clears her throat, adjusting to sit up more straight.]

It has been... an adjustment. [The tone of her voice suggests that it's not all bad, though.] As far as when I arrived, it has been...

[She stops, putting a hand to her cheek,] Five phoebes. Rather... you might know them as months. I can't believe it's been so long already.

[ The way her voice lowers and she clears her throat says volumes, however subtle the action may be. But Siegfried isn't one to prod anymore than one might feel comfortable sharing, and she's clearly not, so he stays quiet and attentive.

His eyes widen. Nearly half a year. That simply wouldn't do for him (but hopefully nano survives that long) with his duties back home. She's clearly a wise soul in terms of experience here, though. ]

Five months. [ He repeats. ] I see. If I understand correctly, that's more than enough time to have given into the pressure to form a bond, right? Have you had a good experience or are at least able to cope with such an arrangement?

Pressure is one way to put it. [Said with a small laugh. She understood all too well how off-putting the concept of bonding was when she first arrived too. And while she didn't explode she had quite a few... magical mishaps in the meantime.]

But yes. I was reluctant at first - even though I arrived with friends from my world, the bonding seemed a little too... personal.

[It didn't help that some of the first people she talked to about it framed it in a deeply romantic context.]

The magical benefits of a bond are very real, though. I don't regret making the choice to do so.
