You lift my spirit
Who: Yosuke Hanamura and Yu Narukami
When: Full Moon and the day after-ish
Where: Their home
What: Yu gets wings during the full moon, Yosuke patches him up, and then it's flying lessons. And a possible adventure.
Warnings: Kinda graphic and bloody when the wings come out, that's about it.
Yosuke's back itched and he knew it had nothing to do with his actual back and all to do with the fact that it was a full moon and Yu was in the middle of another major change. Because he was a chimera, it meant they couldn't really predict a lot of the changes. So, he grabbed the satchel of medicines and bandages and made his way outside to prepare for a long night.
A lot of the medicine he already prepared as a precaution, but there were others he wasn't sure about until Yu actually had the symptoms and he could try and figure out what might or might not work. First off, however, was setting everything down and pulling out a vial a turquoise liquid inside along with pulling out a brand new calming charm that he had created on the new moon. It was a necklace that was also a bit of wire work to at least make it look nicer than just a satchel with herbs in it. He had gotten the idea from a book and so, the necklace was in the shape of a tree with its leaves being several different infused stones: amethyst, black tourmaline, and lepidolite. Look, there would be more but he wanted to color-coordinate here. It also made up for the lack of lavender and peppermint that Yu may have been used to. But he could fix that later, he was hoping that this type of necklace would be a bit more powerful to help combat the power of the full moon, even if only a little bit.
He knelt down beside Yu and handed him the vial first. "Here, drink this. It should help with the pain."

In a way more a symbolical gesture as there was no doubt with his strength that he could get out as easily as he had gotten in, but it was a sort of way to showcase to Yosuke that he wasn't planning on going away.
"There's no pain yet," he argued even as sweat beads slowly ran down his forehead, but Yu took the liquid carefully with his clawed hands and drowned it in a single gulp. "Ahh...it tastes better than I thought."
no subject
"Yeah but it should last a few hours so better to get it kicking in before whatever happens, happens," Yosuke argued lightly back, but he smiled through his nervousness at the compliment. "Good, I remember you said it didn't taste very good last time."
He took the now empty vial and pocketed it. Then, he pulled out the new charm and unclasped it, stepping behind Yu so he could put it on.
"I made you a new one, should be stronger too," He said, clipping it and letting it rest around Yu's neck. It was here he could see those weird bumps on his partner's shoulder blades seem more prominent and possibly moving? He remembered the wings back in that dream and his mouth set into a line. "This isn't going to be pretty."
He hoped the painkiller was enough... he didn't exactly make anything to numb, no topical or anything to ingest either. Damn, he should have thought of that!

"Here's hoping it's fast then." To be fair, most of his changes happened in the span of a few hours, so it was a good gamble. "Thank you for the consideration."
Just little touches that showed how Yosuke cared and Yu can't help but smile. A claw moved the charm so he could take a better look at it. "Well maybe not, but the charm looks really pretty." Anything to keep his mind off of it.
"What does it look back there?"
The bumps were growing but there wasn't anything breaking just yet. Like tiny little bones moving inside.

And then teeth burst from Yu's back.He clenched his teeth and breathed in and out, using the towel he had grabbed on his way out to dry his forehead.
"It's not as scary as the first time. Especially with you around like this and taking care of me." He recalled his dream and stroked his chin. "So do you think I'll be able to carry you with the wings?"
no subject
Yosuke would think the same if their positions were reversed. He wished he could do something more for his partner though. "You know I would, partner."
He thought about it as well and could only shrug. "I don't see why not. They were pretty big and you're a lot stronger than me. I doubt my weight won't add much. But let's just make sure you can even fly first before we start making flight plans."
no subject
"Remember our bet aCK!"
Crack went the bones in his back, rearranging themselves to better fit the weight of whatever was coming out of them. Apart from the noise, thankfully the movement of the sinew and bone pushing outwards wasn't as gross as a horror movie, all things considered. It just looked like...well hilariously, almost like giant pairs of human-skinned ready-to-cook chicken wings, if said wings had claws at the end. They kept growing and extended for what seemed like hours, but in reality mere minutes.
"How does it look?"
Yu doesn't want to look right away since he figures it might just make him get worst and panic.
"It doesn't feel very heavy..."
Hopefully that's not what he's going to end up with, because he looks ridiculous.

βU-uh... not very pretty, honestly...β He finally managed to squeak out, shuddering at the sounds. βH-How are you doinβ?β
no subject
"Aww, if I was going to get something on my back, I'd hope to look at least a little beautiful." He clinches his teeth trying to say the words but manages to say his joke before adding; "F-fine. Kinda dizzy...still better than last time."
The 'wings' behind him begin to move as his brain makes the connection and he flaps them tentatively. Doesn't sound like anything when there's only piece of stretched skin and bones there.
"I don't think I'll be able to fly with whatever those are on my back right now...so itchy..."
Each flap however seems to case a reaction as Yu lowers to the ground to keep the pain from overcoming him. The skin begins to grow fluff, little tube-like shafts expanding outwards at the tip of the naked wings, outlines of feathers beginning to take shape in a rainbow of colors.

His eyes widen as feathers begin to grow however. Well, it was easier to understand why it felt itchy now. But this wasnβt something any salve or ointment was going to cure. They just had to wait it out.
βI think itβll work out.β
Yosuke was going to wait until either Yu looked behind himself or until it was all over to tell him.
no subject
"What do you mean?"
He tried to flap them again, this time the feathers growing fast enough to cause a snap in the air. As Yu buried himself into Yosuke's neck, it didn't take long for the feathers to finish growing, forming an impressive pair of colourful wings in a rainbow of colors that almost glittered in the moonlight.
(No he's not a vampire.)
Yu felt himself being pushed more into Yosuke as his back adjusted to the weight, adding more muscle in between his spine. Hopefully the last growth spurt of forever, he hoped.

They'd probably look even better when the sun was up. He was kind of jealous. Not completely, he wasn't sure he wanted to ever go through the pain Yu was going through and he was only getting the residuals.
"Maybe I shoulda made your charm match."
no subject
"It reminds me of the colors on my TV World glasses."
A much larger splash of color expanded in his new body, but it made the grey a lot less boring, he had to agree. He moved them back and forth repeatedly before folding them around the both of them.
"You're right. I do like them. And the charm is find just the way it is. After all, you made it."
no subject
He failed at the compliment.
βGeez, how do you say that with a straight face?!β It was so sappy!
no subject
"You make it easy."
Easy to tease. Easy to give compliments to. This was your new life with your colorful boyfriend, Yosuke.
no subject
He paused then and even though he crossed his arms, his face did soften a bit even if still flushed. "You are feelin' okay, right?"
no subject
"Well it is painful, but you're around." Wow, just making it worse. "That being said, I think what you gave me helped a lot, once the initial pain subsided. I guess it was my brain and body adjusting? And I didn't have a shirt on, I think that might have been a lot worse."
Tentatively, he stands up, the wings still around him like a cape before he falls down again.
"Still haven't quite found my balance either. They are light, but I guess it might take time with my feet."
He paused and looked at the damage he had done. A few months ago that would have worried him greatly, but thanks to Yosuke's help he saw the more positive side of things now.
"Maybe I can grow seeds...I wonder if they have birds of paradise in this world? Yosuke, what are your favorite flowers? Asking for a friend."
no subject
He winced a little when Yu fell over again, but even through the bond he knew the big guy wasn't hurt. He sighed heavily. At least the itching and soreness was mostly gone now even on his side.
"The fact that you don't know should be insulting," Yosuke said wryly, stepping around his now feathered friend to pick up his unused and unneeded bag. He rummaged within and pulled out a bottle that was just another dose of painkiller. He handed it over to Yu. "Look at the label."
While Yosuke wasn't exactly known for superb handwriting, let alone calligraphy, it was at least legible. At least he hoped it was. Right down the label was εζ₯θ΅.
Sunflower.
He rubbed the back of his neck, sheepish and embarrassed. "Was just gonna put my last name, but then I figured maybe I could just... add to it. Saki-senpai was the only one who called me Hana-chan, y'know? But just using flower felt dumb so... why not the kind I like?"
no subject
Don't worry Yosuke, Yu is on a transformation 'high' right now. Tomorrow there would be a good need for the painkillers. But right now, he attempted to grab the bottle or at least squint to get a better look at it.
Sunflower.
"It fits you," he admits, a little sad he hadn't caught on before. "But noted. Let's plant many sunflower seeds." He pauses, wondering if he should go for the cheese response and it wins over; "Although they might be following you and not the sun."

His partner really did look absolutely silly trying to balance himself like that.
"C'mon, we should figure out how you're gonna sleep like that, partner."
no subject
"Ha ha, is that how you're gonna be? Now you're just asking that I make a joke about sleeping together"
He tries to talk a few steps. A little rough at first, but Yu quickly finds his balance after a few other falls. He's not the type to give up. Eventually the wings end up curling around him like a cloak, giving him just the right weight for him to be able to walk semi normally. As much as someone can do when they have wings and wolven feet.
"I might have to start having to invest in a hammock." A pause. "Or a giant treehouse."
no subject
Don't deny it.
Yosuke waited by the door as Yu found his foot, holding it open so he can maneuver himself inside. The doorway was wider than a Japanese one so there likely wouldn't be too much trouble, especially with them wrapped around the big guy.
"You're not sleeping outside, partner. We'll figure something out."
no subject
Yu isn't the type to lie. He looks pleased with himself regardless, he thanks him before stepping in and wiping the carpet with his feet. Not much to help, but it's the little things.
"Maybe we could install a hammock inside? That might be possible. I wonder if they make beds? Super super super king?"
no subject
"I don't see why not? People are turning into all sorts of things, after all."
Which was super weird to say and think about. He wasn't sure how well he would take something like this himself, but he knew that it wasn't like it was smooth sailing for Yu either. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little selfish that he was glad he was a witch. And he hated feeling like that because it wasn't like Yu deserved this either.
"C'mon," He rubbed the back of his neck, dropping his bag off on the side table for now. He'll put everything back later. "Let's go... make you something at least remotely comfortable for now. Like a nest of pillows or something."
no subject
Maybe it's because he's a big ham."I guess so..."
It was strange to think about, Yu had to agree. He doesn't mention anything feeling Yosuke being selfish about it. Honestly, Yu would rather be a witch, but both of them wouldn't work and he'd rather be a monster to help him out.
"Pillows and blankets sounds fun. Too bad there's no proper Japanese floors here, that might help too."
