Event Log: June, A Midsummer Night's Dream

I. IUNERIL 17TH - THE FULL MOONS The days leading up to the full moons are the same as last month: Monsters are a little itchier and a little easier to agitate, whether they mean to be or not, which becomes increasingly noticeable the day before the full moons. But of particular note is that this may be the second full moons that some arrivals have experienced, and with that comes greater risks, greater agitation, and further reminders to take care of themselves. Weather fair, despite the worries of the city, Monsters will find that the Sisters aren't blocked away by clouds this night. The moons cast their light down on the city, and the pull is strong for even the veteran natives that call the city home. The Coven is offering potions and charms, in an attempt to encourage those without a Bond to ensure that they will be able to keep their wits about them throughout the entire stretch of the Sisters' time in the sky at their fullest. They're always allowed to reject the offer, but it's with a warning: if they let their newfound instincts overtake them, then they might find themselves back in the Coven under worse conditions. But the Sisters rise framed in stark red skies, even as evening falls across Aefenglom, much to the discontent of the city. Streets that are rarely dim are lit up even moreso, now, in the face of this omen, lanterns and candles leading all the way to the Harbor District. Their colors flicker with shades of blue, green, violet - anything to offset the red. Boats that come and go along the river also carry a lantern or two with the same intent, and ships in the harbor are decorated with magical faerylights, strung across hulls, masts, the works. There's no place in the Harbor District untouched by light, with nary a sign of red in the midst of their goods. Tensions are already high, between the humans and Monsters of Aefenglom. It's especially noticeable on this night: full moons already cause everyone to be a little jumpy, but with the red tidings for Litha, they're more on edge than ever. Some blame the new arrivals, though never directly to their face, especially when they don't know who, or what, someone might be. It's always a there-and-gone whisper, it seems like. Gossip. Distrust. Unease. It doesn't lend well to the full moons, but there are still those that want to help. Many will notice that there's already activities and decorations up for Litha, some of them still under construction despite the fast approaching festival. The most notable of all are the hedge mazes that have been constructed, both by hand and with magic to encourage their growth. Behind the festival organizers' backs, a group of people - both man and beast - are offering Monsters a chance to burn off some of their energy by embracing their instincts in a more... constructive manner, with native Witches and Monsters alike prepared to intervene if things get a little too violent. In a sort of mockery of Litha's traditions, they're partnering Monsters up with a willing participant to run the mazes, with a variety of options that they will list. The partner - or partners, if there is a party looking to go in together - can be either Witch or Monster, and the people organizing this won't judge as they inform the interested individuals of their options: a. A-HUNTING WE WILL GO, allowing the Monster to either hunt a small livestock or game animal (a piglet, fowls, rabbits, the like) or to hunt down their partner through the maze they've chosen. This need not end violently, and can become more of a game of hide and seek meets tag. b. EVERYBODY WAS FIGHTING, where one maze in particular has been devoted to a makeshift fight ring at the very heart of it. The organizers hope, somewhat, that by making the Monster(s) in question run the maze first they'll be a little tired out already when reaching the ring. c. UNDER THE PALE MOONLIGHT, because instincts don't always call for violence, the organizers offer a more intimate experience here, whether it's sexual or nonsexual. Maybe you just want a good cuddle..? The organizers emphasize the idea of consent, and will not force anyone against their will into the hedge mazes, no matter which one it is. They also want to make sure that they will step in to help if called upon, in case someone gets a little too overeager. Witches looking to use magic this night will, peculiarly, find that their magic is a little less... cooperative. Many of the Coven Witches speak of how they specifically wait to cast powerful spells on the night of the full moons, to ensure that they have the greatest chances of success with the help of the Sisters. However, Witches of the new arrival persuasion are much weaker on full moons. Their magic is still there, and they can still draw upon it for spells, but they'll have to put greater effort if they want to cast a spell with any significant amount of power. Overexerting oneself while doing this is entirely possible, so it's best to try and find some sort of balance, lest you find yourself exhausted and without a means to defend yourself. We ask that any and all NSFW threads be marked accordingly, or otherwise moved to a locked post on the log community or an entry/inbox on a character journal. Remember to please be excellent to each other, and respect all limits that your threadmates might have, if you explore the more sexual or violent aspects of the offered prompts. If things get OOCly out of hand, please let us know; if things get ICly out of hand, please let Nessie and Mhairi know.

II. LITHA - IUNERIL 21ST TO 23RD Despite what chaos there might have been on the night of the full moons, and the subsequent day after as things began to calm, Litha still arrives as scheduled on Iuneril 21st, as the sun begins to set. The summer solstice reaches its peak the following night, and the festivities wind down the third dusk. While certainly still lively, it isn't as completely festive as Boaltinn, most certainly because of the red skies, and the natives are obviously trying to make the best they can of what they perceive as a poor situation. To say that the natives are on edge would certainly be an understatement. Whatever happened in those hedge mazes is untraceable, now, and everything looks pristine. Faerylights decorate every awning, overhang, and eave, magical and twinkling with colors to offset the red skies. There are no bonfires, this go around, but much like the fires it seems that the lights all lead to the primary area of celebration: in contrast to Boaltinn, Litha is celebrated in the Entertainment, Shopping, and Harbor Districts. Doors to businesses are wide open (with many even having large signs indicating VAMPIRES WELCOME HERE - those that don't make a clear statement), and stalls offering wares and foods and activities alike are set up at nearly every corner alongside preestablished businesses in the market. The harbor is especially lively, with many sailors coming and going as they prepare for setting sail. While ships themselves are always coming and going in the port, Litha is an important time for the more longterm voyages and those meant to carry some significance, and each ship departing is bid farewell with equal fanfare. Fireworks and celebration that is, at least in some part, genuine, but does carry a certain level of enthusiasm that borders on force of will. a. ASKING FOR A LITTLE COMPANY Though all businesses in the Entertainment District open their doors for the festivals of Aefenglom, the brothels of the city in particular are offering a warm welcome this Litha to anyone who might be interested in spending some time with someone - or, multiple someones. They have open rooms for mingling, lounges with floor pillows and low tables where customers can partake in spiced and unspiced drinks alike, where the unspiced are lacking in the potions and near-aphrodisiacs of the spiced drinks. Private rooms are also available for those seeking a more... intimate experience, however one may take that to mean. The brothel workers are more than happy to attend to any interested parties, but also aren't against randomly pairing individuals up, based on their specifications. And, after a little misunderstanding regarding their classes, the Head Madame of the guild has decided that they will be offering chances for individuals to perform at their establishments. She was rather charmed by the mishap, bless your souls, as were the rest of the guild, so the new arrivals have endeared themselves to the brothel workers. Dances, conversation, assorted busking - whatever skills that their quest-takers learned, whether it be of the more sexual nature or not, they'll provide whatever they might need to put on a show and attract or entertain clientele. b. I'M WISHING FOR THE ONE I LOVE Anyone interested in making their way into the Shopping District will find just as many open doors, as well as numerous stalls interspersed where they weren't before. Vendors hawking their wares and goods like always call out with Litha specials, and businesses set up temporary stalls to draw attention to themselves, with promise of greater bargains and products to be found at their main establishment. There are many that sell spiced foods and drinks, with varying degrees of strength depending on how one wants to feel. Others are selling candles and lanterns, offering a magitech version of a lighter at a steal, depending on how much you purchase otherwise. The largest stalls, and the biggest displays at storefronts, are the flowers though. Every single flower shop in Aefenglom has come out full force, practically painting the district in a myriad of non-red colors as they put their stock on full display. They offer deals for those who wish to buy bouquets for a sweetheart or someone they admire, as well as anyone wanting to make flower crowns for those they care for. Each of the seven largest shops are also handing out a single flower for those partaking in festivities to place under their pillow to dream of future partners, the flower they're typically most well known for; this varies from shop to shop, but the up and coming Rose Bush certainly isn't going to let superstition stop them, and are handing out red roses. It's a bold move, but one that causes the tizzy that they were intending it to. And if one is feeling particularly whimsical, they can go to any well at night, looking into the depths in a bid to see their future spouse and true love within. Perhaps making an offering of a flower would bring good luck..? Just don't linger for too long, as there's a rumor that someone is pushing unfamiliar faces into the well, likely targeting those they think are new arrivals. c. GET LOST WITH ME Though the Harbor District has some bleedover from the Shopping District in terms of festivities, their streets and warehouses are where the most room is available for the hedge mazes. Some are sprawling as they fill the streets and alleys, spilling into the towering buildings that have been empty to load the contents onto waiting ships. They create their own environments, with flowers from the flower shops blooming in the rows and creating archways at entrances and exits. Some are enchanted to seem neverending, although there always is an exit, if one can only figure out the puzzle. Each maze has a different method to its madness, and arrangements that those running them have decided on. (Some faces may seem familiar, to those that encountered them on the full moons; they'll feign otherwise, focused only on the now and refusing to draw attention to any recognition.) Some mazes send in the partners together, randomly selected and tasked with figuring out how to reach the end of the maze together. Others will send the partners in from different ends, with the instructions to find one another, whether in the center of the maze or in its winding path. Another variety offers something reminiscent of the hide and seek meets tag game, tasking one as the hunter and the other as the hunted, a game of pursuit meant to replicate the "playing hard to get" variety of courtship. There's no restrictions on how many times one can enter the maze, as it allows one to forge many bonds - and possibly Bonds - and replicates the process of finding your true love. Or, loves; no one here is going to judge anyone. They certainly won't judge, either, if participants opt to take a swig of something for luck in love before they go in. However, some mazes have been tampered with: rather than opening out into somewhere safe on the street or in a building, they empty out unaware participants into the port itself. Hopefully you know how to swim. Once again, we ask that if any threads take on a NSFW nature that they be marked as such, or otherwise moved to a locked post in the log community or an entry/inbox in a character journal.

The Full Moon

Paris, at least, has learned from Connor's experience- which is to say, he's in the water before the moons really hit. His instincts didn't get the better of him last time, but as he's still not Bonded he took one of the charms anyway. The last things he wants to do is hurt someone on accident during all of this.

Those by the shore or in the water themselves might see him there, popping up with delight when he sees someone he recognizes. "I have a tail now!" he says happily, flipping back under the water to show off the glowing dots in the moonlight. Of course, there is no guaranteed that he remains this friendly or excited through the whole night...

Wishing - Drinks

This is very different from any kind of festival Paris is used to, but that's not really a surprise when everything here is so different. He likes it, though. The air of it all is lively and cheerful, and even the poor mood of many of the residents (especially aimed at someone with obvious Monster features like himself) can't get him down. And the drinks...! They're absolutely delicious.

Of course, delicious is not the only things those drinks are... it's entirely possible that after having one of them, Paris may spot you and immediately flush a deep crimson. He's a quick blusher normally, but this feels a bit extreme even to him...

Wishing - Flower crowns

Paris can also be found settled in front of a flower shop, happily chaining together a flower crown. Perhaps with or without a bit of the spiced drinks still in his system, he looks up at anyone who might be watching. "Do you want to try...?" he'll ask quietly.

Getting Lost

Paris is absolutely fascinated by the hedgemazes, looking over the one he's in front of currently with wide eyes. "It... it seems like fun," he muses softly, looking shyly at his partner, "Do you want to go in?" Whether they're going in together or have to find each other... it seems like a nice way to pass the time.

Some Housekeeping - Closed to Roommates/Neighbors

Living in a house with so many people has been surprisingly good for Paris. He quite likes all of his roommates, even though he doesn't understand them and the things they say or do much of the time. It's nice to have people around, and even though they don't need it in other ways... it's nice to be able to look after people by cooking for them. (He learned fairly quickly that at least two and possible all of his roommates were fairly useless in that regard, and he doesn't mind picking that up at all.)

He pulls a fresh loaf of bread from the oven, and has a bowl of salad and a bird that he'd panfried laid out. He peaks his head out of the kitchen, tentatively calling, "Um... I made food, if anyone wants dinner...."

[ 1. A-Hunting We Will Go ]

[ Berserker hasn't been formally told what he is, but he's getting rather cranky now, especially now that curved horns sprouted from his head. It's obvious he's not a witch, but he doesn't know what sort of beast he is.

Whatever poor soul he gets paired off with will need to deal with this newfound irritation in him. He's ready to go, either way. While he finds no joy in this task, he knows he's good at tracking down prey, whatever the prey may be. ]

[ 2. Everybody Was Fighting -- CW: violence ]

[ A chance to fight...But this is a little bit dangerous for whoever he's fighting. Such as the poor soul he has pinned down, about to tear at them with his newfound claws. They're very, very lucky he doesn't have his spear with him right now. He starts to tear into them, blood staining his claws and hands.

He's very strong and likely to lash out, so subduing him may be a bit difficult. If something isn't done, though, he's likely to kill his opponent. Decisions, decisions. ]

[ Berserker wandered over to these mazes in hopes of being alone. Despite the growing irritation from the full moon, the way he keeps losing control of himself, he still seeks to be alone. It's not bad enough for him to seek out help just yet. As he makes his way into the maze, it becomes clear quickly he's not alone. A pity. ]

[America had gone into this maze expecting fun, low-to-mid-key sparring to be going down. When he gets through the maze to the ring, he really didn't expect this high-to-extreme-key stuff. And, looking at it for half a second longer, he's really sure this isn't right. That guy (girl? America can't even tell) on the ground is going to die at this rate!

So America, with his wings spread and his own claws out, leaps into the ring to attempt to tear this guy off the poor sucker who got paired up with him. He's not being shy about applying his super strength right now.]

The Full Moons

[Last time the full moons rolled around, Connor gained a tail. This time he seems to have lost something- his eyesight. He's at the beach luckily, knowing he'd be stuck with a tail for a night, but that doesn't make it any less alarming as his vision dims until he can barely make out shapes above the water. Luckily, under the water he can see just fine. The fins on his head have grown in finally, protruding from his ears. His eyes have no pupils and are blue, with the entire sclera turning black. If he could see them, he'd remark that the blind androids in the evidence locker looked like this.

He's Bonded with Hank, but the pull of the moons are strong and he still finds himself humming tonight. Just below the water, he's almost waiting for someone to be drawn in. His voice is soft and echoes in an otherworldly sort of way, and when he senses that he's got someone hooked he draws closer. Luckily he's in a playful mood right now.]


Litha: 1 (potential for NSFW!)

[Guess who has legs again, and really needs to stop licking things? This guy. He was offered a taste of a potion, and unsure of what it was he figured he could just analyse it. You'd think after a month of that function not really working right, he'd know better.

Anyone who gets close to Connor might find he's being a little too touchy. Innocent for now, just a hand on the arm or leaning gently against them, but soon if it's left alone might turn to nuzzling noses and linking fingers together playfully. And if encouraged, you might just earn a kiss.]

Litha: 2

[Connor is happy to be paired up with someone to go adventuring in a maze. It seems like fun, and he likes to think that he could solve the puzzle of how to leave fairly easily. Of course he's never actually been in a maze before, so results may vary. Left long enough, he might offer to his companion that they take a break and just chat for a while, maybe get to know each other better. Maybe if they take long enough, someone will take pity on them and help them out.]

[Paris is walking around sans Aeto for the moment, taking in the sights and sounds and... everything. He's already in a good mood, so when he spots Connor he just perks up all the more, waving at him.]

I-b. Everybody was fighting

[Ignis doesn't really care about the mazes until he hears there's a fighting arena in the middle of one, at which point he ends up lurking around the entrance to the maze area looking for familiar faces to suggest a little spirited combat. He misses the fight, just a bit, misses Gladio for that most of all, but maybe he can find someone strong enough to give him a run for his money here, too. Armed with his daggers, and well aware that his Witch abilities will not be cooperating, he waits in a little area that seems to be filled with people looking for ideal partners for the mazes.

And once he finds someone, in they go. Whether they work their way through the maze together or go separate ways to see who gets to the arena first, eventually they end up there. He'll politely bow to his opponent before sliding his daggers out of the sheaths he acquired for them and settling in, ready to fight.]

I-c. Under the pale moonlight

[Once he has a few fights under his belt, Ignis opts for a more relaxing stroll through the mazes. These festivities, it turns out, aren't all his thing, but he'll at least try to take the advice of others and do one whole turn in the mazes for a more calming experience.

He finds surprising company for this, considering he's not willing to ask anyone for it. He's merely milling around and mingling until he's asked to join someone. If it happens, it happens, and he'll gladly take a nice little tiptoe through the hedges.]


II-b. I'm wishing for the one I love

[A friend deposited a flower crown on Ignis' head early into this, and he's found a little amusement in helping others select bouquets (flower meanings--from back home at least--aren't beyond him) and single stems for friends and lovers and companions alike. He looks a bit of a silly sight with the flower crown occasionally dipping low to knock his glasses about.]

You look like you're looking for something. I can help with the flowers. This one looks like one from my home that means "unending loyalty". It's one of my favorites.

[Need help selecting a flower? He'll be there. But beware the latter parts of the day, because someone graciously bought him a drink as thanks, and being rather parched, he drank it without knowing the consequences of the spiced beverages. So later in the evening, one might just get offered a casual, meaningless flower by a slightly friendlier than usual Ignis.]


II-c. Get lost with me

[Since the prior mazes were entertaining enough, Ignis finds himself near the ones in the Harbor District, too. This time, they're less into letting you pick your partner, it seems, and he's awkwardly thrust forward into the maze with... some random person. Maybe he's met them, maybe he hasn't, but he's straightening his waistcoat and looking around for a moment like he's been done a bit of a disservice. Then he smiles faintly to his maze partner.]

Okay so there was lots of better ways, but this is what was available. Still, whatever he was expecting for a partner, he can't say he was fully expecting a really tall proper looking guy. He feels like he's seen this guy before- maybe either from the magic classes or from that video post the other day with the free food. He wasn't someone he had spoken to personally before, elliot was sure of that much. ]

[the red skies and twin moons make him think uncomfortably of dalamud's fall, but red roses bring back memories of happier times — so anyone who sees francel out and about on the streets of aefenglom during litha will find a tall dragon-elf cradling a small collection of the red roses that the rose bush employees are passing out.

he doesn't really have enough roses for a proper bouquet — he asked some locals for the ones he has now, but quite a few people have refused to come in contact with them at all, on account of superstition — but that's where you come in! if you happen to have taken a rose from a flowershop employee, francel will come up to you, hesitant and smiling, looking a little apologetic for good measure.]

[francel has a number of excuses readied well before he even sets out to do the shopping.

it's a bit of complicated double-think: the festival of litha, with its open brothels and aphrodisiacs and emphasis on love, is so at odds with ishgardian customs that francel feels... adrift. uncomfortable. he is far from home, and he has known that for many weeks now, but he has never felt farther from the land of his birth than he has in these past few days. now that the skies over aefenglom are red, the blue skies of ishgard seem painfully distant.

so, to remedy this...

well, it's a festival, isn't it? and a festival is not unlike a holy feast-day? it's far too warm to celebrate starlight, of course, but francel thinks that the most patriotic (and proper) thing to do is combat — er, complement — the local traditions with some good solid ishgardian traditions of his own. he pawns some of the jewelry he secretly squirreled away from his impromptu advice corner; he uses the money to buy fresh ingredients, some candles with a magic lighter, and cheap but elegant table settings, all on a budget.

a quick text to aymeric confirms that the man will be coming home eventually, so francel sets to work. it's not much, of course — they won't eat to excess — but he takes the bulk of the afternoon preparing a proper three-course supper, the sort that they were accustomed to in ishgard.

he is determined. quietly resolute. this will be a good evening, a better evening than the rest.

I. Hedge-Running - Night of the Full Moon

Iramaat has been feeling on edge the last few days and she knows why. She's been told the reason, but that doesn't mean she has to like it. Her smiles have been increasingly strained and she's been a little more irritable than usual. Rather than letting circumstances run off of her like water off of a duck's back, she's snapped once or twice or been a bit jittery - even shying away at times. Tonight is the worst it's ever been and she feels like she's going to crawl straight out of her skin, given enough time, which is why she's prowling out to find out what she can do. Something - anything. She just needs to get this energy out of her and staying inside and bouncing off of the walls wasn't doing her any favors.

So she's there, down at the hedge maze, that wide grin of hers glinting in the lamplight as she waits and looks for someone to take the plunge with her. All of the options have some appeal to her, but it's ultimately not her choice - or rather, it is. But she has to convince someone else to join her. And at this point, she thinks just about anyone will do. So she reaches out to grab a passer-by or just someone who's also stopped to listen to the sales pitch, whether she knows them or not.

"What do you think?" She asks, eyes wide, almost too innocent, "Which one would you rather do?"

She's not giving them a chance to back out of it. She needs this and she'll be happy enough to drag them along. Then again, they need to say yes, too.

Those who are very observant - or those who know Iramaat - will note that her horns have changed and altered, becoming more like those of a red deer, with branching tines, than the curving, swooping horns she wore on her arrival. Interesting.

II. In Fine Company - Iuneril 21

Iramaat goes out and about almost immediately, of course. She can't stay at home - that energy is still bubbling underneath the surface and she needs to find a way to get rid of it, even if it's faded since the 17th. Besides, there's so much going on and so much to see and to do with the impending festival that she simply couldn't let herself hide away at home! So she goes wandering and winds her way down to the Entertainment District and the fleshpots and pleasure houses therein. She's no stranger to hedonism, after all, and she enjoys it now and again. Even moreso if she can rope someone into it with her.

Which is probably why she sidles up to someone on the street, who may just be passing by or who may be peering at one of the pleasure houses in contemplation or just minding their own business and takes them by the elbow with a companionable smile and a flutter of her eyelashes, her other hand occupied with a glass of something spiced. It may or may not be drugged - she's no idea!

III. Crowns - Iuneril 22

Whatever may or may not have happened a few days ago, Iramaat is feeling better. Or working on feeling better, anyway. SOme of that restless energy is gone and she's allowing herself to more fully enjoy the festival and the celebrations that come with it. She probably won't mention much of anything that happened a few nights ago unless directly asked - or maybe she will, depending on her mood. Regardless, she's out exploring again, letting herself be caught up in the spirit of celebration.

Besides, it's another chance to be flashy. To find herself something interesting - or someone interesting, as the case may be. She finds the flowers particularly attractive, with the multitudes of colors and scents. She wasn't quite as endeared with them before she arrived here, she thinks, but now she wants to douse herself in them and she's happy enough to settle in at a table and weave flowers together into a colorful crown. If someone wants to speak to her or give her one, that's where they'll find her. As for her? Well - she'll stop people throughout the day to hand one over with a smile and a wink, "A lovely crown for a lovely person."

Whether they want one or not, she'll plop it on their head. Oops. There are a few people she makes special ones for, of course...

IV. Well, Well, Well... - Iuneril 22

The evening air is cool and Iramaat is enjoying it - but she's been drawn by the rumors of the well that shows you the future (or at least a portion of it). That sounds like such fun that she's just got to give it a look, even if it turns out to be nothing more than hot air and ripples in a moon-lit pool. She's even brought a few flowers as offerings! She knows how important that sort of thing is. She loiters near the entrance to the square, humming tunelessly, wanting (as always) to drag someone along with her. She has her reasons, of course.

"I hear there's someone pushing people," she comments almost at once, "Want to come with me and look anyway? I'm sure it'll be fun - and safety in numbers, you know."

V. Hedge-Running, Pt. II - Iuneril 23

Iramat is back, of course. She's not about to leave herself out of the fun because she's already done it once. Besides, she thinks that trying things out under different circumstances is always a worthwhile endeavor! She volunteers, almost immediately, to be paired up at random - or if she sees someone she knows, she might try to drag them in with her, if only to entertain herself. Actually, she probably does the latter almost exclusively to people she thinks it might irritate, because that's the sort of person she is.

"We have a couple different choices about what we can do," she laughs, "I can hunt you, if you like..."

She means that, too.

"If not, well, there's always team-work, hmm?"

Regardless, she's going back in and she wants someone to go with her.

Entrapta pulls a face and makes an uncertain sound in the top of her throat. She only came out here for a look round at the lanterns and candles that were starting to go up, she wasn't planning to stick around for anything except maybe watching people and asking a few questions before she ran into Iramaat, but...

But. She feels so restless and so itchy, especially on her shoulders and just above her eyes and on her chest, where her weird shirt/sleeve situation exposes the skin just below her collarbone. She has a length of loose wire in one of her pockets she keeps taking out and wrapping round and round her fingers and wrist to help stop herself from scratching those spots too much, but it's really not enough.

She taps her chin as she looks over the listed options, feeling the wire wrapped round her gloved finger smooth against the skin of her face. She bites her lip. (She has fangs coming in; she made a note of it a few days ago but it's still weird.) If she goes back to her workshop she's just going to be jittery and unfocussed all evening, she knows it.

"... Okay," she announces, lifting her other hand with a decisive finger raised, "what if you chase me! That's not too weird, right? All of these seem pretty weird."

She'd normally feel much more uneasy about making that kind of determination, but nobody here is from her world and she can say what she wants about her observations on what seems to be normal without anybody being able to judge her for missing something that's somehow obvious to everybody else! It's very freeing.

( normally, a festival like this might not necessarily appeal to him. for the most part, they seem aimed towards the locals, and getting mingling between various people who have never met. this one in particular encourages intimacy in such a way that luo binghe is almost offput, though he swallows his complaints for the sake of not making a scene of his otherness in this situation. what matters, what matters, is that there are two particular aspects to this festival that he finds himself particularly drawn to despite himself. neither one has to do with socializing or meeting new people, and neither will bring him "closer" to another that he's met here, but instead, he has hopes to see someone from home through following the instructions thoroughly. it's a simple process at a glance, but in practice? there's so much fuss and flirting in the streets, and so many flowers out for decorative purposes, that it's almost difficult for luo binghe to locate the actual shops that he's supposed to be hunting down for his task. it doesn't take long before he decides it's time to enlist some help. )

Excuse me. ( a young man with bright eyes, fluffy black dog ears atop his head, and flushed cheeks stops one festivalgoer in the midst of their walk. he pauses, glancing down to their hands only to find that (whether willingly collected or enthusiastically shoved into their hands,) there's one type of flower there that he doesn't have in his own collection quite yet. his eyes are bright and eager as he glances back up to meet the other's. ) Can I ask where you got that flower from?

ii. wishing for the one i love

( or maybe he doesn't approach you at all, and instead it's the other way around. the same handsome young man just a small ways away from the heart of the festival, having found a well that's near enough to be convenient but just out of the way enough to be free of the bustling excitement present on the main streets and in the harbor. he's shameless in his attempts, and it's clear what he's doing — you see your true love (and future spouse) in the well if you look into it, right? so here luo binghe is, leaning practically right into the well, with his hands bracing him at each side of its entrance as he stares intently down into the water below. and stares. and stares... he's been there quite a while, actually, and doesn't seem to be giving up any time soon. once what he believes is an appropriate amount of time has passed, he even goes so far as to gently call into the well, as if expecting a reply. )

[ Face to face as they are, one might wonder -- how did these two end up here?

The answer to that is quite simple, really, but requires backtracking perhaps some two hours, to when they'd both found their separate ways of return from the lights of the city back to their simple home. A quaint little cottage they currently share with a third, but mind you, that said other wasn't involved in this, it was all these two. Having both brought some armful of flowers with them, neither apparently too content with just one (per the rule that they've heard in town), who knows when, it occurred to them both that it might be more fun to compete. After all, what else does one do to pass time when you've apparently had the same idea and it doesn't sit so well with you?

Which, a careful array around their pillows and a sleeping potion timed with each other on purpose later, is what apparently brought them here.

Folding his arms, Hua Cheng (well, San Lang) quirks his brow to greet Luo Binghe, unimpressed. ]

[ It's on a half-joking tone, poking fun at the other the same way they both have all night, though he doesn't miss what's around. Beyond that quite meaningless jab, he knows this guy at least well enough by now to consider they both must have similar thoughts.

The scene is all white, bathed in the bright light of summer midday, but stronger still with the way that it seems to fade, giving it a more washed out look the further away they might gaze beyond where they are. It's like the center of an unfinished painting, blank canvas still stretching beyond, where the ground beneath their feet is the only thing well-defined, beneath the trees losing color and the sky blurring out. Said portion, that is, and then there's the house -- the most solid object in sight, clearly the centerpiece of the scene in its vivid contours, which has placed them both currently right in front of the door. There's not much to admire, it's the same boring cottage they know, the one they just went to sleep in under the light of the moon and a bunch of candles not long ago. ]

Well then, let's see which of us might find someone inside. I don't mind if you open it first.

[She must stand out as a witch, constantly being reminded of who she is, but this time most of the remarks are from fellow witches, reminding her to be safe and that her powers will wane this night. She works at Parliament for most of the day, but is sent out toward the evening.

Sansa isn't afraid of monsters. She knows men that are worse than the ones here. And she wants to know what the newcomers like her feel since even she has noted the hostility. The organizer spots her immediately and pairs her with one of the monsters not far.]

[Sansa stares for a moment at the monster that was chosen for her and dips into a curtsy.]

I am Sansa. I have not yet been in these mazes, but I am open.

[She holds a heated mug in her hands. The night is cool on her skin, more like the weather she was used to growing up, but unbeknownst to her, there's something in her drink. Her cheeks are a little more heated, and she's smiling a little more delighted.

She's just out of the way from the brothel itself, but those no longer make her blush. After all Lord Baelish once operated one. It's not for a lady like her, but she is looking up at the stars with a small smile, affected already.]

It is a nice night. It reminds me of standing out on the Gatehouse back home. [The tall castle walls, protecting everyone within.]

[She's sat on the floor with her legs crossed, working the flowers into flower crowns. It was more something she would have done when she was younger, but it's pretty. It reminds her of a lighter time, and she appreciates that about this place. She knows it has known it's own wars and hardships, but still it goes on.

She has hope that if her people back home survive this war, they can move on. The North will be okay. Placing the red rose she was given, Sansa heads towards the well where others are starting to gather. She doesn't line up to look though, having already married twice now.

When asked why she doesn't go over, she just responds,] It isn't for me.

[Of all the events that seem to come with Litha, this is the one that most appeals to Diarmuid. He hasn’t been hunting for such a long time- not since that- and though it’s not really the same thing, maybe this lighter, more playful version will help take the edge off a very dark memory. No one’s really told him what they’re supposed to be “hunting” just yet but he’s eager to get started anyway, stretching off his legs and chatting with the hosts as they flit back and forth between the entrances and exits of each maze.

When one of them finally heads over to him proper, his companion for the evening in tow, it’s with a grin that can only be described as mischievous.

“So, which one of you wants to do the chasing?”]

Ah- excuse me?

[If nothing else, his double-take prompts a warm laugh from the other witch. So, that’s how it’s going to be, hmm? That explains why everyone was being so coy.

In spite of himself, Diarmuid’s peering at his partner with an inquisitive look, eyes almost falcon-like under the glow of the twin moons overhead. Is he going to take it easy on them, will it be the opposite, or are they going to be evenly matched in a way that makes it impossible for him to resist the challenge? Either way, it’s gearing up to be a very interesting evening.]

ii. asking for a little company

[On the flipside, this is one side of the festival he could do without. Though he fully understands the symbolism and that there’s no ill will in any of it, the magic mixed into the drinks is distasteful to him. He’s quick to turn down both cup and company when offered to him. But whilst he maintains a smile in spite of the discomfort creeping up over him, it strains his good natured replies and has him constantly putting a hand to his cheek, fingertips brushing over the mole, or walking with his head down. Months of breaking a habit broken in one night. Hm.

Regardless, fate has a way of wrapping him up in these kinds of things. While the pub he was just drinking at had favoured drinks of the vanilla variety, a few of the patrons have already indulged elsewhere. Which is how he ended up with a giggling young woman wound around his arm, tugging at him to follow her to another bar. As much as he wants to push her away, it would be downright boorish to be physical with a lady. The trouble is, she’s obviously very tipsy, very smitten and deaf to his gentle attempts to peel himself away from her.

“It feels like I’ve known you my whole life…! Come on, it’ll be fun!”

When Diarmuid catches sight of someone walking by, he seizes upon the chance.]

There you are! I’ve been waiting for you.

[Taking advantage of the woman’s surprise, he slips free and puts a hand on his potential rescuer’s shoulder, catching them before they can pass by. The gesture is ambiguous enough to be friendly or intimate, leaving the nature of the relationship he’s attempting to fake up to the other person.

If they decide to play along, that is.]

iii. i’m wishing for the one i love

[The dexterity needed to wield a spear, he’s discovered, has a lot in common with the kind needed to make flower crowns. Though he’s destroyed more than a few flowers in the process of learning, now that Diarmuid’s gotten the hang of it, he’s weaving stems together with ease. Any mistakes, he’s also realised, can be quickly fixed or hidden with a little magic. A basic incantation can reattach leaves and fallen petals if he’s quick to react.

The odds are that he's gravitated towards familiar faces but he's not shy about breaking the ice with new ones either. Occasionally, he might glance up and ask the person nearest to him to try on the crown he's working on for reference or to compliment them on their technique.

Or maybe the full moons' influence has give his spell casting an unintended kick. As he repairs a clumsily laced branch, the energy channeled into it could accidentally spread to his neighbour's handiwork and send the vines or flowers they're using into a frenzy of overgrowth and blossoms.]

( his first, instinctive response to the gesture is that his shoulders go stiff immediately as the hand touches him. not only does he have not the best associations with that — with being touched without warning — but they're hardly in an area of town where luo binghe would be likely to relax into the touch regardless of circumstance. not all of their surroundings, but not none of them either, are brothels; luo binghe, for his part, doesn't necessarily appreciate their touchy way of bringing in their customers when he's trying to focus. or, again, being touched at all.

his eyes are sharp though, and in a moment he's sized the situation up from eyeing the man whose touched him and his company. has deduced that maybe, just maybe, that man is in a similar sort of position to what luo binghe himself had just felt such disdain for a moment ago — so he offers an easy smile as he meets the man's eyes. )

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the other place — the one by the harbor. ( which he completely pulls out of his ass, who knows if it really exists. ) Come on, the others are waiting.

( who can go wrong with a maze? it actually sounds exciting that even wei wuxian can't stop himself from wanting to join in. the whole chasing animals isn't new to him, having chased pheasants in his past life makes him more willing and then the idea of being hunted by another.. now that's heart racing! now what really gets wei wuxian going is the possibility of what secrets could be hiding within the twists and turns of a maze? he's curious, more than he was before as he moves through the crowds of people until he links his arms with someone at random — pulling them along towards the entrance of the maze and with a beat. )

Hey, hey ~ I hope you didn't have any plans, you're coming with me, okay? ( now, they can easily push him away but why do that when he's already catching the attention of the director in terms of what they can do and when it comes to the decision of a mere animal or one of the two people together; wei wuxian turns to take a look at his partner. ) You know, my dear friend! We can do whatever you'd like, so why don't you choose? ( truthfully, he doesn't want to go in alone and what's wrong with meeting someone through this anyway? there's no need for introductions we they can just throw themselves into the mishaps of the maze. )

I'm really good at catching pheasants, I'd even cook it for you if I get it!

oo2. asking for a little company

( he even wears a mask that he's found, one shaped like a rabbit to hide his face so he could join the workers at the brothel. it seems like a chance to chit-chat with some extra company but not only that, the idea of getting drunk also occurs to him. now he's been told the one, two and what he's going to be doing which all comes down to selling beverages. he can do that, sell them outside the brothel to get others to want to visit the establishment and who is wei wuxian to deny the chance to give away drinks?

so with a platter in hand, four different cups sit on the surface that he holds out to the first person he comes into contact with once he makes his way outside. ) Hello ~ Do you wanna kill time and meet the cutest sisters and brothers you've ever seen? I can take you there! ( but since this brothel is just feeling so generous, wei wuxian adds his own twist to his act in trying to pull someone in. ) Or maybe you don't wanna, which I understand! So what if we play a game that if you lose, you come with me and if I lose... I'll give you any drink that you want! ( he's setting the platter on top of his head, balancing that and the drinks as he pulls out a few cards from the sleeves of his robes to show the other. they're all labeled with truths and dares while pulling a small ball out as well.

now the thing about this is that the drinks wei wuxian has is normal alcohol and one of them spiced as a love potion — tis the season to get romantic! though, he's not suppose to tell the brothel's secrets so instead playing a small game wouldn't hurt, would it? ) I've never played before but I've learned what to do! I have it all set up at that table over there, would you want to try?

( alright, this is beer pong with a twist. there's a dare under each cup, do the dare, keep the cup. refuse the dare, keep the cup! but the drinks vary from love potion, regular alcohol and then misc drinks that probably gives you a cute charm mark or heart eyes. we out here to look CUTE. what we win is getting drunk. please, the video is so funny, we gotta play this. )

( he's curious, lightly tapping at a poor soul's shoulder to gain their attention as he shows the basket that he has filled with various ones. they all range from different colors that he's gathered while walking about the district and now he just has too many! now, he could offer them to the person but he has something else in mind which he snaps his fingers at the idea. )

They're supposed to have magical properties or something like that, but have you ever thought about eating them? Would you like to try some! I got each and every one that the sellers were giving out! ( he's already pulling out a rose, holding it to the other as a gift but not for long until his faithful companion — li'l apple — comes onto the scene to do his job. whether the person wei wuxian is talking to already has a flower or not, the donkey takes a bite out of the rose offered by his master first and then eats whatever flower his company had right after. chomp, chomp, chomp and he swallows that down.

next, li'l apple clops over to wei wuxian's basket, eating away the flora that he had collected before turning back to the stranger, flopping his ears and staring as if.. they should have more food!! there's a look of disbelief on wei wuxian's face, ready to scold his companion until the donkey does the worst thing ever... and that's sneezing... onto whoever wei wuxian had been speaking to. getting wet flowers and slobber onto their person and it's.. quite alot.. maybe he's allergic. )

I. Full Moon
The night and the mazes are meant to be for the monsters, but in his heart of hearts, Greyjay knows that he loves the chase as much as anyone. He's a quick runner, fond of dirty tricks, and dearly, desperately wants to spar until he's worn out.
In the ring, he'll be content to count coup, fight until someone calls uncle, or fight to first blood. Dull edges or sharp, hand to hand, or most other options up for negotiation. He will make a point to talk to anyone before going into the maze or ring and make sure that they know what they're doing and what they want - he doesn't want to be mauled by some overeager bugbear, nor does he want to end up on charges himself.
"What do you think? You quick enough?"

II. Litha

The brothels are worth a quick look-see, but until he has enough money to spare, there's no point in flinging his coin around. Especially not when it's a festival where all manner of business is being pushed. While he's not wholly pleased with working for an apothecary again, it's hardly the worst possible outcome. He's quick with a knife and can easily take apart strange plants or stranger animals.
They don't have flower crowns, but there are potions that preserve blossoms or help others in their quest for love. Or lust. Greyjay only judges the quality of their purse, not their morals or interests.

After a quick bit of negotiation with a local instrument maker, Greyjay has been outfitted with a half-decent oud. It's not ideal, but he's glad to have something with strings to play and it was worth promising half his profits to the maker in lieu of rent. His voice is clear and sweet, but he's no bard - there's no magical pull to his music, just skill and a good knowledge of songs.
Greyjay moves between fast music for dancing, slower songs for those that want to canoodle, and the occasional bit of storytelling ballad. He'll gladly take any requests, so long as they come with a coin or two, and is genuinely enjoying himself.

[Elliot had heard from the locals that a witch's power was heightened during the full moon. So logically, instead of going anywhere near a bunch of potentially feral monsters in the hedgemaze, the young musician decided to the coven to get some productive magic practice in.

Except...as he's quickly finding in the courtyard, it's not going as planned. Despite being able to summon a bucket's worth of water a few days before, just a small splash of water comes forth. His light spells? Look closer to tiny sparks than the lantern size light he'd been practicing before.]

Oh...c'mon! I thought it was supposed to be easier!

IIb-1. Non-Spicy: OTA
[Well Elliot isn't one to turn down seeing a festival. He spends part of it browsing through the stalls in the shopping district, occasionally buying some flowers to add color to his room in the barracks. Along the way, he keeps trying to ignore the occasional wary glance at his red hair. What's more ominous than a new arrival? A new arrival with red hair like the sky! Or that's what the most superstitious of the town say. A few bold vendors even try to strongly suggest he put on a hat. ]

I'll...Um, thank you for the suggestion?

[Otherwise, you might find Elliot doing what he loves best: playing violin. It took selling off a few quartz, but he was finally able to find a decent used violin to use. So during most nights of the festival, he can be found on a street corner in the entertainment district, playing different songs on the violin. Most of them are unrecognizable, they're songs either from his homeworld or he wrote himself. But it's pretty clear he is extremely good. Even the wary townspeople can't help but stop and listen. Have a listen or chat with him while he's on break.]

IIb-2. Spicy 🌶: Closed to Male CR
[Even though Erebonia had magic, love potions weren't really a thing in his world. Just something you'd find in trashy romance novels. So when a fan of his violin playing had offered to buy him a spiced drink, he had figured it was something like spiced cider and didn't think twice to drink it when he finished with a set.

Fortunately for Elliot, it was a pretty mild dosage. It wouldn't make him fall in love with the next person he saw or remove his ability to think at least somewhat coherently. But...he did feel himself getting more flushed. His cheeks burned, and he absently undid the top buttons of his shirt as his eyes scanned the area for a familiar face. He was craving...something.]

[ The last bout of festivities had been much too sudden after their arrival that Allura is glad to take the opportunity now that she's a little more settled in. Still not exactly pleased with the situation, she accepts that a solution will have to come in due time with hard work and patience. (The latter being a little more difficult to fully accept.)

Allura casually sips on an offered spicy drink, pausing on her stroll when something catches her eye. Or rather, several somethings. ]

[ She is absolutely beelining towards the nearest flower stall. If you were already strolling with her, then you better catch up so you're not left behind. If you haven't met yet, she might just accidentally knock into you, short of barreling. Delicately barreling. ]

[ The greenery and flora has definitely been the highlight of this celebration for Allura. So the suggestion of a hedge maze? A cute idea, really. And if she gets truly lost, Allura just assumes she can bust her way through the plant walls. (Breaking down literal walls that get in her way is probably a bad habit to make, but it's worked in the past.)

She is decidedly on board. She's all smiles as she steps up to the entrance. If you start the maze as an assigned partner, she turns said smile to you. ]

[Is it any surprise that a stuffy guy like England is working when everyone is supposed to be partying? Probably not. Though his regular part-time hours at Ravenwood ended a few weeks ago, he does still occasionally get called on to do work around the docks.

So as ships prepare for their much-celebrated journeys, England can be found doing various tasks around the Harbour District: carrying cargo and prepping ships for departure, fixing up decorations that may have fallen or taken a beating, or setting up the confetti and fireworks that will go off when a ship leaves. He's dressed in far grubbier attire than he usually prefers, but he's strangely satisfied as he does his work.

It's even possible to catch him after he's paid a quick visit to the Shopping District, carrying an armful of small flower crowns when he thinks there are fewer eyes on him. He hands them out to the curious orphans of the Harbour District with a kind smile on his face.]


2♔ litha; low on the spicy scale

[When he's not on shift at the docks, he's dressed much more nicely, in a period-appropriate suit. After not being poisoned at Boaltinn, England is less wary of the food and drink of this festival. He doesn't overindulge by any means, but he only has to take a drink from the wrong tray once.

It's spiced very mildly--it's a nice offset to the base sweetness of the drink.

He's about halfway through the cup, ten minutes later, when he realises how hot his face feels. He stops completely, feeling his own flushed face with the back of his hand, and then staring down into the cup. A disapproving scowl grows on his face.] Oh, damn it all.

[Note: This prompt is not likely to veer into nsfw territory, but England will be more sociable and maybe even flirty as a result of the drink!]

[It's very stupid. England is a nation and so doesn't have a true love, and hopefully not a future spouse. There's absolutely no reason to stare into one of the wells like he might actually see something--in fact, he'd probably be more unhappy if he did find an unusual image in the reflection. He's not a fan of fate or destiny.

And yet here he is. Standing at this stupid well and contemplating how very stupid he is.

It's within this moment of self-hatred that someone with sentiment against the otherworlders grabs England to shove him into the well. Just as quickly, with an impressively angry shout, England's reflexes kick in and he transfers the momentum with a very violent throw. There's a splash as the culprit hits the water.

England breathes heavily for a few moments, staring at the well with some shock, and then:] Excuse me.

[And he books it away from the well. Nothing to see here!]


4♔ litha; language of flowers

[He doesn't need a bouquet or a rose. Frankly, he debates with himself over the flower crown activity. But he's quickly recognised from the gardening classes many of them have been attending, and before he knows it he's coaxed into one of the flower shops to participate.

Turns out, he's pretty good at making flower crowns. He churns them out quickly, though he often sets them aside or gives them to the employees instead of presenting them to someone he likes. He just enjoys making them, the expression on his face intent and meditative.

Should he see someone else having some trouble with their flower crown, though...]

[A: He reaches over to take a couple flowers and demonstrate the proper technique.] Ah, here, try it this way instead.

[B: If they look to be considering what flowers to use, he'll ask:] What sort of crown are you looking to make? I could make a few suggestions.

[C: Or, if someone just seems interested in the flowers but hasn't moved to make their own crown, he may just offer out a newly-completed crown of his own making, his expression slightly embarrassed.] You may have this one if you'd like.

That's how he realizes England is there, working through crown after crown with impressive efficiency. England has always been good with his hands, from sewing shirts to punching France, and America won't admit it, but he likes watching England work.

Until he and England lock eyes, of course, when America realizes he has to act like he was just passing by and definitely hadn't been watching for the last several minutes. He laughs louder than necessary.]

[Justine holds a rose close to her chest as she wanders down the many flower stands. It's like she's in a brightly colored garden only that everything is picked, gathered and yearning to be admired. She occasionally stops, reminded of a person when she sees a flower or lovely leaf but she's uncertain if she should buy anything.

What if it's a mistake?

Without intervention, Justine's gaze drops and her arm returns to her side as she moves on without purchasing anything. She wants too. There are so many wonderful people here, people she should trust, but something stops her. It's a deep hesitation and she doesn't fully understand the reason why.]

[She sips at the offered spice wine and quickly feels the drinks affects. It's pleasant and distracting. Justine finds herself getting more and more, until she's sitting on a bench breathing more heavily than she ought too.

Her cheeks are flushed, her cheat heaving with struggled breaths.]

Excuse me. [Her head rises, her dark haze eyes reflected in the soft light of a lantern sitting close to her side.] Do you have some water?

[She might have had too much to drink.]

iii. harbor fireworks

[She sits at a semi-secluded section of the docks with a lantern sitting next to her. The soft light illuminated her features and gave away her poorly placed hiding spot but then maybe she isn't hiding.

The ships begin to disembark and she looks to the sky, waiting for the fireworks to begin.

Justine turns at the sounds of footfalls behind her.] Join me. I think they're going to start soon. [She doesn't care who it is because fireworks are one of those things where you can be surrounded by a sea of faces but feel utterly alone. The experience could be shared with someone else but it doesn't have to be and it's just as amazing.

Like flaming flowers in the sky, momentarily beautiful and breathtaking.]

I love fireworks.

iv. hedge-maze

[Justine stands at the entrance of the hedge maze dressed in something she can run in. There are runes sewn into the black fabric with black thread and then only glimmer silver when she lightly runs the pad of her finger over the pattern, willing a tiny bit of magic into the spell.

Her dark haze eyes glimmer in the light of the moon as she turns towards her monster companion.]

All you have to do is catch me.

[She runs her fingers across her bodice, looking entirely sexual and inappropriate as she activated the rune there.] I get a five minutes head start. [The rune she'd just activated masks her scent and the one on her hip makes her silent while the last one increases her speed. She isn't planning to make this easy for anyone.

Where is the fun in that?]

Hank isn't exactly surprised by how they were being treated by the natives, and honestly, he couldn't really blame them. While he had accepted the help from the few that were still willing to talk to them at this time, it meant he was now carrying a lantern that was giving off bluish light to offset the red.

He'd been trying to light up his thumb nearly all night. Having heard the witches of the coven saying that this was the night that their more powerful spells, he wondered if something was wrong with him when not even a little flame was erupting.

"Fuck...did I mess up somewhere?"

He can be found over the city, but for obvious reasons making his way to the harbor...

During the entire event, you'd be hard-pressed to find Hank without a crown of flowers that someone had placed on his head and maybe a bottle that made him a little more approachable than before.

Just don't try to give him more flowers, even grumpy old men had their limit, after all.

After the shit with his fire fingers not working well, Hank was more than happy to buy a scented candle that came with nearly-free lighter. Out of spite with himself he activated it a few times before lighting the candle.

He's not sure why the shopkeepers took one good look at him and decided ' ahh yes, this is the type of man that needs future partners' but by the time he had made his way out of the flower shops in the district, he was walking with a colorful bouquet of flowers.

"Fuck," he said to no one in particular, "Why me?"

Hank remembered going to corn mazes with his father when he was a child. That had quickly stopped as the android production in Detroit had started in earnest, and farm land was getting rarer and rarer to the point a lot of it was put on rooftops. It was defiantly nostalgic to see them around the district and eventually his curiosity wins out on his dubious nature.

Once he gets in, being told that his partner would come from another end and they'd find each other, he sticks to the rules he remembers being told years ago.

"Stick to the right and keep going until you find the exit."

But would that even work in a magical maze? Only one way to find out...

While he's a bit of a quiet, antisocial man who hasn't quite yet made the habit to reach out to any others (except for the one face he recognised), Nicolas finds himself now sitting among one of the many flower shops within the city.

He's from a city of metal and steel--smoke, stone, and blood--flowers and plant life were a rarity often reserved for those with a lot of money--or a lot of time on their hands to care for indoor potted plants.

Nic, a handyman, was neither rich nor idle. So flowers were... a rare sight for him. While he has absolutely no plans on giving away bouquets or flowers to anyone, when he catches a group of girls making these odd... hats? Circlets? Out of flowers, he can't help but to think of Nina. Someone back home, who would probably flip her lid in glee if he were to place one on her head without context.

...Which is why Nic finds himself--this short, stocky, mercenary of a man with a sword at his side--sitting at one of the tables outside a flower shop: putting together a flower crown.

Or at least, he's trying.
He's got big, clumsy hands that aren't suited for detail work, and he keeps pulling petals out of the flowers he's working with--or tearing stems instead of tying them properly.

[It's been something of a weird day for Riku. His spells are working right, lacking the normal power behind them despite his focus and intent. Beyond that, he's just been feeling restless, edgy. He thought his daily jog around the Coven would help, but it hasn't helped, and he's even snapped in frustration at the lack of his spells working properly.

The idea of a fight ring in a hedge maze sounds like a godsend right about now. It takes Riku a little while to get to the center and find the ring, but once he's there, the boy is eager to go.]

Anyone up for a little sparring?

[He's scanning the area as he stretches. Sure, he's probably at a disadvantage without his spells, but he's ready and raring to go.]

i - a} a-hunting we will go

[The impromptu fight club in the first maze was enough to satisfy his itch for a little while, but Riku finds himself wandering to a different one after a while. Again, it seems to be aimed towards monsters, but Riku's fine taking on a different role.

The idea of hunting a poor animal makes him turn up his nose, but going for another run? Why not? He easily volunteers himself for the next monster that comes, standing by the entrance to the maze.]

Ready? Promise I won't make this easy.

ii - b} I'm wishing for the one I love

[Flower crowns... if Kairi saw him actually contemplating this, no doubt she would tease the hell out of him.

But here Riku is, actually taking a seat in a far corner in the biggest flower shop he could find. Utilizing ivy as a base, he easily weaves a variety of bright and different coloured flowers through the stems. Wide white daisies, bright yellow sunflower petals, small pink roses and sky blue tulips adorn the whole crown.

It's not meant for anyone in particular. At least no one here anyways. But Riku is still trying to take care in crafting the crown, thinking that it would be nice to give something like this to one of his best friends...]

ii - c} get lost with me

[Funny how just a few days ago, Riku seemed to have no problem delving into mazes full of monsters and fights.

But during this festival, he feels a little different, standing off to the side of the maze in nervousness. Sure, he was spending time with monsters before, but the emphasis on partners going into this maze and finding each other feels far more different to him.

It makes him awkward and nervous, wanting to shy away from others. Bonds seem to be so important here, but it feels and sounds more intimate to him than perhaps it is to others. What if he isn't a good partner? What if he messes up again?

Riku is so lost in his own twisting emotions that he isn't really paying attention to his own surroundings. Should someone need a partner, feel free to grab his arm and drag him into the fun.]

[ Percy's been avoiding...well, a lot of things, really. Unsure what to make of his new predicament and trying his hardest not to think about what he's left behind. Considering he doesn't actually have all that much to do at the moment, all that avoidance has taken some serious work, thank you.

It's imagining what some of the others might say about his brooding that finally gets him out to have a look at this festival he keeps hearing about. The bright, happy mentions of finding love nearly send him immediately skittering away again, at least until something a bit more unexpected catches his eye.

Which is why Percy can be found sitting cross-legged on the ground, out of the way of direct traffic, and weaving together surprisingly intricate flower crowns. It's nice to have something else to focus on for a little while, and the dexterous work is easy enough. He's got a small pile at this point, increasingly elaborate designs sitting quietly next to him.

At least until he glances up to find someone looking in his direction. He offers a small, wry smile at his own ridiculousness, but doesn't stop weaving. ]

He's all set to head on in until they tell him he needs a partner. The sigh he gives in response is just a touch overdramatic, but he glances over at someone else lingering nearby. ]

I don't suppose you're going in. Together? [ There's the briefest pause, and then: ] or you can track me, if you like.

[ He's not as stealthy as some others, perhaps, but Percy does have some experience. Honestly, either option is brighting a slightly excited gleam to his eyes. A puzzle to solve. ]

In this way, Ursula could set aside her apprehension about the whole idea of brothels and accept any offered drinks without any fuss and enjoy their company.

Flowers in her hair, flowers decorating her dress, flower stems in her cup that she's still drinking from happily. Honestly it's probably rare to see Ursula in such a good mood in general. One could probably blame the wine, but...

She's found herself a place to settle down for the moment, and rather than just let the space spin around her, she's focusing herself and turning all of the flowers she's gathered into flower crowns, making them one after another, placing... all of them on her head. Each one. Just one after another.

She realizes this attracts some attention, and gives a sheepish giggle. ] Did you want one?

THE FULL MOON

★SHEDDING YOUR SUMMER SKIN (AT SUNSET)

Steven wakes up on the morning of the full moon, feeling strange. He's itchy all over, and his skin feels tight and dry. His back is sore, and his spine is stiff. He tries taking a shower, but it doesn't really help. He feels weirdly defensive, too, like he's extra vulnerable today and a threat could be around the corner.

So, he finds somewhere private in the Haven, a space that nobody has claimed. He huddles up alone and spends the afternoon falling into a stupor, the hazy warmth leading him into an equally foggy sleep. His skin, even the stuff that hasn't been growing into a carapace over the past month, has gotten thick enough that it would make it hard to move, if he even felt like trying. It's not until the moons first rise that he comes back to himself, feeling as if he's been wrapped in thick, heavy blankets.

It's then that he realizes he's stuck, and it takes a weirdly long time to get free. When he finally does, it's in the form of erupting out of the dried husk of his old flesh, clean new carapace and something slick and thin running down his back. He pushes the skin away, his eyes blazing with chaotic magical energy as a fresh set of wings spread out behind him.

And all he can think of in that moment is that this... this is awesome. He has to show everyone and see what they do.

It's in that state that you may find Steven on the streets, casually nude and shining with shifting rainbow light. He's in the air, several feet up, his wings fluttering in hypnotic patterns. Also notably, he's holding the weirdly glittery and crystalline skin he just crawled out of, still roughly shaped like him but hollow, complete with white, husky hair.

"Look at THIS!" he says, showing you his discarded skin like it's the best thing he's ever made. Thankfully, it doesn't look much like human skin anymore - more like the shorn carapace of an insect. That's still not great, though.

★A-HUNTING WE WILL GO! (ALL NIGHT)

After ostensibly having clothed himself, but no less buggy, Steven finds himself drawn towards the hedge mazes where they are trying to put the excitable new monsters through their paces. He feels all about that right now. In fact, he has a really great idea!

"Okay!" he declares to anyone looking to go in, or perhaps considering a regular animal to go after. He fluttering over to you on radiant mantis wings, buzzing excitedly. "Try to catch me! I bet you can't! I promise I'll stay in the maze and everything!"

Because he could just fly away, he realizes, but something seems to compel him to lay down ground rules in the propositions he makes. There's no real prize for winning, but... maybe they should be?

...Nah, for now the challenge will do. He beams at you excitedly. He's dressed in some kind of weirdly glittery and non-period appropriate looking outfit (though if you have anti-illusion sight you'll notice he's basically just wearing underpants, and the clothing is an illusion.) Otherwise, he just looks like a super giddy child, wanting you to indulge him.

It can't hurt, right?
