[ This isn't the first time there's been something going on with the sheep, right? Well the first time Vanitas hadn't been all that interested. Honestly he's not all that interested this time either. However, the reports of sheep with fangs has sort of piqued his interested. The only reason that Vanitas is there is to poke some fun at people. He has no intention of actually helping. So that's what he does. He'll see someone intimidated by one of the wooly beasts and then he jeers. Vanitas mocks and teases. Because that is the sort of person that he is. Who could possibly be afraid of these things?

Of course the tables turn a little, don't they? While Vanitas doesn't help anyone out - not one bit - he seems to have his own following of sheep after some time. They eventually block Vanitas in and he shoves at them. He's not nervous about their forward attitude. ]

Go away! [ Oh they aren't budging. ] Come on! Get lost!

[ The sheep aren't going anywhere. In the process of Vanitas trying to get them to go away, one licks his cheek instead. ]

Augh! Gross!

[ He might have forgotten about the fact that animals like his aura, okay? ]


( Berry Picking )

[ Seems like all of the bakeries are wanting these iunerberries. It feels like pretty tedious work, so Vanitas doesn't really take any interest in it at all. However, when one of the shops is offering double? That is when he takes notice. How hard can it be to pick some berries and get some money for it, after all?

Hence he is out in the fields, with what feels like a bunch of people. Vanitas' basket is coming along fairly well, but he is trying to keep to himself. There are a few people that Van can get on okay with, but for the most part groups still annoy him.

Come bother him? All he's doing is plucking berries. One in particular catches his eye. Just what do these iunerberries taste like? ]


( Candle Crafts )

[ After Irhya drags him to this activity the first time, Vanitas will stop by now and then. How many people have told him that he needs to find a hobby? Thancred sure seems to have been encouraging it. Vanitas would prefer to do something other than create candles for a holiday that he knows nothing about nor cares to but whatever.

He doesn't take to carving anything or designing. Vanitas is pretty content with just the pouring aspect. The staff teaching those that are wanting to learn are used to this, but are trying to coerce Van into learning how to design as well.

The look on his face is one of disgust. ]


( Silent Forest )

[ Vanitas is going to be going out each and every time an infusion is requested. Each and every time he's going to say this: ]

I don't need any help. I'm perfectly capable of protecting myself. Go find someone else.

[ At least that's what his response is to anyone that approaches him. Yet in the end that isn't going to work, is it? In the end someone is going to be stubborn enough to work through his prickly exterior and come along with him, huh? Thus here he is, in the company of someone that he never asked for, walking through the forest. ]

The leyline should be somewhere around here. Let's just get this done and go.

I wanted to have a reason to talk with you. There's... some things I wanted to say.

[ Ah... Now we well and truly get to the truth of it. Why is Vanitas somehow put on edge by this? ]

So you waited until you could ambush me in order to do so?

[lightblooming]

You consider this an ambush?

( So dramatic.... This is the same way she'd approach Ven or Sora. )

[darkcharge]

Something to that effect, yes.

[ Yes he is dramatic. Though it is like Aqua had been lying in wait. Just looking for the opportunity... ]

[lightblooming]

... Vanitas, I just wanted to say thank you.

( Somehow, she doesn't think she'll ever truly gain Vanitas's trust. But... that may very well be mutual. )

[darkcharge]

Thank me?

[ Well that doesn't sound right at all now does it? ]

I didn't do anything.

[ Not for her at any rate? ]

[lightblooming]

You have, though.

Sora told me that you've been looking out for him.

( Her friends are so important to her. How could she not thank him for that? )q

[darkcharge]

[ Van had popped a berry into his mouth the moment Aqua starts talking. Then she says that and he almost chokes on it. Instead he just coughs for a moment and looks at her with slightly watery eyes from it. ]

What.

[lightblooming]

( Aqua's eyes widen in concern, rising slightly in order to help - but, she quickly calms down when she notices that he's fine. )

Sora says you've been a good friend to him. ... And Roxas, too.

[darkcharge]

[ Sora and Roxas don't need to go and run their mouths... It's likely the main culprit here is Sora. However Aqua does have one thing wrong here. ]

We're not friends.

[ Not anywhere close. ]

[lightblooming]

No? Sora considers you a good friend, it seems like.

( He seems to value Vanitas a lot... She knows he wouldn't do that for no reason. )

[darkcharge]

[ Again she's... off the mark on that. But if Sora hasn't said anything... ]

He's my bondmate. I think he's required to think that.

[lightblooming]

That's not how it works. Bondmates can be friends, acquaintances, families, lovers - there's no defined relationship for something like this.

[darkcharge]

[ It's definitely one of those things, Aqua. However, it's also not really Van's place to say. ]

I'm aware of that. However, Sora isn't really capable of having too many negative opinions about anyone.

[lightblooming]

I don't think that's true. There are some enemies even Sora won't forgive.

( She means Xehanort. )

[darkcharge]

Mmm. No. I don't agree with that. Maybe he won't forgive them completely, but he will still give them a chance.

[ Even Xehanort, Vanitas thinks. ]

[lightblooming]

Even if that's true, Sora believes in you. .... We both do.

( Aqua pauses before she speaks once more. She... doesn't know how Vanitas is going to react to what she says next. )

Vanitas, you have more goodness than you think you do.

[darkcharge]

[ Now Vanitas has every intention on just going back in berry picking. People believing in him at this point isn't really anything new. The fact that Aqua now seems to fit in there might be something of a surprise... But even she had been wanting to get to know Vanits better. Understand him.

But then he freezes at the mention of "good." ]

...That doesn't make me a good person.

[ So what. He can do a few "good" things here and there. However those are reserved for selected individuals. ]

[lightblooming]

Vanitas, you've been doing things for the sake of others. That doesn't make you a bad person, either.

( She knows that there's more to being a good person than what she's saying - but... he's done more good than bad since they first arrived here. )

[darkcharge]

For the sake of select others. Only people that I think are worth my time.

[ So it's not exactly altruistic. Not as good as what Aqua is making him sound like. Sure, he has done some pretty decent things. However that's not because he saw someone and just decided to help them.

Vanitas still only cares about certain things. Certain people. ]

[lightblooming]

Well... I don't think that you would take the time to help them if you didn't care about them in some way.

( He really has no reason use others here like he did at home... Could he be mistaking his emotions as concern? As friendship? It's difficult to tell with Vanitas. )

[darkcharge]

[ At this point he knows that he cares. That these people actually matter to him. ]

What's mine is mine.

[ And that's all there is to it. ]

( That's... a rather peculiar thing to say about people who supposedly aren't his friends. )

Yes. And what is mine shouldn't be messed with unless it is I that is doing it.

[ Again. Super simple. ]

... That's a peculiar way to say that you care about them.
