[ This isn't the first time there's been something going on with the sheep, right? Well the first time Vanitas hadn't been all that interested. Honestly he's not all that interested this time either. However, the reports of sheep with fangs has sort of piqued his interested. The only reason that Vanitas is there is to poke some fun at people. He has no intention of actually helping. So that's what he does. He'll see someone intimidated by one of the wooly beasts and then he jeers. Vanitas mocks and teases. Because that is the sort of person that he is. Who could possibly be afraid of these things?

Of course the tables turn a little, don't they? While Vanitas doesn't help anyone out - not one bit - he seems to have his own following of sheep after some time. They eventually block Vanitas in and he shoves at them. He's not nervous about their forward attitude. ]

Go away! [ Oh they aren't budging. ] Come on! Get lost!

[ The sheep aren't going anywhere. In the process of Vanitas trying to get them to go away, one licks his cheek instead. ]

Augh! Gross!

[ He might have forgotten about the fact that animals like his aura, okay? ]


( Berry Picking )

[ Seems like all of the bakeries are wanting these iunerberries. It feels like pretty tedious work, so Vanitas doesn't really take any interest in it at all. However, when one of the shops is offering double? That is when he takes notice. How hard can it be to pick some berries and get some money for it, after all?

Hence he is out in the fields, with what feels like a bunch of people. Vanitas' basket is coming along fairly well, but he is trying to keep to himself. There are a few people that Van can get on okay with, but for the most part groups still annoy him.

Come bother him? All he's doing is plucking berries. One in particular catches his eye. Just what do these iunerberries taste like? ]


( Candle Crafts )

[ After Irhya drags him to this activity the first time, Vanitas will stop by now and then. How many people have told him that he needs to find a hobby? Thancred sure seems to have been encouraging it. Vanitas would prefer to do something other than create candles for a holiday that he knows nothing about nor cares to but whatever.

He doesn't take to carving anything or designing. Vanitas is pretty content with just the pouring aspect. The staff teaching those that are wanting to learn are used to this, but are trying to coerce Van into learning how to design as well.

The look on his face is one of disgust. ]


( Silent Forest )

[ Vanitas is going to be going out each and every time an infusion is requested. Each and every time he's going to say this: ]

I don't need any help. I'm perfectly capable of protecting myself. Go find someone else.

[ At least that's what his response is to anyone that approaches him. Yet in the end that isn't going to work, is it? In the end someone is going to be stubborn enough to work through his prickly exterior and come along with him, huh? Thus here he is, in the company of someone that he never asked for, walking through the forest. ]

The leyline should be somewhere around here. Let's just get this done and go.

Why not keep some of what you already have? It's easier that way isn't it?

[ Why go out and pick again? Seems pretty time consuming... Or maybe Mira really does what those cunes? ]

Anyway, no. I really haven't bothered to look up anything about the holiday.

Tempting but this does count towards work.

[And the money is decent so she wants to try her best. Can't go wrong with that.]

Hmm, the only thing I heard about it is that it involves love or something like it. Nothing much on what to do when it comes.

[ That's fair, really. Though Vanitas does wonder if they'll be able to come out later just for themselves. ]

Didn't we already have one with a similar theme?

[ At least it feels that way, somehow. Or maybe things are just starting to blur together for a moment. Yet if it involves love... Van groans and rubs at his neck. ]

Sora's going to want to go.

If I'm honest, the festivals seem to blur together for me. I've started to lose the desire to go to any in the future, especially ones like this.

[She pauses for a second. Wait, that's new.]

But would you like to go with him?

Understandable, I suppose. It isn't as if I really wanted to go to any of them in the first place.

[ However it has always been a combination of curiosity and people dragging him out or expecting to see him there that gets Van to go. Litha with probably be no different in this regard. Yet the connection between Sora and Van will make this one a little different... ]

So I don't know if I want to or not. He will want to, though, and that's what's going to matter.

[Perhaps it's due to her recent looking inwards matters that something about what he says about himself that makes her stop and feel a little tense. Only what matters to Sora and not himself? And he knows why Mira's been feeling like utter trash for the past moon and a half so how could she not?

It's probably different but can one blame her for going in that thought direction?]

Your feelings matter too. It's nice that you would want to do that for him but will it be fun if one of you isn't?

[ And Vanitas, of course, immediately senses her mild distress. He plays what he had said over in his head, just to see how it might of come across. ]

That's not what I meant. I'm saying he'll want to go because he's a sap like that. And because...

[ He can't look Mira in the eye. Nope. Van looks away while his ears burn. ]

Because he'll want to go out on a date.

[She sighs in relief. Mainly because oh thank the Abyss that it wasn't what she thought it would be and because of more mundane reasoning. Or harmless.]

Then I'll ask again: is it something you want to do? Because if that is so, mayhap asking him may not be a bad idea.

[ Oh... He hadn't even considered... ]

I can ask him to go before he asks first?

[Lucky she knows what a date is otherwise she'd be lost. Mira's far from an expert and still learning the ropes but a lot just feels like one needs to be comfortable during it all.]

I have not heard of a rule where one person is the designated 'asker'. But if it is something you wish to do with him, give it a try.

[Who knows, Sora might be surprised.]

[ He's not paying any attention to the berries at all. Nope. His focus is on the conversation. Van starts to rub at some of the leaves on the berry bushes idly as he is lost in thought. ]

I don't know either. It's not like I know what I am doing with all this...

[ Though to catch Sora off guard is kind of a treat. ]

If he's there it wouldn't really be a problem going. [ The fact that Mira would have a similar soothing affect shouldn't have to be said. ] I think he'd also like if I asked him instead of him always tugging me around places.

[He understands it. That one person doing all the work is never a good sign and might hurt in the long run. Not only that but he figured it out on his own; Vani's getting better at this emotion bit, isn't he?]

Sounds like you've already made your decision.

[Fuck going to that herself, personally. But she will support her son in having fun himself.]

[ Van has always been a quick study. However there are a lot of things about emotions and social interactions that he just can't wrap his head around. Nor does he actually want to, really.

But this... Well it's okay to do things for others every once and a while. ]

Yeah, guess I have. I just hope it isn't lame.

[ A head pat that he can't quite help but lean into. Head pats are... Nice. ]

[Popping in another berry because she is getting hungry a bit. Don't judge her.]

[ There's no judgement here. Instead Vanitas frowns at the plant. ]

Do these things smell strange or is that just me?

There's a slight odor coming off of the leaves. That's all.

[ And now he can smell it on his fingers. ]

[Hmm. She bends over to sniff a leaf to be sure.]

Well, it's not rot at least. Curious about it, huh.

Aren't you? Things that give off odd scents usually have a reason...

[Asking a Warrior about a weird smell when they have picked up poop a lot of times. Or the fact that they did have habits of sticking things in their mouth for the longest time.]

Maybe they're supposed to smell like that?

Probably... But I'm feeling a little light-headed.

[ Just a little though. However he doesn't quite put two and two together here. ]

Oh shite. Let's get you seated somewhere. It wouldn't do any good if you were to take a fall here.
