[When Lavi first heard about these bees, he thought he can handle it himself.

That’s a mistake.

It also doesn’t help that they won’t let him wander out too far without a witch by his side. So, Lavi ends up reaching out to the one other person he knows who is a witch. Which does lead them to where they were supposed to be, being given protective gear because…yes….

The bees do sting.

Not to mention that there are some animals who seem rather interested in the bees themselves—or at least their hives.

So, Lavi turns to Yona.]

[ Yona is dressed in the strange protective gear and trying to adjust it to be more comfortable - not to mention the strange sort of veil they'd draped from her hat. She has her bow with her, but she honestly has no idea how she's supposed to draw it while wearing something like this.

Still, when Lavi turns to her with that question, she offers him a hopeful smile, not wanting to let on that she's feeling more than a little out of her element here. ]

I think so! I've never done this before, though, so... what do you need me to do?

Basically, we just need to protect the hives.

[He nods to where all the hives are being kept.]

The guys in charge said that they've been having predators like bears and such lurking around trying to get to them.

[darkestbefore]

Ahh, I see...

[ Yona nods very seriously and surveys the area around where they are, as if checking to make sure there are no predators already sneaking close. ]

Well, bears do like honey, so that makes sense. Although if they're creeping in from the Wilde, they might be more dangerous than just mere bears.

[lostinshadows]

[He nods.]

That's what the beekeepers warned, too.

[Lavi looks over at her arrows.]

How skilled are you with that bow?

[darkestbefore]

[ She holds it up and then shrugs. ]

Certainly not as skilled as the person who trained me, but I've become a fairly good shot. Enough to handle myself if there's danger. You don't have to worry about me.

[lostinshadows]

[He nods.]

Better than me. All I got are a few knives.

[darkestbefore]

[ Her eyes widen at that. ]

Throwing knives?

[ She hopes he doesn't mean to fight bears up close and personal with them! ]

[lostinshadows]

...No.

[He was definitely thinking of going up and personal with them.]

Probably should've purchased some throwing knives though.

[Might've helped him more, but he's not too worried.]

[ She stops short and just looks at him in disbelief. ]

You came out here to fight bears with a few knives?! Lavi!

[lostinshadows]

It's fine, it's fine!

[He waves it off.]

I'm hoping more that traps would be able to prove useful against them.

[Hopefully. Maybe. It'll be fine.]

[darkestbefore]

[ That gives her pause as she narrows her gaze at him. ]

...traps? What did you have in mind?

Trip wires and pitfalls.

[Standard traps, but...]

We just need to keep them incapacitated, not kill them. Mostly traps to ward them away from here and not get close.

[He does a quick survey of the area.]

There are plenty of places to do that as long as we're careful and don't disturb the hive too much.

[ She relaxes again as she understands what he means to do. ]

So you mean to protect the place and ward the beasts away, rather than get rid of them outright... Will that work on the infected ones too?

[lostinshadows]

[He nods.]

That's the plan, but I don't know how effective it'll be on the infected ones.

[darkestbefore]

Are they so much more dangerous than normal? Or smarter?

[ She hasn't had a lot of experience with infected beasts yet. ]

They're far more dangerous.

[He's only had a few run-ins with them...]

You never know what you can expect from them at first.

[darkestbefore]

[ She frowns, thinking that over. ]

That means they're probably also more dangerous for the farmers and their bees. What can we do to make sure they're protected?

[lostinshadows]

One best way is to redirect the infected before they get too close to this place.

[His brow furrows a bit.]

Since you're the one with the arrow, you'd actually be the best on being the offensive and may be able to spot something others wouldn't be able to.

Should I maybe go scout the edges of the farmland?

[ Is that too dangerous? But it sounds like something Hak would suggest, so maybe...? ]

[lostinshadows]

[...Blink.

Then he just kind of looks at her.]

You'd be okay if you went?

[He's not going to stop her. On the other hand, he also doesn't know just how durable she can be to scout the farmland on her own.]

Of course!

[ Maybe?

Was that answered a bit too brightly and quickly? Maybe that's just his imagination.

She gives him a bright smile, holding up her bow. ]

I'll be fine. I'm a very good shot.

[lostinshadows]

[That's a little too quick.

Lavi is torn.

But in the end:]

I'll leave it to you then, Yona.

[ She gives him a playful salute and turns to march off towards the border of the farm. ]

Try not to get into any touble while I'm gone, Lavi!

[ Because you seem like the sort. ...says the person also likely to get into trouble. ]

I can say the same about you!

[She's going to get into trouble, isn't she?

Lavi just makes a face but goes to make sure the traps are properly laid out.

Hopefully Yona doesn't end up running into one of those monsters on her own.]
