Open - Monthly Catchall
Who: Hector, semi-open
When: The month of Maiuril
Where: Around the city
What: A Monthly Catch-All post for Hector.
Warnings: Potential for language, full-moon shenanigans, and descriptions of violence
Egg-Sitting, Early Maiuril
[Working so closely with another Mirrorbound for weeks is not ideal, but when the reward is an exciting new animal, Hector’s willing to endure it. Yes, there’s equal chance of it being an angry snake-creature, but that’s not a deal-breaker. He is going to love whatever comes out of the egg.]
So, if we divide our time equally, it shouldn’t be too much to handle. I can take the first shift.
Wilde Hunt, Maiuril 7th
[Well, Hector’s starting to look for a witch to bond with, but he’s still unbonded for the moment. He can almost feel the buzz of the energy from the full moons in his skull. So Hector joins the hunt, against all instinct.
He isn’t hunting, but his prey-animal paranoia is increasingly aware that he might be hunted. So he is running through the woods, panicked and regretting his decision to come out of here. He doesn’t mean to happen onto another person, but when he does, he comes to a halt. Sheep aren’t meant to be alone. They flock together and find safety in numbers.]
Wild Card, Any time
[Have an idea for another prompt? Let me know!]

[ He says with a glance around, lost in thought for a moment as he tries to go over what options he can. Doesn't help that he doesn't really KNOW what this monster is?? At least nothing he's personally come across or heard of existing back where they're from. ]
But if she's not a demon and still some hellish bastard, anything holy usually works. Otherwise I would say to break her bones. Knock them off.
no subject
But when has life ever been that easy?]
I had hoped there was some other way. She's got a lot of bones.
[The axe, he's got stashed away just inside the doorway. He opens the door and picks it up.]
's why I thought it was time to learn how to use this properly. I didn't think you'd show up right away.
no subject
Why wouldn't I show up? What else did you think I was doing at this hour?
[ Surely not sleeping. IT'S NIGHTTIME. ]
Look. If you want me to teach you how to use that, I can. But you need to keep at it. Practice makes perfect and all that bullshit.
no subject
Dunno. It's like your daytime. Figured you'd be lurking in trees or deal with your bonded or something.
[He wasn't expecting Trevor Belmont to be bored. How naive of him, that he'd felt touched that Trevor had come so quickly.]
Right. I...that makes sense. I'll do it. I have a home now, and I need to be able to protect it.
no subject
[ That would be way uncomfortable for him. ]
A home and an Everett.
[ JUST GOING TO GENTLY CALL YOU OUT AGAIN, HECTOR. With a bit of a quirked brow. ]
So... right now then? To teach you I mean.
no subject
YES, the point is, I need to be strong enough to protect what I have.
[It's outrageously stressful, finally having someone and knowing he could lose him. Hector doesn't know how Trevor deals with three people. That's just outrageous.
Hector hefts up the axe, staggers under the weight, and spreads his hooves to re-balance.]
So yeah. Show me.
no subject
Alright. Give me that axe and come with me.
no subject
He hands over the axe.]
Where are we going? We shouldn't stray too far.
[He doesn't think Adelheid the centaur will be coming back tonight, but that doesn't mean he's going to take risks.]
no subject
[ Which aren't exactly that far from the house so like, RELAX?? Plus you've got a vampire hunter who is a vampire to protect you with his big strong muscles and all. You're fine, Hector. ]
Here. [ As he points to a thick sucker ahead of them. ] That'll be our target, ok?
no subject
So is this the secret of the great Belmont clan? Chopping firewood.
[He can do this. Banter with Belmont, pretend like this is any other night...where he almost died.... It's fine.]
no subject
No. I want to see how you throw.
[ And with saying that comes the demonstration of him not only tossing the axe up and catching it so nonchalantly by the handle, but the quick and powerful way in which he whips the weapon at the tree where it hits the bark with a resounding thump. ]
Like that. Just... don't try to catch it first.
[ And he goes to fetch the axe for Hector and hand it back over to him. ]
no subject
It's a throwing axe?
[Hector...knows forging tools. Weapons of war, less so. He takes the axe and raises it, trying to get a feel for the weight to throw.
He's not weak. Hector has muscles from using his hammer for long hours back in his lab. But one thing he hasn't honed is his aim. Why would he? When he does have to resort to using a material weapon, he keeps it firmly in his hands.
He gives it a throw. The axe makes it a few wobbly feet before it thuds to the ground.]
So...maybe I should stick with the hammer....
no subject
[ As he gestures to the poor display of Hector's lack of throwing skill. But... ok. So much for that?? Sauntering over to the axe, he picks it up off the ground and makes his way back to Hector. ]
Ok. If you're going to hit something and you're up close and personal like this [ because he's, you know, standing right there up in Hector's space ] hit here, here, here, and here.
[ With each here he gives, he taps the end of the axe at a certain point or "weak spot" on Hector which mostly consists of joints and points. ]
Anything to the back of the knees will make anything or anyone buckle over regardless. Unless it's a giant stick person. Here [ he taps at Hector's adam's apple ] is also good because any fucking one will stumble back from a throat punch. Don't have to use your hand, the back of a weapon hurts just as much if not more.
[ Tilting his head, he lets his gaze wander then. ]
And if all else fails and you're not dealing with a pile of bones, a kick in the dick for any guy just about does it.
no subject
[Although that's the least of his concerns, really. If shit really gets bad, he wants someone else, stronger than himself, on his side. He used to have demon friends for that.
Trevor grabs the axe and comes back to him for his little demonstration. It's a testament to the weird, instinctive trust he puts in Trevor that having him so close and reaching for weak points doesn't send Hector into a panic.]
Ok, yeah, that's basic anatomy.
[He knows how bodies fit together. It's not so hard, when he thinks about it, to know where best to bring a body apart.]
So Belmonts fight dirty. How many vampires have you kicked in the dick?
no subject
[ To which he just sort of twirls the axe around in his hand, staring to the ex-forgemaster. ]
You want me to hang around here until the sun comes up? In case she decides to come back?
no subject
[Hector hates how hopeful his voice sounds to his own ears. Trevor usually comes and goes quickly, on to other things. Yeah, he wants Trevor to stay, but he didn't think that was an option.]
I, uh, must be worse off than I thought with fighting.
no subject
[ He's mostly teasing since, despite his being a vampire, he's still a Belmont and he's not about to leave someone who is clearly terrified with the possibility of a monster coming back around. ]
no subject
Lucky for you, this is the house of a proper faun. There's no shortage of drinks. Go meet me in the garden. I'll bring you something out.
[Usually, he'd invite Trevor in, but Everett's sleeping and with the scare their last guest gave them, Hector doesn't want to subject him to any more shocks.
He finds one of the little wooden barrels that wasn't cracked open at Everett's last party and rolls it out of the door. It's the only drink he's going to be able to offer tonight, but Trevor likes beer more than basically everything, so it should be fine.]
no subject
It's only when he hears Hector rolling something on over that he lets himself slip out of those thoughts and stares to the barrel that he's got rolling there. ]
That'll do. Thanks.
[ A beat. ]
Don't worry. I don't get drunk on a job. Not really anyways. My tolerance is a lot higher now as a vampire.
[ SADLY. ]
no subject
You know what you're doing.
[He rolls the barrel over, and pulls a cup out of his sash to hand over to Trevor.]
This is the least I could do. So...thank you.
no subject
'welcome.
[ He smiles a bit to Hector before he goes to set the cup down beside him on the bench, the Morning Star whip clipped at his belt, Trevor taking out a pair of gloves to slide them on. Just in case. ]
I'll keep watch until the sun starts to rise. So you can rest easy knowing that I'm out here.
no subject
...but Trevor's confirmation that he'll stay here still feels like a blanket being thrown over him after a chill.]
Make sure you're home before sunrise. Wouldn't want you getting sunburned.
no subject
I'll be fine. Go get some rest.
