Catchall for May
Who: Allura and others! Open prompt available to all! (4th wall included!)
When: All of May
Where: Mostly Aefenglom, but some are elsewhere
What: Quests and some other stuff for May
Warnings: None
[Sparring is something she's been working on for some time. After coming through the mirror and finding herself with only a fraction of the physical strength that she had from back home, it was important to her to keep up with her training. (Ancients forbid the humans outpace her more than they have already)
Having a Galra soldier randomly come out of her mirror only made her work twice as hard. This one was a friend (she trusted Lance's word) but the next one might not be.
Having found an empty patch of grass, Allura has a staff in hand and is going through the motions of an imaginary fight. Her style is refined, bearing the hallmarks of someone formally trained without a large amount of practical use. But she's working hard, working up a light sweat when she notices someone nearby. Maybe they're openly watching or just sneaking a peak, but she'll call them out all the same,]
Is there something I can help you with?
[((ooc: This is the open prompt! Closed quest logs in the comments below. More will probably be added throughout the month. Always up for wildcards or you can shoot me a message to plot something else! I'm moving this month so I might be a little on the slow side.))]

well let's speed it up
Ah.
[ Shoot. There's a noise as the suckers pop off the egg and the tentacles brush against Allura's wrist and hand as they draw back. ]
There. [ And while he's got her by the food; ] Is there anything else you want?
[ He's currently letting meat simmer with onions and some broth, working his way through assorted other vegetables to be added to the mix soon enough. ]
BRIEF SPEED
(It feels a little ridiculous, but she's leaning into those mothering instincts here.]
What are you making? [Said not unlike a child unfamiliar with whatever their mother is cooking on the stove. She's been getting used to the cooking on this planet, but she doesn't know if Steak is a skilled cook. Then again, he is a food soul.]
no subject
I thought about making a casserole, but it would take too long. We're having beef and vegetables with rice. [ Which is boiling away at the back of the stove. ]
no subject
Beef. [Said with a hum and she looks at him.] What is that like?
[Food soul, meet the girl who is very newly introduced to any kind of human food.]
(':
He has never considered that he would need to explain this. ]
It's a red meat. It comes from cows. [ You would think, being the Food Soul of a dish made of the stuff, he'd know exactly how to describe it. But judging by the way he stutters and halts, he doesn't. ]
... Just try some. [ It's said as he scoops out a small strip of meat on a spoon, holding it towards her. ]

We don’t have any of these “cows” on Altea. [Maybe they just had a different name for it. He scoops up the meat and it hangs partially from the spoon as he holds it out. Is she supposed to just eat it off of the spoon? But her hands are full with the egg and she doesn’t have the benefit of tentacles here.]
Ah- If you insist… [Wat do? Tentatively, she leans in, opening her mouth to nibble on the edge of the hanging piece of meat
I just made the thread stupid.]no subject
And it's because he doesn't think that he sees letting Allura eat some to be the easiest solution to describing the taste, holding the spoon steady until she straightens up again. ]
So, what do you think?
no subject
It's very... [This is more Hunk's territory. Allura's preferences when it came to food were rather simple. She liked what tasted good, which,] It tastes very good!
[Sorry if he was expecting a complicated review.] It makes me think of grilled Viteek meat. You're a very good cook, I'm surprised.
no subject
What's that supposed to mean?!
[ Surprised??? ]
no subject
It just means that I'm surprised. Cooking is very nurturing and you're very... [Hmmm.] Aggressive at times.
[He's being put on a pedestal alongside Hunk, and those are large shoes to fill.]
no subject
I can take on more jobs because I can cook. [ And, on occasion, trade his services in the kitchen for free stays at the various inns in Nevras. ] But there are Food Souls better suited for this sort of work.
[ But he enjoys it well enough. It's certainly a better gig than chasing down people's cats. ]
no subject
It’s better than I can do. Which…. isn’t saying a lot., I’ll admit.
[She grew up in a castle. The amount of times she spent in front of an oven or a fire to make her own meals was extremely limited.]
no subject
And speaking of mission complete, the food seems ready to take off the hob. ]
Can you follow instructions?
[ Because, really, if you can do that, you can follow a recipe and cook for yourself. ]
no subject
[Said shortly, because of course she did. Why would he think that she can't follow instructions!]
no subject
[ That's all this is, after all. ]
