Catchall for May
Who: Allura and others! Open prompt available to all! (4th wall included!)
When: All of May
Where: Mostly Aefenglom, but some are elsewhere
What: Quests and some other stuff for May
Warnings: None
[Sparring is something she's been working on for some time. After coming through the mirror and finding herself with only a fraction of the physical strength that she had from back home, it was important to her to keep up with her training. (Ancients forbid the humans outpace her more than they have already)
Having a Galra soldier randomly come out of her mirror only made her work twice as hard. This one was a friend (she trusted Lance's word) but the next one might not be.
Having found an empty patch of grass, Allura has a staff in hand and is going through the motions of an imaginary fight. Her style is refined, bearing the hallmarks of someone formally trained without a large amount of practical use. But she's working hard, working up a light sweat when she notices someone nearby. Maybe they're openly watching or just sneaking a peak, but she'll call them out all the same,]
Is there something I can help you with?
[((ooc: This is the open prompt! Closed quest logs in the comments below. More will probably be added throughout the month. Always up for wildcards or you can shoot me a message to plot something else! I'm moving this month so I might be a little on the slow side.))]

I'm training, [Said as if it should be clear. Although, peering around the field, it does feel odd that she's by herself. At least on the ship she had her battle drones to help with training.]
What are you doing? [Fleeing in place?]

[Her head tilts looking at it. She'd seen sticks used, by kids. People who didn't have access to a weapon and grabbed a broom or something they could use to shove someone or something away. Not a thing people would choose to specialise in.]
Running. It's easier to keep moving than it is to stop then start again. [She probably could get going again. But it felt better to keep moving.]

[She corrects. Patiently. She holds the staff out a little, turning it this way and that, to show off that it’s a deliberate, balanced weapon, rather than just a stick or a stand-in for something more lethal.]
But where are you running?
[It’s less a pedantic question about why she’s running in place, but more on why she’s running in the first place.]
no subject
Around the park. Then back to where I've been training, I've got to keep in shape.
[You know, like she wasn't already more in shape than most people already.]

[What a concept!] Or for sparring, so there can be fewer accidents.
[Allura nods a little in understanding now, to the purpose of Mikasa’s running. She tilts her head,]
Does the… chiton make it difficult?
[She doesn’t know how building or losing muscle works when your body is growing bug parts!]
no subject
Not that Mikasa mentions that. She'd learnt not to. Elliot's response the first time was reason enough. And the question makes her pause. Shaking her arms out and looking at her elbow, where the skin met shell.]
I don't know...Bugs have to have something under it though, otherwise, they couldn't move.
[Right? Right!? They didn't really research bugs, but animals had muscle. So she'd imagine it was the same...But in a month Allura might have an idea of what happens when one shell became obsolete.]

A broken bone is much easier to heal than a severed limb. [Said with a small laugh, as if her statement is entirely obvious. Coming from a world that has sleep chambers and healing powers, broken bones were certainly not the death sentence that it was in other worlds.]
Regardless, the training drones back home do not mind either way. And I’m lacking a sparring partner here.
[So it doesn’t matter whether she has a sword or not.]
no subject
[That she'd been in an actual fight was probably obvious from that.]
Though we did have fake weapons for when we were training in how to fight people with knives. They were made of wood...
[And she peers trying to get a better look at the staff, what was it? Wood seemed too heavy.]

What happens when you’re in a battle with someone that you don’t want to kill?
[Training is one thing, but what Mikasa was talking about seemed like an increasingly efficient way of battle. Of course, she doesn’t know what kind of world that Mikasa comes from in the first place.]

Or you knock them unconscious? I haven't had to do that for a while. [Because she was normally sent straight to the front lines to rout the enemy.]
